A new expressway will be built from Varanasi to Kolkata which will pass through Jharkhand. 610 km long Varanasi Kolkata Expressway by NHAI is a proposed 8 lane access-controlled highway with a route alignment connecting Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, Ranchi in Jharkhand, and Kolkata in West Bengal. This greenfield expressway under Bharatmala Pariyojna (BMP) Phase 2 will run parallel to National Highway NH-2 (old) and link Varanasi Ring Road Km 00.000 (near Barhuli village) to Km 610.417 NH-16, near Uluberia, Howrah District, West Bengal. There are a total of 50 expressways in India in which vehicles run at a speed of 120 kmph. Two wheelers are usually not allowed in these fast moving expressways. Similar proposals include 146.2 km expressway from Sambalpur to Ranchi and 700 km expressway from Raipur to Dhanbad via Ranchi. These expressways will benefit around 9-10 districts of Jharkhand which include Hazaribagh, Chatra, Ranchi, Ramgarh, Khunti, Bokaro, Dhanbad Gumla and Dumka. The expressway under the Greenfield Project will have 6 to 8 lane roads that will pass through various fields and will have the least number of turns. All high speed vehicles will be allowed on the expressway.

Sasaram to Varanasi Road is never constructed properly since 2004. At times, there was more than 30 diversion between Sasaram to Mohania and the same number of diversion between Mohania to Varanasi. These days due to construction, conditions are even more degraded.
I hope the government changes in WB next time, so that development doesn't get obstructed like this in future.

Bro WB me land acquisition process slow hai because people don't want to give away there land and unions are there to protect them. UP Bihar type nahi ki 10 lac upar de do aur log apni zameen govt ko de degi. WB me farmers gets insurance for bad irrigation, this is something farmers from all over northern states are fighting the govt few years ago. BJP doesn't have a PM face in WB and people are expecting for BJP's win. Sorry bhai humare yaha godi media itna nahi chanta.

Wow... This is greatness of new india. Our nation development are on the right direction and into right hand of PM Modiji.
These opposition parties are always stalled development projects into entire india. As like TMC government of Mamta Banerjee are doing into west Bengal, still land acquisition itself not completed yet.

They should build at least 60% of the highway in UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, and WB as elevated, instead of taking away agricultural land. The current government does not care about poor farmers.
They only built 8 km as elevated in Karnataka, but Karnataka is not an agricultural state, and Karnataka has the second largest population of distressed farmers after Maharashtra. So land acquisition in Karnataka is easier. In contrast, WB is a state of prosperous farmers, and also the largest producer of rice. The same formula does not work everywhere.

Average monthly income of agricultural household in WB is 6700 rs approx which is the 3rd lowest in India after Jharkhand & Odisha. In Karnataka the average agricultural household income is 13400 rs almost double of WB.
