- These are the new Sony Walkman W series (waterproof), i'm just giving a brief hands on to give you all an idea of what to expect from this Walkman. A review will follow shortly after iv'e put them through their paces.
About the charging issue: try pressing the reset button while connected to the PC via USB. This solved my problem.

Just fix the same issue, nwz-w273 not recognized on any computers.
Can t even charge it on anythings, can 't start it...
Reset button for 5 sec and seems to be good again.

diegopeixoto11 Worked for seconds, then it stopped charging again. Had mine for 2 years never had an issue, until I finally decided to swim with them
I know this vid is 2 years old but I have to say that I have had my W-series (same one shown) for 2 years and I LOVE them. I swim all the time, use them in the hot tub and Sauna. The only problem I have ever had with them are because I have long hair and the little band DOES get stuck in my small hairs, and I occasionally knock them out of my ear while swimming. To avoid knocking them out of my ears I pull my swim cap down over my ears. I have also used them while running and biking and they have never fallen out. Hope this helps some people make a decision. :-)

I'm sorry, I just saw this. I stay in the dry sauna for 10-15 minutes and the steam for 5-10.
I always use this for exercise and swimming. To get the perfect fit when swimming is to open your mouth when you put it in your ear. It took me for a while to figure this out.

It doesn't work! In Italy Sony lost a class action against this product. It fail after a few runs.

Takes up to an hour for a full charge, and apparently 5 minutes to get an hour worth of playback.
The lack of cables flapping up and down my neck helped me to run longer! Music feels/sounds like it's coming out from my brain, which is GREAT. Figuring out how to change the playlist was a problem until I read the comments in this thread; thanks guys.
it hardly lasts for 6 months. i have changed it 3 times thinking the problem was with my set. all the time i faced the problem with charging it. not worth the money
I've had mine for about 3 years and started to have issues to get it to charge, however, I was able to solve that, but the thing I can't fix is that no computer will recognize it to add new songs. I tried the reset, cleaning the charging metal part, I tried different USB ports. I'm stuck with the same songs 4ever :(

Same problem. Nothing to do about that, the connect pads get fucked up by sweat and time and then it doesn't charge anymore. Tried to clean it with special solution, worked previously but not anymore. It lasted two years for me, what a shit. Can't understand the dumb engineer who designed that crap charging system.

I have this mp3 but unfortunately i rolled over the charger with my car. The replacement charger from sony is 47 dollars!!!! thats half the price of the mp3. I wonder if people will make knock offs soon. Mark Holmes, any idea how to get a replacement?

Hi! I'm having a big trouble with my walkman. The left side of it is not working.....but when i press the volume or what so ever, it works. It's just.... I don't hear anything on it. Please help meee :(
I have a pair if you put them on RIGHT then they work. You need to find the ear buds which best fit YOUR ears and all will be good :)

Computer says it's 98% battery ok.. still can't get it to play music. Just got this too.
Wish I could figure out what's wrong. Even checked folder under the Walkman icon --music is there..clicked it on, and it plays on my computer! ARGH!!! yes, I double checked the volume, double checked lock button, double tried everything!!!!
Guess I'll head to the pool w/out it.
My son and I were stumped as well. Where we screwed up was not making absolutely sure the lock was unlocked. Instead of getting frustrated, which my son did, we kept going back to first base but this video helped us quite a lot since neither of us are tech savvy. I think this MP3 player ROCKS. We got our music off our music library in Windows Media player. It is absolutely essential that setting up your player is done correctly. Take a breather, have a drink, sigh a little and try again. Of course yours could be defective, it happens.
don't buy this crap... been using for 45min /day for over a year and volumes goes soo low u cant hear anything unless you're in a quiet room
After much reviewing I have bought these. It was between these and the aqua beat. I can't stand the thought of having something clipped to the back of my head on my goggle strap as as I'm lapping though.
These would be good for the gym or walking the dog etc also I think.
The only thing I would advice to anyone wanting any water mp3 headphones is to wear a swim cap for additional water sealing. It also stops the headphones popping out of your ears or sliding off your head as you push off from the end of the pool.
Swim caps might look naff but nothing is 100 percent waterproof and you cannot change the headphones on these.

they are heavey they hurt, they are quiet, they fill up after one length and they nearly got thrown across the pool - don't bother buying them ! stressed me right out

great review, really gets me wanting one now, after being disappointed with the iPod Classic ... this player seems more practical and usable, whereas the iPod kinda sucks in comparison

hi i am having a problem with my sony walkman bcr nww270. my pc dont recognized it. not charging. whenever i put on the usb port the red lights gets on and after few seconds it went out. i pressed the power on but no power at all. i also poke the reset button but still no lock. can someone help me please. thank you.

These are great when they work, but a right ache in the balls to get to connect to a computer. It seems to me sometime it works, sometimes it doesn't, nothing you can really do to get it to connect. So buy if you don't mind spend fucking ages waiting around for it to do what its supposed to do.
I think Sony should come with an away from home charger and of course keep the PC charge. But while out and about think of libraries, hotels, motels, and other places. I bet you could charge it at a Walmart even on one of their plugged in PC's. Think out of the box. Even kind hearted people may help if you ask...and you may make a new friend besides. All it takes is 3 minutes for a 1 hour charge.
Bought these two days ago and im nothing short of blown away!!!!!! I dont know if they were made specifically for my ears but they are a perfect fit. I just went swimming in the pool for 45 minutes and I were under water for at least half of the time and at no time did the sound become muffled, as i've read lots of consumers having this problem. I can think of no bad thing to say about these headphones other than the lack of bluetooth. Got em on sale for ~89$. Best money i've ever spent for sure
this device is great when it's working... after some month, you will get problems with usb connections up to the point you will never be able to put it in charge again because it makes use of a personal docking station meaning you have to travel with a laptop to charge your player; I'm now stuck with a useless player I bought 3months ago for 100eur.. And believe me, any "help" on the net works to get it back playing
Stop into a public library where they have computers you can use for free. One 3 minute charge is and hours play. Plus, most people are pretty kind hearted as a general rule and I'm sure someone would let you charge your MP3. Hotels and motels are quite accommodating as well. Where there is a will, there is a way. I bought one for my son and haven't had any problems ....YET. Even if I did Sony's rep is really good.
I think you can charge it by a Sony phone charger or car charger

hey man is it really that good ? cause i've been hearing other reviews sayin its shit from the volume to its sound suppresing capability. even when its in water they say its blurry, can u reply to me and tell me straight up that its good cause i really need headphones for swimming, aquabeats just sucks keeps fallin of my ear
thanks for the great review Mark! It helped me to decide for this bad boy. I cannot count the time I ripped my earplugs out while walking the dog (the cats like to play with the cables, too) or how often my MP3 player fell out of a shirt pocket. This is a great design.

Its just 5 days and it stopeed working.. the green light flickering , but cant play or switch off.. can anyone help?
All I know is you need swiss watch makers tools to do anything on these buttons nevermind your fingertips.. Not impressed so far for the price.
i have this walkman write now, but they sayed this mp3 have zappin function which i dont founded yet, and other scared thing that this walkman cannot rewind songs to the desired location :(( thats sad for me :(( i have bought this today
Keep the PLAY button pressed for about one second and you will hear the Zap function initiated. Quick press on the PLAY again to select the song you're currently previewing. It will automatically begin from the start of selected tune. Enjoy.

I really hate the new design of how sony makes their walkmans charge using those exposed copper pins. Half the time it won't work and you can waste hours trying to clean the copper heads so they can contact well enough with the power unit to start charging... Actually I got so frustrated one day that I just threw the damn thing on the floor and stepped on it to pieces, best feeling after all that built up ire

it is locked, unlock it from the little switch next to the power button.
Left speaker doesn't work anymore after 1 swim. Water kept leaking in to the ears. No proper sealing.

I've got the 2 previous models of this, using the previous ones for long periods of times kinda hurts the back of my ears. Hope the new one will have a difference.

lobserve1 I beg to differ and they don't keep popping out. But here is a DIY for that problem. Take Sherpa or a really soft puffy cloth and make a mini cushion for your ears. Whahla no more aches/pains or complaints.
DELICIA AMBROSINO yea, I'm not spending $90 so that I can make a cushion. IMHO, they are not nearly as comfortable as regular ear buds. I don't doubt others find them comfy but they hurt my ears.
I had these, they worked awesome, but one of the stereos broke off and only one side works now :(

How did you get these in January? I just picked mine up this month when they went on sale. They are a fantastic product. Although I had definite problems with them in the pool. Water deadened the sound and made the product unusable in the pool. What a drag.

ive just got a pair but how do you turn the shuffle off? i click and it says shuffle off but the player doesnt play the full song, starts in the middle of the song then swishes to the next?

There is a diode for whenever you turn it off, if it's green it got plenty of battery, if its yellow/orange it's got aprox. half of battery remaining, if it's red it means it's running low on battery and if it's blinking red it means you need to charge it. And to your other question, no, there is no bass boost button. Not that I think youll need one anyways.
It's probably a dumb question mate, but since its not for use on salty water, is it safe if sweat reaches the unit?...Thanks in advance mate...

To be honest I wouldn't know, I use a windows pc. Try going on to the Sony forums to see if any other mac users are having the same problem.

The sound quality is great. When your under water it feels a bit weird at first but you soon get used to it. As for running i haven't tried yet, but when Im walking the dog i can't hear anything other than the music. Hope that helps :-)

You can safely use it with an outlet usb plug, the only thing that happens is that you get more amps and the mp3 player will charge faster, but it will not burn out or anything like that.
