Reused assets? The only thing reused between Taniks the Abomination and our houseless friend in D1 is their name. That's it. You can't seriously look at this boss encounter and think "damn, those guardians who played House of Wolves like 4 years ago sure have an advantage in this raid"
It kind of goes with the Clovis Bray lore of taking advantage and using people against their will to further his own agenda. After being killed multiple times, Taniks awakens again to a fight he didn’t ask for but his hatred demands he finish

It was braindead. He literally covered the well with a bubble so that it was impossible to DPS from inside of the well. Place the bubble outside of the DPS area and well inside.

Taniks has no legs. He kneels on no kneecaps. Owes allegiance to no femur. He is an amputee. And very good at what he does. I have been tracking him, since Eramis broke her chains, yeeeesssss? Taniks works for House Salvation now. But not for long.
Hot tip: unless you stun Taniks *very* quickly as the suppressor in phase 2, you’ll want to wait until the operator has freed the second person who is detained. If taniks detains them just before you stun him, you might disable operator, and essentially kill everyone who is detained.
@@kaidyngula3442 Then you’re lucky. I’ve definitely had runs that ended because the operator was disabled after stunning and couldn’t free anyone who was detained. You can still recover from this state if you very quickly swap the operator buff, but it’s not easy.
What helped my fireteam is to have a "backup" of each role, and call out who is disabled so someone knows who's job it is to get it, as well as have core runners in teams of 2, in the first encounter anyone but suppressor can run the cores, in the second one operator should NOT run the cores because he needs to shoot bubbles. There is a cliff near spawn where the operator can see every single core bin, just have him use a low recoil primary (you only need to deal 1 damage so range isn't an issue) or double sniper if you're brave to pop bubbles, all he will have to come down for is the DPS phase and if his buff gets disabled, just make damn sure you don't die to meteors or it's a wipe. Last thing: make sure everyone has heavy ammo before starting last stand, you can do the cores again and be fine, but if you don't have damage in last stand you'll wipe.
Already ran the raid encounters, but came here just to listen to that signature Datto guide music. Also, best guides in the community, glad to have them to to show to friends who are new to raiding.
I'm so glad this raid is really, really straighforward once you understand it I could probably go in and understand the mechanics 100% just from this guide series because of how simple it is to understand Gives me some Gauntlet vibes, except less annoying, which is great imo.
One thing extra to note Datto, in the final encounter shooting taniks for the third time with supressor is what triggers the deactivation, so if you want to be extra careful you can wait until operator has popped both bubbles to ensure no one dies/someone new has to take operator super quickly.

Tip for those with suppressor role - Witherhoard or Anarchy works amazing for this. Shoot Taniks once and if you're quick enough, you can run around to all 3 stun locations whilst he's tagged for a super quick stun.
Tip for suppressor. Tag him with an anarchy shot and then you can just run under each suppression orb without shooting him at each one. It’s especially helpful for orange where he is right over the middle one. Works in both fights.
My blind team cleared on Nov 29th, and I, a Hunter main, discovered a use for NON-NIGHTHAWK bottom tree solar Hunter. If your team, as ours did, struggles with knocking off the nukes from Taniks, your Golden Gun should 2-shot remove the first one, and because of the escalating precision damage, 1-shot (or at least almost) the second. I was able to have my GG ready for the first nuke drop of each damage phase, and did this job concurrently with Suppressor role, since the time for them did not overlap. As teams grow in consistency and skill, this will likely become less valuable, but it sure helped me.
One thing that I noticed with my team was that the buff carriers that kept their distance from taniks never had their buffs deactivated. It was pretty consistent too, as it took us LOTS of tries and we always found that to be true
It is supressing Taniks which deactivates an augment in both phases (not just a while after nukes drop). This can be bad in the final encounter if Operator is disabled so wait for the suppression until after 2 detains. Also for boss DPS.. Mask of Bakris? Pretty sure it stacks with buffs - First in Last Out and Anarchy will be putting in some extra work. Who knows if it's worth over a Celestial though.
Tbf I find it very funny that taniks crashes into the ground and when he emerges from the scrap heap created in the aftermath as a massive flying shank man like a fucking comic book supervillain.

One thing to note if you go will 4 nuke deposit scanner isn’t exactly need as wherever he goes for the nuke drop is the area that you do not go to example: taniks floats to where you spawn and you get the nukes you go to boxes 3,4,5,6 and leave boxes 1,2 alone so in that case while doing 2 nukes is the norm right now I think going for 4 nukes might be better to do as you don’t need to go to only 2 boxes and instead you go to four boxes

people weren’t understanding that you can’t dunk the nukes in the receptacles until both runners get detained and freed by the operator. very frustrating when I would make it to the bin and not be able to deposit cause the other runner got detained first. this raid is basically Taniks sending us a selfie with the caption “I lived Bitch.”
Pro tip... I may have missed this in the video but make sure if you are suppressor to wait until both nuke orbs are ready to dunk before the final stun... Otherwise the operator may lose their buff and they can't free the detained people.
Just making a guess now: For challenge mode, it is called "Of All Trades" (that's not the guess, that's just a fact). My guess is that everyone will have to have every job once throughout the whole encounter, which works out because 6 phases = 6 players which have a different job each time.
for the final fight, the only good callous are colour then left or right along with red instead of orange. this is only because you can say "nukes go brrr" for blue right red right
I was easily doing over 2 million damage with Witherhoard (masterworked) and a heavy auto-loading GL. Shoot a Witherhoard in him, empty heavy GL, swap back to Witherhoard and repeat. Hopefully it helps you :)
I just wonder when they make this raid and decide who the final boss is going to be, do they even consider how many times we have fought this dude, in his various forms. Do they think the majority of players are gonna be like, “yes! It’s Tanik‘a again!”

I love your videos BUT I find you over complicated the encounters with your descriptions. taniks part 1 is simply put:- Collect Scanner, Operator, and Suppressor buffs from Vandals Scanner checks which bucket accepts Nuclear Cores, Operator shoots keypads to get Nuclear Cores, and Suppressor waits under drones Nuclear Cores are collected, swapped to other players as needed Suppressor shoots Taniks while standing under all three drones, then Nuclear Cores are deposited Player with the disabled Augment swaps it at an Augment station Process is repeated until center hatch unlocks at which point all players drop down and run

My team ended up intentionally allowing 2 detains, and I as first suppressor would stun immediately after the second detain clear was called.

This was a blast of an encounter. We played scanners on left side, operators on right side and suppressors mid. It worked wonders

Fun fact and strat! The suppressor Can Shoot taniks with witherhord or anarchy and just run through the nodes. this Allows you to go fast

cloud strike is FANTASTIC paired with divinity. I did 1.1m damage in 1 phase.

15:02 This is wrong. You have three tries at the final phase, not 5. Unless I've understood your "5 teleports" wrong.

I love your videos BUT I find you over complicated the encounters with your descriptions.
taniks part 1 is simply put:-
Collect Scanner, Operator, and Suppressor buffs from Vandals
Scanner checks which bucket accepts Nuclear Cores, Operator shoots keypads to get Nuclear Cores, and Suppressor waits under drones
Nuclear Cores are collected, swapped to other players as needed
Suppressor shoots Taniks while standing under all three drones, then Nuclear Cores are deposited
Player with the disabled Augment swaps it at an Augment station
Process is repeated until center hatch unlocks at which point all players drop down and run
Ha, the description alone is enough for me to feel good about smacking Taniks out of orbit.
