  • ►It's critical to change your engine oil often to ensure proper lubrication at all times and to avoid sludge build up. The proper service intervals that we and enthusiasts recommend ranges from 5k to 7k miles. Changing your oil yourself will save you money over the dealer or specialist shops while leaving you with the satisfaction of performing your own maintenance and knowing it's done right. Adam Goral, our Volvo catalog manager, is here to walk you through the steps required to change the oil on a SPA chassis Volvo S90 from draining & filling, to removal of the filter and buttoning it all back up again. These newer Volvo models can be tricky because they don't have a physical dip stick to check the oil level, but Adam will show you how to properly monitor the oil level without the use of a traditional dip stick.

    My wife's 2015 V60 T5 2.0L Turbo 4cyl was bought this past fall with 72k mi. Had a fresh oil change at a Volvo dealership with the recommended 0-20 Castrol and tag that said to change oil in 10k mi. I had to add oil after the first 400mi. that she drove it. I added a quart and another 400 mi. later I needed to add another quart. Instead of the recommended oil I put in a quart of Marvle Mystery Oil. After another 400mi. I needed another quart, this time I added a 20% mixture of MMO and oil and she has since driven the car over 800mi and the level is still showing full. All I can think of is that the rings were stuck and the detergent in the Marvel Mystery Oil unstuck them. I will be changing the oil way before the 10k mark. Hope the oil consumption issue get better and doesn't come back.

    Assuming the vehicle has had regular changes with high quality synthetic oil, can anyone point to any evidence that using a 'flush' product is beneficial?

      Why was the cleaner use before the oil change? Surely there couldn't be that much cleaning needed in a three year old engine just to put an oil additive in it. These engines are know for oil consumption so the oil should never get dirty to begin with.

  • @luke1811
    @luke1811 Год назад +1

    You need to deduct volumes for the additives! Do not simply pour in half a liter/liter of the flushing agent if your oil level is on max already! Literally says so on the bottles from LM... Same goes with Ceratec, you need to deduct it from your total oil fill volume...
