- Sailing from Gozo Malta to Syracuse Italy. Light winds try to derail my trip but my new sails make the trip more enjoyable.

It's always a good day when Sam uploads
Sam’s review of the prickly pear matched his enthusiasm for the EZ Raft.
Syracuse is where Archimedes lived and did his work. It's also where he died. So displacement/density, your propeller! (that's an Archimede's spiral ...
So many cool places he goes to. Every time I watch his vids I wanna just quit everything and go sailing.
Let's go. I'm in the same boat. Grab the brass ring. I'll see you out on the water soon.
@@elmothedoggy lol I keep looking on yachtworld for boats all the time. But buying one is only the beginning. They say that the happiest times in sailor's life are the day when they get their boat and the day they sell it. 😂😂😂
"They" are wrong.
I’ve never sailed a minute in my life but drifting absolutely seems to be the correct choice 😊
I like how you transitioned from the clarinet(?) player’s performance, with his audio continuing through the rest of your sightseeing shots. That was groovy.
Thanks! Always nice when I can incorporate some live music.
Yeah, one of my faves tunes " All of Me", I think?
Thank you very much for sharing your experiences. This helps me and I'm sure many others to go outside and explore this vast world. I'll keep watching and waiting for the next Odyssey. Stay safe.
I've been a full time live aboard for over a year now and I bet you sail more miles in a week then I've done in the past year lol
I sailed 6 miles to the next bay today... I'm well chuffed lol
440th subscriber upward thumb, 3,399th tag-along view starting now... let's go sailing with Sam. Liking this 'snapshot' segment from the bow - beginning at 6:17
life without a motor... (sounds like a t-shirt) thanks for taking me along on your latest passage.
With the new prop and sails you're rocking, Sam. Stay Safe we are in a very turbulent world right now. Sam, watching your videos is a great escape for me. Take care, my friend.
Nice new dingy! Syracuse seems lovely! Love to you, Sammo!
MSC Divina! Went on a 11 night Caribbean cruise on that in 2013 - great ship! Keep up the amazing content, I'm still 7 months behind you!!
Hey Sam, I've been with you since that first solo to Hawaii.... Smart, energetic thrillseeker guy, small patched up bluewater boats, layedback attitude....perfect formula. Add some female companions here and there, fearlessly jump in deep ocean water miles from land....great. tour guide view of exotic ports of call....bonus. Rough seas footage, lightning and equipment failure....realistic. Now, maybe mount a waterproof Gopro during storms to capture breaking waves, etc during storms....lot of work, but would be awesome! Best tagalong sailing stuff on RUclips. Cheers, Michael
Sam, it would be great if you could include a small map in the corner of the video to follow your adventures
Yes I agree.. it's a adventure video and we can only guess as to where he is or has been..
Yes like Erik Aanderaa
Google maps helps me keep up.
If you can find You Tube, surely you can find Google Maps. Some thinking may be required.
If you want a mini map play GTAv.
Those sails are the best in the world. Love them
Last few weeks worth of stops have been my favorite so far. Such old cities.
Kinda surprised that the board for the wingsail doesn't have foot straps. Woulda figured that would be a necessity, but clearly not. Shows ya what I know!
The new sails look really good quality they stay tight hence more knots 👍
I love how Sam relaxes after a long sail ... by going for a sail on his board.
Really enjoy the end-of-video sight seeing portions of your posts. Thanks much!
Syracuse looked amazing. I love travelling vicariously with you Sam - what a fabulous life you live!
The best part of our sailing (a while ago)… raising the sails and cutting the motor…ahhhhhhhhhh
Dude, I enjoy you're laid back demeanor. I single handed many years.
Thank you Sam;
Being half Siciliano i so enjoyed sailing to my ancestors stomping grounds & familiar shorelines
It is as beautiful as i imagined
Being from an Island off a
" Boot " makes you love the water even more...
Ciao bella, may your SAILS TAKE YOU always with the
WInds at your back
Ah'reverderci...
I can sense a renewed enthusiasm with the new sails and prop.
Cool video Sam. Pretty funny to see you whirring thru the channel on a dinghy with massive ships all around 🤣
Getting tired of living vicariously through your channel. 91 more months until I can be a full time sailor. Keep going. Don’t give up.
You can do it!
Sam, you are making it happen on that Board!
Gybing looks way harder than a sailboard, well done so far Sam
Awesome 🎉Sam 😎...good lord st Christopher always look after u ..on ur great adventures..super 😎 videos 📸 luv it .
Stopped off in Syracuse for a few days last year while sailing from the Aegean to Portugal - awesome city!
Really cool video he's not just a hairy hippie.
Thanks Sam! How Majestic. I'm having a wonderful time just watching.
You are one laid back dude! Fair winds!
Best sailing channel on RUclips. You're the man, Sam.
You're the best!
This video is just perfect, Sam. I love the way your embrace the calm.
Thanks!
Love it dude. Really inspiring. I cant wait to do one of these trips around the Mediterranean myself.
Salad’s looking good there, Samwell! Thanks for the peace, bud.
Was stationed in Sicily for 3 years. Beautiful Country. Best Italian food in the whole frickin country. Cefalu, Catania, Palermo, and Taouromina are buono.
Great LIFE you have sailing sam..well done indeed..unfortunately I'm disabled...from VETERAN SCOTS GUARDS..!!
Great Vid Sam, looking forward to seeing how that new Dinghy works out
The new sail looks good on the PH
We're moving pretty good. It is amazing want good sails get you, so much more power.
George Bernard Shaw is supposed to have said “youth is wasted on the young and wisdom is wasted on the old” - this doesn’t & won’t apply to you!
I can assure you, if he met my in-laws that are in their 80’s there was no wisdom spared. When it was being wasted, they were being wasteful
Oh and now the young are wasted on drugs
It must amazingly quiet when it’s calm and you’re offshore
"The ripples are the wind" merchandise, please :)
Get it, Sam! ❤
12:47 that little pole guy zips along
that’s a cool motor & seems to stow easily
V cool video, Sam. That raft thing looks a bit odd. Like…I'd be worried about losing stuff over the side.
Yeah Its got some neat ideas but I think it could use some more refinement. I tested it for a month but ultimately went back to my achilles. The light weight of the thing is awesome though and it tows really good.
I saw that switch foot move on the foil board nice 😊
Thankyou for sharing your life with us!!
My pleasure!!
Always fun to follow Sam
man, looks like youre having a blast, new sails are good, kite surf thing looks great too. nice one.
Fantastic adventures
Fire works best to get the little hairs off the prickly pears
Samilicious episode ❤⛵️
Thanks
The new sails look great must be a good feeling for you
Yes they’re quite an upgrade 😃
My Cape Dory is jealous. Looking forward to where you lay up for the winter, and a Spring start in the Med. Don't miss Dubrovnik and the Croatian isles! Thanks ,Sam. great videos..
Thanks. Im sailing to dubrovnik now
watch out for crazy wind gusts from the mountains if you sail up the fiord to ACI marina Dubrovnik. Cheers!@@samholmessailing
my favorite show!
Just spent a week in Ortigia. Beautiful place. Loved it
I haven't got a clue as to how you filmed that wind surfing....????? But, it was great!
Great video i especially really liked the windfoil footage.
Thank you very much!
SYRACUSE LOOKS LIKE A NICE PLACE TO VISIT
best green screen usage ive seen in awhile
My innocent question made a big waves here, yes, but I asked Sam and no one else
Thanks
Those new sails tho 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Brilllllliant Sam
When doing a jibe on wingfoil and changing feet do not jump. Just move your feet until your front foot has the most pressure. Then push the nose down and as it just starts coming back up - move your back foot next to the front one, move the ex-front foot back. 2 steps. The lifting momentum will give you couple seconds to make it a two-step thing instead of a jump, more control, more success :)
Thanks for the tip. I still need to work on those foot switches
Whilst becalmed, Sam finds a salty Zen
My great grandparents were Sicilian. The island is calling me. I've never been. Oh, those prickly pear slivers are nasty. Those are almost invisible but manage to poke the skin
That's not a dingy, it's an above water torpedo. Looks like he was going for a trimaran concept?
Sam, it would be hilarious to set the electric motor on your dinghy, but row, from afar or air it would look hilariously fast!! Do you think the mini dinghy could be pulled by your foil sail? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That would be cool. I was thinking about using the wing on the dinghy the other day but I figure you could really only go downwind without a fin or keel.
famous for dinghy thieves, watch out Sam!
the long hair definetly suits you!
Thanks
I’m starting the process of getting out there. I have learned a lot from you and the YT sailing community. I feel like I’ve learned a ton. Wing boarding (?) looks like great exercise. Like full body/core and arms. It looks tiring, is it? Is there a better “health fun activity” living aboard? Exercise is boring, so I’ve been keen to identify something I can do like that. Cool! I ride bikes now to stay healthy/fit-ish… Thanks
Not interested in skiing (yet) like Juho. Looks pretty though but that’s a lot of hiking. 😂
Yes very good workout at least when you don’t know what you’re doing. I also have a Brompton folding bike and hike every chance I get ashore.
Did you say "holes in my para glider"?
That sounds...........less than ideal. :)
Sam please ais active live tracing
If it will pull 3000 rpm that is close to the right propeller.
Long distance hikers get trail names, I'm Crackerjack. Your long distance sailing name should be Mr. Adventure.
I love breakfast burritos!
at first I thought that fishing trap thing might be some sort of drugs drone lol
Syracuse is where archimedes lived. He’s the “ eureka” man. Nice to see you eating salmon and cuscus. Something healthy for a change!
@SamHolmesSailing._ sorry, not on telegram…super sails though, you’re pointing much higher!
To bad Egypt is not that safe I always found it fascinating that the ancient Egyptians would be able to travel north and south on the Nile. The river flows one direction and the wind the other. Kind of a dream of mine to do that. I can’t even sail though. P.S hello from Fort Myers Florida.
Sam - Could you please give us an update on your propeller situation? It sounds like it's fixed, but I guess I missed something as far as how that came about. It was kind of a big deal a while back and it would be nice to know how it got resolved.
I posted a video about it
ruclips.net/video/M6QUtoWaCBM/видео.html
That dinghy I think it was an oops
That hair is looking great
Who made his Sails. A very, very nice suit, set well, and Sam noticed big differences in performance from the previous, even they were new.
Rolly Tasker
Hey Sam, what's the scariest things that's ever happened while u were out at sea,?...plus why do u anchor so far from land it seems
I was attacked by pirates once. Probably because the wide angle camera lens
@@samholmessailing wow, I was totally expecting to hear a story about a broken engine or a lost sail....thanks for replying, hope next time you're Boston way you let me buy the drinks
More footage with more clarinet please Sam!
When you were becalmed on the glassy seas and talking about not using the motor there SOUNDED like a motor/machine running in the background. What was that? The fridge? Something else? Curious. BTW -- I always dig it when you make music. More of that please.
OK. I think I figured it out -- the fans. It was hot. They just seemed loud since the wind was non-existent. (I also want to thank you for never giving updates on your battery levels and how your solar panels are performing. Most of the other RUclipsrs are waaaaaaaay too into their electrical generation.)
Yes its the fan noise
So why do I hear a motor running at 5:30 in the background with no wind and you’re not motoring 😮
Thats my cabin fans
Nice busker music 😂.
Hey Sam, I’m an older guy (74) with a 30’ sailboat. Really interested in the ezraft due to space. What’s your opinion of it?
R/ Jim Grigsby
Virginia Beach
I dont like that idea of wholes in the pataglider 😂 dude
wow
It would be nice to include a bit more history and info on places you visit and maybe interesting statistics on the population???
Sure thing
What kind of sailing tablet did you pick up?
I love your electric dingy motor. Can you post a link?
Its the Temo 450 electric motor
Sam, your new sails look good. Are they making your boat faster?
Yes they are!
