    Please do an episode on sabbath and sunday worship. As an ex-SDA (now Orthodox) I am constantly reminded by my SDA family that the early church kept the 7th day sabbath (gentiles included) until well after Nicea, and sabbatarian websites that have 'quotes' from church fathers endorsing sabbath keeping. SDAs argue that the 'Lord's Day' statement in the Didache is an interpolation. Then there is the issue of lunar sabbatarianism, which I find has strong arguments for it. Overall, my opinion is that lunar sabbatarianism (full moon) was the most ancient, but weekly solar sabbatarianism took hold some time after the babylonian and persian exile, and the early church slowly moved towards Sunday worship. Fr. DeYoung constantly tells us that Fr. Damick loves e-mails but I don't know what it is.😁

    As a Byzantine Catholic, I appreciate your honesty and candor fathers. I was originally Roman rite but became Greek Catholic 20 years ago for a number of reasons,, liturgy among them but ironically not the main one. It was mainly the Roman "phronema" as it were. Each of us needs to follow where we believe Christ is calling us,, but I can heartily appreciate the Orthodox concerns. I have had Roman Rite priests say to me rather glibly that "Orthodoxy is just Catholicism without the pope." My response is usually."Wow what you don't know about what you just said is why the Orthodox run the other direction."

    Part of the response to the "Glorify God" question at -15min mark If I may add a bit from my understanding: The "personification" of God's "desire for glory" is a condescension to allow humans to understand and relate to God, but God doesn't "desire" or "is envious", etc. It's just letting us relate so that we can use our emotions to understand in our limited way.

    hello fathers. long time commenter first time listener. I'm a former IFB (Baptist) turned catholic after many years of bad living. Christ did not forget about me, thank GOD. as a self-styled former IFB de-generate, i have no problem conjuring a few colorfully harsh words about 'the catholics'.
    that said...
    my understanding of papal infallibility (I'm melkite Catholic. see: orthodox light) is not that every proclamation/phrase the Pope makes is infallible (as our present esteemed Holy Father lays out in glittering display) but only those which are stated "ex-cathedra" or "from the chair". i dunno. thoughts?
    also, on Fatima, wasn't the consecration supposed to be at a certain time (which didn't happen) and since this wasn't the case some part of the miracle would not come to pass? also wasn't the consecration supposed to stop them from spreading heresy (which they haven't)?
    another thing, way back in long ago times, i remember watching a video of Fr. Stephen speaking on universalism. i know it's heretical but my grandfather, whom showed me Christ, was an IFB pastor. i fear i may never see him again, should GOD save me. i find it hard to let go of this idea (that all may be saved), not for my sake, but for his. I realize I'm just some guy but if there is ever need for show topics, i'd like to submit "universalism" as one.
    pray for me. I'll pray for you. yours in Christ.

      Hi Tyler, you should listen to the question and answer starting around 1:52:00. The fathers address a very similar question about the worry about the salvation of family members here.

    I learn a lot from you guys, but your mocking of Roman Catholics shows arrogance.

    • @AncientFaithMinistries
      @AncientFaithMinistries  21 день назад +3

      It wasn't mocking the people, it was about the liturgical decisions that are being made by the catholic hierarchy.

      If I mock somebody you'll know it. I appreciate that we have Roman Catholic listeners, but guys, you need to develop thicker skin. We criticize various forms of Protestantism constantly in pretty much every episode. But any time we say a word about Rome, either we're completely misrepresenting her or, if we present inarguable facts, we're being mean, divisive, arrogant, etc. We're also self-critical about the Orthodox Church, particularly in the United States.
      We were asked what we think the obstacles are to reunion from the Great Schism. We gave an honest answer as to what we see the major obstacles being and that we don't think they're overcomeable in the foreseeable future. Feel free to disagree. Feel free to not like what we said. But don't be a snowflake.
