So many of my jazz heroes are gone and I'm 81. Makes wonder sometimes. I bought Take 5 when it came out in the 50's and learned a lot about drumming by playing along. I believe they are all gone now, Dave Brubeck, Paul Desmond, Joe Morello and Gene Wright. How many of you knew them name of the bassist?;)

Lays me down with my mind she runs

    No need to fight
Never a frown with Golden Brown
Every time just like the last
On her ship tied to the mast
    To distant lands
    Takes both my hands
Never a frown with Golden Brown
    Golden Brown, finer temptress
Through the ages she's heading west
    From far away
    Stays for a day

I've already said that the sax, which is not played by Paul Desmond on this clip, is really good. Usually, I don't like the sound of alto sax, but in this recording, it's so well executed that I really like it.

    absolutely wonderful , I like
    this even more than the
    original by the stranglers ,
    and played on traditional
    instruments , imagine what
it would be like if d.b.quartet
had a synthesizer in the 50's
    ( will someone invent a )
    ( time machine and .... )
    ( change history ) ( waiting ) ....
