I KNOW!!!!!!!!n I was having an issue with this sewing machine and I have had it a few years. Sometimes you gotta go back to the basics! I LOVE this video!
This was amazing❤❤ I’m 19 and just learning how to sew - my family isn’t really crafty so I’m kinda just going on my own. Reading the manual just stressed me out but you made everything so clear. I appreciate your help a lot!!
this was seriously the most easiest video to follow! I finally gathered up the courage to take my new sewing machine out of the box after sitting in my office for 3 months and this was so much easier to follow than the paper instructions! I guess you can say I'm a hands on learner lol thank you so much!
I have not sewed in many years, taught to sew at the knee of my mother, grandmother, and 11 great aunts. Husband has encouraged me to pick it back up to be able to "darn his socks", HA! I have fought that for years. I just purchased this machine and LOVE your teaching style. Very reminisceient of how I was taught before all the fancy bells and whistles.
Just purchased mine and I am excited! I have never sewn but I am going to learn with you! I learned a lot in this video. I especially enjoyed learning that I should turn the wheel towards myself and not away. Glad you said that because I might have gone the other way. I have a lot of learning to do.
Thank you so much! You are a wonderful teacher. Your voice is calming and kind, and your pace is just right - kept me from feeling overwhelmed. I can’t wait to watch some of your other videos. Very grateful to have you to learn from!
@@momdoesstuffI am beyond grateful to have stumbled across this video. I learned to sew in 1988 on the big, metal, heavy Singer sewing machine that folds into the wooden cabinet. It was lost by a moving company, and I FINALLY decided to get a new machine. I only knew the OOOLLLDDD ways of putting threads and such in, when I opened this box, I was a bit overwhelmed. I’ve not had a mother in my life in almost 18 years, and you brought so much comfort, care and concern through a screen to a stranger! Thank you for your genuine desire to teach others. I’m beyond excited to get back into my creative side again!
I just bought this machine, the MZ53 , a few months ago, finally pulled it out the box and it was ready to sew. And I loved how the motor sounds and how well it did make stitches. All was great until I had to reload the bobbin. Following the book, I thought I did it right, but now have run into upper tension issues. Sew, lol, so I watched and rewatched this video and now my old self has got this new machine sewing again! Thank you, Miss "Mom". I appreciate it.
****😢😢how did I not know that the wire under the lip of the back threader was NOT a paper clip but a part of some tension wire on the machine!! I am afraid to use it now! It’s brand sparky new!- LizM 13:59 13:59
It's been a long time since I last used a sewing machine. I've been hand sewing for years but the thought of making some needed insulated curtains by hand convinced me to look at machines. (The fact that they can sew on buttons too was an unexpected bonus!) I ended up buying the MZ53 a few weeks ago and have watched a lot of sewing videos trying to get a feel for how to use a machine again. Your videos are the best; just immensely helpful and clear. It's obvious you are a teacher! Your students in the classroom and on RUclips are fortunate 🙂
Thank you so much for this sewing 🧵 video on the brother mz53! I just got one and Im a beginner so I am very excited to start my sewing journey and grateful for you sharing and teaching how to use a sewing machine. The Lord bless you with a double blessing in Jesus name 😊
Thank you so much for this video! I picked up my machine months ago and don’t have access to a DVD player for the included videos. Very great explanations for completed beginner
Hi, I bought this machine around Thanksgiving 2022, and I love it! I started my RUclips project of Wardrobe in Year for 2023 and I am using this machine. So far it has handled well, and I have made 4 articles of clothing. You are a great teacher, especially for the beginner.
Thank you thank you for breaking down the way to thread my brothers machine😅I have been fighting with it for 3 hours and I had to take it down retread take it down retread then I find you and BAM!!!!! I got it!!!!🎉 thanks
Another great tutorial! Tip: Hold your hand behind those tiny or clear pieces to make your camera autofocus and show them clearly while using your hand as a backdrop!
Thank you! Your video was really helpful! I just bought the same machine and I have no knowledge on how to operate it and you were very clear and helpful!
Very good explanation, many many thanks. I'm a begineer, and need all very detalleted. Do you have a video how use the different presser foot from this brother model sewing machine?
Thanks for sharing this video...I began practicing the sewing exercises on my machine. I'm so excited!!!! Anxious to begin sewing!!!! And that's another cool sewing machine...
Still looking forward to your promised comprehensive review of the relatively new Brother MZ53. It looks like a hot budget-class upgrade for beginners.
2022 Budget Sewing Machine Comparison ruclips.net/video/8HiN9hzbYeM/видео.html Not so much a review of this machine as a comparison of beginner machines
Hi Mom. Thank you so much for all your helpful videos 💖. I saw this machine in wally world on friday and was curious how it would perform thanks to you now i know. Take care and have a wonderful week 💖
I LOVE your sewing machine videos!! Can you help me to understand if the Brother MZ53 can do a hand quilting stitch? What would be the correct tension, stitch width, and stitch length, and stitich settings to accomplish this do you recommend??
Well, my hand quilting has gaps between the stitches since I’m using a single thread and rocking up and down. Machine stitches are always going to be continuous, there won’t be space between each stitch. Is that what you mean?
Very helpful. Just got to watch it again because the routing the metal with thread to wind the bobbin (on the top of the machine) was difficult to see.
Thank you very much for your information on this particular machine.. 1st time user, just bought it days. Hope to see more videos. To keep me up to date on how to use it. Any suggestions on what to buy for accessories?
Glad it was helpful! It really depends on what kinds of things you want to make. I love my cone holder, because I like to use thread that is crosswound. ruclips.net/video/ZZy3gO53204/видео.html I mostly quilt, so a rotary cutter and a cutting mat is essential for me. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for your instruction, you are a great teacher 🌹I'm subscribing now 👍Question: I'm buying a new Brother (ASAP) please tell me which you think is the best the MZ53 or the XM2701?? I used to be a intermediate (making clothes from patterns) but haven't sewn for several years, like 15😱. Your advice would be greatly appreciated 👍 thanks in advance for your advice 😊🌹(I don't know what "cross wound" thread is) 🤷🏼♀️ also I suppose what is the best thread to use also? Basic clothing repair & simple things like curtains, pillows ect. Again, thanks 🌹
How exciting! I really like the MZ53 so far. I haven't been able to use it a lot, but I love all the decorative stitches. My favorite thread is Aurifil. Here's a video I made discussing the stacked vs. crosswound threads ruclips.net/video/ZZy3gO53204/видео.html thanks for watching!
@@momdoesstuff thank you very much for the information. I like it also. Hard to keep up with all the "versions" & it's cheaper than the older 1 with the 27 stitches. I will watch the thread video later, thanks. I did watch 2 of your comparison videos last night 👍🙏🌹very helpful
Prices on the 53-stitch Brother MZ53 are starting to drop by literally a few cents. Walmart has it for $127.99 with free shipping. The Owner's Manual can be downloaded online. Sounds like Holiday fun.
For only $129.00 at Walmart, the Brother mz53 seems to be the ideal machine for beginners. Smooth, quiet and well acessorized, it gets consistently high reviews with a good variety of 53 stitches. Now priced at $85.00, the lx3817 is cute, but it seems like a poor quality toy to me.
The Mz53 does appear to be a great machine. I haven’t been able to spend much time on it yet, but hope to soon. However, I have over 200 hours on the LX3817 and it’s a really solid little machine. Very quiet as well. Sometimes, too many bells and whistles only intimidate and frustrate beginners. I think both would be excellent choices for a starter machine.
@@momdoesstuff I've been doing the classic upselling on myself. I'm thinking, well for a little more I can get the Brother xm2701. At the moment I've managed to stop myself from buying anything. I seem to love gadgets and tools regardless if I know what I will do with them afterwards. lol
I followed every step but for some reason when putting the needle down it doesn’t bring up the loop from the bobbin? as if the string was too short but it’s supposed to cut it at the exact length
I do think it's bit short myself. You can just let the thread tail hang out of the bobbin holder without cutting it, and pull it up. I get a little more length this way.
I’m so glad they are helpful! I teach high school math full time, so I don’t have time to teach sewing classes right now. I’m hoping maybe during retirement 🙂
@@momdoesstuff That’s amazing! You must be so busy 😁. Appreciate ALL of the teaching that you do. I’ve got my notifications on for your channel. Thanks for the reply and all of the great info. 🙏✨💜
I followed all the instructions in the video to wind the bobbin, but my machine won’t do anything. I can hear the motor running when I press the pedal but nothing happens. What could I be doing wrong? Or is it the machine?
Make sire everything is plugged in tightly, foot pedal and electric. Make sure the bobbin post is completely engaged and that the thread didn’t get hung up on something.
