Hello Andy, I really liked your review of the Sony NW-WS623. Your video quality, perspectives and the structure is a model example for RUclipsrs. Thanks, Congratulations and looking forward to future videos.
To my ears these 3rd Gen Air pods are more comfortable compared to the newer Pro version with the soft gel tips. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxgl8SzyQoymMu-S3V55Dskg5QJ8xr1yCR That said, compared to the 3rd Gen, I notice these do not stay planted in the ear as well. One design issue I think, is you squeeze the stem and click it twice to advance your songs. On 3rd gen you tap the large speaker. The difference is by grabbing the stem each time, you tend to loosen the bud fit in your ear. Not always, but the bud falls out a few times while running. The old tap to change never had that problem for me. I would not have changed that tap function. That said, the newer Pro version sticks in the ear, almost airtight if you want that. I do not like that Airtight fit. So that's why I'd stay with this version as the best trade off of comfort, use, and overall feel.

Does the Bluetooth work well for lap swimming if you want to stream Spotify from your phone and you stay on the surface of a pool if you do not go fully under water?
Hi Andy, I just bought this product, but i have a question, how long can i swin in the pool and at the see with them? I read that it is only 30 min and max 2m deep, thats 30 min under water? or in total beeing wet? Because if i'm going to swim, i think that i'm doing it more than 30 min. If you could explain the behaviour of this product with the water contact I would be gratefull thanks for the video
I tend to swim 30 to 50 mins at a time. The 30min limit is at 1 meter I believe. You never really submerge the headphones under water when swimming so you don't have to worry about that
Your review is very detailed and great .. you keep it interesting .. and video quality is great .. does this include the ring remote control in the box ??
One quick question. What would be a reliable place to buy one of those through internet? I have only seen one place through Amazon, which has one review that says that it sent the product package content incomplete, so I'm wondering if there is better site to place the order. I'd be very greatful on any suggestion you might have. Great review, thank you.
Hey! Will you recommend it in 2020 with all the earbuds in market. I have a need for mp3 player, so I am considering it. Any more suggestions you can give.
Absolutely, as long as you are okay with the slow file transfer speeds. Sound is good, there are loads of features and it's fully waterproof. There is a 16GB version if you need more storage.
Hi, how would you compare the underwater sound quality between these and Shokz OpenSwim (rebranded AfterShokz Xtrainerz) playing only from internal storage? I seek headphones solely for swimming and cannot decide which pair will offer better sound quality. I'm interested in music, audiobooks and podcast. But audiobooks mostly.
The Sony can sound better underwater, not that it should matter that much for audiobooks. The Shokz can easily be good enough too for that purpose but only if you plug in your ears with the supplied foam earplugs
Thanks UncleRayRay11 😎 The headphones are not supposed to be submerged for longer than 30 minutes but it barely ever happens during swimming, so no need to worry, you can swim as long as you want
@@AndysTechTone Thank you for your speedy response. How have the earphones after almost a year of use? Do they last. I ask because it is quite an investment.
@@UncleRayRay11 well, haven't been able to swim lately due to the lockdowns and restrictions but the earphones are working fine, build quality is great
Hi! Really interested to know if you've tried the bluetooth function underwater and how well this works. There's a a brand called h20 audio which has a bluetooth swimming product that can pair with apple watch/fitbit. You're supposed to be able to stream offline from spotify/ audible which would be awesome if not too good to be true. Do you think this would work at all or am i better off just getting an mp3 version? Thanks!
As long as you keep your head and the headphones underwater the bluetooth function won’t work. If all you are going to use these headphones for is swimming then you might be better off with the mp3 version. If you check the details on the H20 website you will see that Bluetooth doesn’t work underwater there either. You have to buy an accesory to connect your watch to the headphones so it can work with offline content the same way as an mp3 player.
Hi, i noticed that the speaking voice when using the sony walkman on calls is not loud enough. The other end sometimes can't hear me. Do you have suggestions on how can I increase the volume when doing outside calls so the other end cn hear me clear enough? Thanks. 👍🏻
They can still get the job done and there are no new traditional in-ear headphones that I know of. Bone conduction is probably the way to go if you want music/podcasts for your swims. I’m going to make videos on a few recent headphones as soon as water temperatures rise to a comfortable level 😊
@@AndysTechTone the priblem with all bone conduction is they dont let u fast forward or rewind which for me loses the sense of learning things from podcasts

Hi - I don't need BT, just want to listen to music while doing laps. Is this a good model or is there an upgrade? I understand that I transfer music via USB? But how do I transfer music to my usb from Spotify? Thanks
You’ll have to use the supplied USB cable for file transfers but it won’t work with Spotify, you’ll have to get your mp3s from somewhere else. I don’t know of any better or newer models than this, so these are still your best bet.
So.... They are water proof (even salt water) but does that mean they would be also Sweat proof? I sweat like hell when I ride my Mtb in summer... 🙈 Looking for something really durable... Cheers.

@@AndysTechTone i see. but is it true that the nw-ws623 can't be used for laptop? that means, it can't be for zoom / google meet meetings? truly only for sport?
What I like about these is that the original model WS413 of which I have the 4gb and 8gb versions fits very snugly and the noise cancelling is first class. I ride an e-bike at 48kph so the wind noise is very off-putting on normal cheapo BT necklace phones (Dacom Armor). The Sony fits very nicely over the ear but under my glasses arms. No one mentions us short-sighted folk and this problem! Now with the BT function added in the 623 I am going to connect them to my Oppo Find which is attached to the handle bar. Then I'm going to control the Oppo and therefore the Sonys with a Bluetooth Remote control media button next to the left-hand grip, so I don't have to take my right arm off the handlebar at 48kph to change tracks. 2 accidents at that speed and 10 weeks in hospital finally brought me to this point. Thanks Sony but you took your time! Lol
You get a better seal with the swim tips that's why you're supposed to use them in the water. Don't know what happens if you switch to the normal tips though
Unfortunately there are not many options for swimming earphones and these Sonys are one of the best ones. Not sure what you can do to make them more comfortable...
It's so difficult to find quality reviews for swimming headphones! So glad I found this.

hi im trying to figure out what i need with my sony mp3 b183. the headphones are crap. obviously i can get headphone jack headphones. but what im after is for them to be louder. and I've experienced bluetooth headphones with my mobile phones to be louder as they have an integrated power source amp thing which makes it louder. now this mp3 player doesn't have bluetooth. i like audio technica headphones but i don't want to spend loads of money if they are not gonna be louder. what do u suggest because i wanted a small mp3 player to skate with. not iPhone 8 as its big for me. edit: also i have turned AVLS off.
I wanna buy this just scared if it will last me long enough and are there better workout headphone options there or not because for me as a student it's not a small amount.
If you swim a lot than its a good investment. If not then you're better off spending your money on something else
@@AndysTechTone okay man got your point
@@completelyrandomcontent3184 They don't connect via Bluetooth though so if you plan on connecting them to your phone don't cause they can't, get a different pair
They do connect to your phone using Bluetooth. You are either doing something wrong or you simply got a faulty product.
When i try to turn up the Volume i get the repeated warning sound and they wont go any louder, how do i get this off and turn up the Volume 🤦♀️🤷♀️
You might be at 100% volume already hence the warning
can you automatically save the music you listen to on BT into the MP3 folder? It would be great if we could
You have to copy your audio files through USB
Great detail reviews, I'm aiming to do a challenge: 31days, 2miles per day to achieve near 6-700miles. This will earphone will be helpful 👍
Best of luck with your challenge kohbbb 😎
His content is topnotch, why so little views?😳
Totally agree!!!!!!!
there is a Problem in my headphone, its that my right side speaker is so low...why? How to fixd it?
Do you feel like the storage is enough or do you often feel like you should have uprgraded to the 16 gb one?
What I wish I had is the remote controller which goes on your fingers. And that comes only with the 16GB WS625 I believe
Does the Bluetooth work well for lap swimming if you want to stream Spotify from your phone and you stay on the surface of a pool if you do not go fully under water?
The BT signal will cut off especially if you go outside the 10 m range
Hi Andy, I just bought this product, but i have a question, how long can i swin in the pool and at the see with them? I read that it is only 30 min and max 2m deep, thats 30 min under water? or in total beeing wet? Because if i'm going to swim, i think that i'm doing it more than 30 min.
If you could explain the behaviour of this product with the water contact I would be gratefull
thanks for the video
The 30 minutes applies to continuous submersion only, I don’t think you need to worry about swimming longer than that
Hi in the details I saw it is only good for 30 mins in the water. How long do you use it??
I tend to swim 30 to 50 mins at a time. The 30min limit is at 1 meter I believe. You never really submerge the headphones under water when swimming so you don't have to worry about that
Your review is very detailed and great .. you keep it interesting .. and video quality is great .. does this include the ring remote control in the box ??
No, I got it without the remote, it would be nice to have it though...😎
One quick question. What would be a reliable place to buy one of those through internet? I have only seen one place through Amazon, which has one review that says that it sent the product package content incomplete, so I'm wondering if there is better site to place the order. I'd be very greatful on any suggestion you might have. Great review, thank you.
It depends on a lot of things, where you live for example, but I consider Amazon reliable enough 99% of the time
@@AndysTechTone Thanks for the reply. Best of luck for your channel and waiting for more reviews.
@@anshuljain5769 Thanks Anshul 😎
Hi, how would you compare the underwater sound quality between these and Shokz OpenSwim (rebranded AfterShokz Xtrainerz) playing only from internal storage? I seek headphones solely for swimming and cannot decide which pair will offer better sound quality. I'm interested in music, audiobooks and podcast. But audiobooks mostly.
The Sony can sound better underwater, not that it should matter that much for audiobooks. The Shokz can easily be good enough too for that purpose but only if you plug in your ears with the supplied foam earplugs
These come up every time I'm searching for BONE CONDUCTION headphones, which they are clearly not.. it's annoying.
Simply the best information
I got a question could u technically use Bluetooth while swimming if u have a watch to connect the Bluetooth to??
Bluetooth won't work in the water regardless of what device you use
i have a problem it says for me data error when i want to play song please help
You have to check and make sure the file format is compatible
Hey, great review! Can you only swim for 30 minutes or is it that you can only be underwater for 30 minutes max?
Thanks UncleRayRay11 😎 The headphones are not supposed to be submerged for longer than 30 minutes but it barely ever happens during swimming, so no need to worry, you can swim as long as you want
@@AndysTechTone Thank you for your speedy response. How have the earphones after almost a year of use? Do they last. I ask because it is quite an investment.
@@UncleRayRay11 well, haven't been able to swim lately due to the lockdowns and restrictions but the earphones are working fine, build quality is great
@@AndysTechTone Thanks for your time man, may you have a blessed year ahead 🙏🏻
Thanks. 👍🏻
I don't think there is any setting for mic volume or sensitivity on the earbuds
thanks for the comment bautista. if this is the case, then i shant buy them.....
Do u still recommnd the nw ws 623? Or there s sth better now?
They can still get the job done and there are no new traditional in-ear headphones that I know of. Bone conduction is probably the way to go if you want music/podcasts for your swims. I’m going to make videos on a few recent headphones as soon as water temperatures rise to a comfortable level 😊
@@AndysTechTone the priblem with all bone conduction is they dont let u fast forward or rewind which for me loses the sense of learning things from podcasts
Is there Ambient sound mode like in other headphones? So I can hear surroundings?
Yep, there is ambient mode
Hey, I wanted to buy the Sony NW-WS623 headphones but they are unavailable in my country, I found the Sony NW-WS413 headphones instead and wanted to ask if you know what's the difference between them?
Thanks
I believe that the 413 is an MP3 player with no Bluetooth connectivity option while the 623 has BT. Everything else should be the same.
@@AndysTechTone Thank you so much! I think I'll buy them since I need them only for swimming.
By the way, you have great videos reviews!
@@michalb3775 Yeah, you can save some money 👍
Great review, I just have one question, do they help to avoid getting water in your ears? I use to wear earplugs while swimming. Thanks
As long as you have the perfect sized eartips they seal your ears completely, so no water can get in
Hi - I don't need BT, just want to listen to music while doing laps.
Thanks Andy, appreciate your reply - so in conclusion these headphones are great for doing laps x
@@arrowhiresales42 yes they are as long as you manage to download music on to them 😎
How is it with mic to talk on the phone?
Is the Bluetooth working during swimming? I know driving is not possible, but just swimming?
Nope, the MP3 feature is on board for a reason
Hello, would you know if there is an update on these sony waterproof earbuds? I guess the product is 3 years old now.
No update that I'm aware of
@@AndysTechTone thanks
So.... They are water proof (even salt water) but does that mean they would be also Sweat proof?
I sweat like hell when I ride my Mtb in summer... 🙈
Looking for something really durable...
Cheers.
They are sweat proof. But it doesn't mean you shouldn't rinse them in fresh water after use so the salt won't cause any damage in the long run
can there be problems with smale ears?
I have fairly small ears, but it's hard to tell...
@@AndysTechTone thanks for replying so fast.
Could somebody please tell me if it can be charged using the socket or it only charge with the usb port conected to a computer?
You can charge it using any USB charger, don't need a computer to do that
Hi! How long can you stay with these headphones inside the water? I need use it for swimming at least 2 hours, do you recommend these headphones for it, or you think these won't work?
I reckon they will be fine even after 2 hours in the water but their official IP rating says otherwise...
ive gone thorugh two so far.... mine facking broke down twice on me!!! im goign to get a third one but get extended warranty because these break easily
How comfortable were they on the water with the cap on?
They are okay, no chafing, no pain
@@AndysTechTone How much time is the longest swim you have used them?
@@gabriel4899 40-50 minutes maybe
Ever since I started swimming 30 years ago I’ve wanted these 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂
can you suggest me between Sony NW-WS623 vs aftershockz swimming headphone lineup
If you need bluetooth than choose the Sony, if you don't and you also don't like your ears plugged in than go with the Aftershokz Xtrainerz
Mainly Manly Stuff Great, thanks mate👍🏼
i think this is the best review video I've ever seen. it's summarized perfectly. thanks! because of this video, now i want to purchase this but I'm still a bit hesitate in between three choices
may i ask?
these three currently on my mind,
Sony NW-WS623, JBL endurance dive, and JBL UA Pivot.
i might won't use it for swimming but i want a wireless earphone that waterproof and durable. because i live in an area that frequently have heavy rain, so, i need it when I'm cycling in heavy rain. and the ambient mode sounds good and safe too. and i also want an earphone where i can easily take it off when cycling but the earphone will stay on my ear or neck, (no need to auto turn off), and then put it back while still cycling.
do you have any recommendation?
for now I'm into this sony thanks to this video
I'd definitely pick the Sony if I were you
@@AndysTechTone i see. but is it true that the nw-ws623 can't be used for laptop? that means, it can't be for zoom / google meet meetings? truly only for sport?
@@keikezia11 I couldn't connect it to any of my laptops, it only works with phones
@@keikezia11 what did you finally choose ? Did you buy the Sony NW-WS623 ?
@lonelyberg1808 no, i ended up buying sony mdr-xb80bs. and it's great. been using it for 2.5 years and still great.
How do you put songs and podcasts into this device?
Using a USB cable
Do u say I can use them under water with the blotooth?
No, you can use the built-in mp3 player under water. Bluetooth won’t work
excellent - i will buy them now - 104 euros Amazon DE
That's not a bad price 👍
@@AndysTechTone not delivered to Switzerland with delivery and import tax included, it isn't no!!!
Lol
Very good review thanks
Thanks for watching Andrey 👍
Is there a problem if I use them for taking a shawer? I mean: it is ok if it reasive water with shampoo?
I'm not sure, I don't test earbuds with shampoo...
@@AndysTechTone ok, thanks
what if i just swim with normal earbuds? (cuz with with swimming ones u completely lose the sound)
You get a better seal with the swim tips that's why you're supposed to use them in the water. Don't know what happens if you switch to the normal tips though
@@AndysTechTone Thank you so much. What if I try to use normal one, is it risky?
Sony gave you those special tips for a reason...
Does it have a program to make playlists???
No
thanks so much for this video!
Thanks for watching 😎
I wonder why Sony stopped making bone conduction headphones??? I cant find these anywhere!!!!!!
I have bought these, but I am finding them really painful to wear. Do you have any suggestions?
Unfortunately there are not many options for swimming earphones and these Sonys are one of the best ones. Not sure what you can do to make them more comfortable...
@@AndysTechTone - thanks for replying. I will keep trying to use them.
How to use nfc in this sony Walkman ?
Why they don't make this anymore
It's been on the market for many years, I only hope they'll come out with some sort of an update next year
