The long-delayed fourth runway at will finally become operational from July 13. Airports Authority of India (AAI) chairman Sanjeev Kumar confirmed the date on Tuesday. Once that happens, the Indian capital’s IGIA will have as many runways as Washington’s Dulles International Airport. The next few months promise to be very exciting for India’s busiest airport as the elevated taxiway, the first in India, and an expanded Terminal 1 are set to open by September. Once the fourth runway gets operational, Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) plans to close the other two runways - the main runway between Terminal 1 and 3 and the one closest to the Shivaji statue - for repairs. If all goes as planned, IGIA will have all four runways functioning within a year to boost its capacity to well over 100 flights an hour. The main runway (10/28) will be shut for recarpeting (after the fourth runway is in service) and should start handling flights before the year-end, or early next year. Around March next year, the runway closest to the Shivaji statue side (11R/29L) will be closed for about two months for minor repairs. By next June-July, IGIA will have all four runways operational.

Although it was bound to happen. Last year the northern most runway (09/27) was recarpeted.
The video starts off with "Delhi ke alawa kisi bhi dusre airport pe 4 kya, 3 runways bhi nahi hai". Though 3 runway airports do exist, they are not common. You usually have 1, 2 or 4 runways in an airport. This is because of the names given to each runway. If a runway is named 07R, it subtends an angle of 70° to the north pole and is on the right side of its twin which is named 07L. When there are 2 more runways, we reduce or increase the number by 1 to avoid confusion, so the next 2 runways will be 06L and 06R or 05L and 05R.

दरभंगा एर्पॉर्ट पे इतना ट्रैफ़िक होने के बाद भी पब्लिक amenities कुछ भी नहीं है , ना अंदर ना बाहर । बाहर निकलते ही वाहन वाला नोचने लगता है । और गर्मी के दिनों में भी airport टर्मिनल के बाहर बैठना पड़ता है । बग़ल के बस टर्मिनल तक पहुँचना और वहाँ की स्थिति बहुत ही ख़राब है !
