      Seriously?! That’s a crazy good price. I just got mine today and I bought it for 40 dollars. It’s been a wishlist plant for so long, because I wanted to gain more experience with common Philo’s before I got a more expensive philo. like the PPP. Can’t wait to see mine grow and see the variety of variegation I will get.

    Great overview on PPP. I find their leaves more sensitive to light and burning than most philodendron so getting that balance right is tricky. I bought mine for $300 at the height of pricing in 2021. Hubby got a mature Burgundy for $120 and now his throws out solid pink leaves every 6 or so and is 7 feet tall. Burgundys can come back. . . .full force! They are such stunning plants and every leaf opening is a true adventure! 🎉 💖

    I bought a 'burgundy' princess last month. From what I understand from the plant shop I got mine from, they are just PPP that have reverted. Varigation can come back on them but it can take a long time so they sell it for less. At least that's what I was told. =)

    • @CaffeinatedCanadian

      @@GoodGrowing Yep, mine too. I'd gotten a big boi in and 8 inch pot. On mine, the stem was mostly burgundy with only a small bit of pink variegation on it mid-way up, and only a pale 3" splash of pink on a single leaf. The rest had very small and faded varigation.🥺🥺Compared to the baby PPP in a 2" pot I have, with it's big patches of darker and lighter pinks that are up the stem and on the leaves, my burgundy big boi is definitely very lacking the oomph of color. I've been trying it under grow lights in the last few months in hopes that the variegation in stem and leaf will come in bolder, but for me so far it's really determined to be a burgundy boi. *sigh*

    They are so pretty with that pink variegation! Yours looks so happy ☺️
    I saw some at a nursery recently, and they were selling fairly large PPP for $80, but they all appeared to be reverted. I can’t help but think of a comment I once saw, saying that “If a Philodendron pink princess reverts, it become a burgundy peasant” haha. This is why I can’t really see myself buying one…yours is gorgeous, but I would be worried about it reverting and having dropped a pretty penny on it.

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  Год назад +1

      yeah that's a pretty good price for a large plant! You can combat reverting by chopping down below the last variegated leaf. Then it should grow from a variegated growth point. It's not 100% guaranteed but defo possible to bring them back

      from what i’ve read about PPP the variegation is stable so even if one is putting out all green leaves it still can put out pink it will just all depend on the plant for how long it takes and it can take a while. there are some different resources online if you just search for stable PPP variegation some different places talk about it!

    Hi Emma! Love your PPP. I don't have one, I don't love the growth patterning, having had other similar philos. Maybe I'll get a white princess though, Claires one is gorgeous.
    I have a question re Pon, I've recently been converting a LOT of plants to leca and pon, the only one that seems bothered was my alocasia silver dragon, it dropped half it's leaves. Anyway, I've put my verrucosum and syn albo in pon on moss poles, and I'm wondering if you've done that where you've had the moss below the pon level, and whether you've had any issues with rot? It seems like such a great option for keeping the poles moist and honestly my verrucosum is growing insane aerial roots, but am I going to find the moss rots within a month? Any thoughts?
    Also I'm not sure if it was you or not but two youtubers both recently mentioned not being able to put multiple cuttings into the same pot in pon, and I'm curious why not? I have done so with hoya, and seem to be having no issues, why would that be?
    Sorry for the mega post ;) Thanks for the great video!

    • @crochetqueen6440
      @crochetqueen6440 Год назад

      Also re the pink congo - it is not the only plant that is being sold with the chemically induced pink - I've seen pink micans as well (although i believe there IS a pink variegated micans out there, it has normal variegation, not where the whole leaf is variegated). where the whole plant is pink. Definitely look out for any plant that is completely pink - it's not what you want anyway, a plant that is fully variegated, even without the chemical inducement is not producing chlorophyll and therefore isn't going to be able to support itself and will probably die.

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  Год назад

      Alocasias can be quite sensitive plants so changing their environment in such a big way is a risk. I have a feeling yours is just feeling stressed and will take a minute to get used to it's new home. I don't put the moss below substrate level on any of my pole plants. I end up filling the bottom of my poles with pon or orchid bark depending on the substrate. I'd be too afraid of it wicking all the water away too quickly and drying out the pon faster. But I've not tried it, so if your verru is happy, don't stress!

    I have a philodendron burgundy. However, it's mostly green with little variegation or pink leaves. The stems are burgundy color and oozes red wine type liquid when the leaves are cut. Not sure if it's the same as a PPP. Is this type of philodendron plant safe for dogs?

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  Год назад

      I think the burgundy is what sellers call a very low variegated pink princess. Depending on your plant, you may be able to coax more pink out. The care would be exactly the same though. And yes it is toxic to dogs, so don't let them consume it
