  • Video #3 of the Pink Princess Philodendron Propagation series. My recent propagation caused my momma plant to revert but there's a simple fix to bringing back the variegation. Check out the video to learn how to fix a reverted pink princess (also known as burgundy princess philodendron because of Gabriella Plants' marketing) and why the stem variegation is so important on these plants.
    [EDIT: Giveaway is over!] I'm also hosting my very first giveaway on my IG, @plantmomapp (EDIT: I updated my IG to @youriplant :)), featuring one of the propagated pink princesses in this video! Giveaway will be running until 11/13, check out the giveaway post for more details :)

    Just curious, I've just bought a Pink Princess that's clearly reverting. One of the older leaves is absolutely incredible and a couple of others are pretty good too, but none of those have a huge amount of stem variegation. Does the amount of variegation on the stem not matter as long as there is some?
    Also, some of the leaves appear to have variegation underneath but look totally burgundy on top. What causes this?

    • @youriplant
      @youriplant  2 года назад +2

      There's variegation in the inside portion of the stem too that isn't always visible! I've noticed that the more pink that shows on the stem, there's a higher chance that the leaves are more variegated.
      The variegation underneath isn't caused by anything in particular, just random chance like any other leaf!

    • @youriplant
      @youriplant  3 года назад

      I’ve tried a few different soil mixes but I think it’s pretty easy going no matter what soil I put it in. Recently I’ve been using a well draining aroid mix (coco coir, chunky orchid bark, charcoal, nutricote) so I don’t need to worry as much about overwatering.

    • @youriplant
      @youriplant  3 года назад

      It’s possible that it will show variegation again, but I think even if it does it will be low. I took another look at the leaves a few days ago and there’s light speckling of pink on the leaves but is very minimal. New leaf is coming soon so 🤞

    Oh noooo! This is coming from a good place cause I enjoy your channel. But after growing so many of these, the variegation doesn’t necessarily come from the stem. It’s not like the Albo. This type of Chimeric variegation is random and the stem may not show pink, but it will still push out Pink leaves. Sometimes you may think it’s reverting, but it’s not. Don’t cut your PPP’s no more!
