So many of my jazz heroes are gone and I'm 81. Makes wonder sometimes. I bought Take 5 when it came out in the 50's and learned a lot about drumming by playing along. I believe they are all gone now, Dave Brubeck, Paul Desmond, Joe Morello and Gene Wright. How many of you knew them name of the bassist?;)

Joe Morello is so smooth and casual, and top swinging at the same time. I've already said that the sax, which is not played by Paul Desmond on this clip, is really good. Usually, I don't like the sound of alto sax, but in this recording, it's so well executed that I really like it. Good job on this iconic piece of music, covered by the Stanglers in the 80's.

Athough that is true, I just want to make sure you know that this song is a 'fake', in the sense that Bruckeck never played this song (this song is much younger), but that some creative youtuber played Golden Brown in the style of Brubeck, and put it on old footage. And he did that brilliantly!

If anyone hear is as old as i am, watch the video to see the interaction between the musicians. Before headphones, musicians would watch each other for minute changes in tempo and timber to keep things as smooth as possible. Watch it again to see them watching each other. Thats what old bands did

I tried to focus the video mostly around matching up some more Brubeck segments with the phenomenal instrumentation of Lawrence's original, as it's such a fun & believable scenario!
