    Saw this video 5 months ago. Bought a rope and started. 3x per week. Now I can do 20 of the moves. 44 yrs old started at 200 lbs. lost 10 lbs but gained lots of muscle. Love it. Travel for business, best exercise.

      @@notjustanyuser Wow this is an old post. Never got replies. I started with time and progressed. To jumps. 5 min for the first 3 months then to 10 and 15. Keep in mind I was in my 40's. Cadence was around 100 jumps per minute.

  • @stargazer5511
    @stargazer5511 10 лет назад +31

    I'm 43 and here is how I started. I would do 25 jumps then walk for about 1 min. I would do this for 10 mins only. I know people laugh at jumping rope but trust me it's hard as hell. I'm now up to 75 jumps and the workout is 25 mins long. I'm losing weight and feel great. If your older I would suggest jumping on carpet or outside in the grass. It's tough on the knees so take your time. Don't get ahead of yourself. Set a limit and stick with it for the first few weeks.

    Rope skipping is a great cardio, it can even be as effective as running in terms of calorie burning when you do it at a fast pace! To some, it may not look as useful, because you're jumping in one place, but actually it proves to be a full body workout, as it works your arms, legs, abs, heart, plus it improves coordination, speed, and agility, which is why it's so popular as an exercise in fighting sports. Skipping techniques are important too when it comes to efficiency, and this guy in the video shows some excellent ways to up your game!

      @MagisterGentis 10 лет назад +11

      TheHarabeli100 As a medical student, the only thing I advise against is doing to heel to toe methods en jumping on the heels. It puts way to much pressure on your calcaneus and so on the ankle joint. Your knee joint will also suffer a lot of pressure this way. The other things are all okay. It's like running, it can be very bad for your skeletal system but if you have the right technique it should be fine :)

    Can you do 30 minute sessions every day, or should you take a day off to rest in order to avoid injuries?

  • @jeynalim

    I'm hoping to add variation to my jump rope workout; I do 1000 normal jumps daily and I feel like I need to add on to it to work on different muscles. Great video, I'll be using it as reference from now onwards :)

    • @bloomtofit
      @bloomtofit  10 лет назад

      Jeyna LSC Perhaps instead of doing 1000 "normal" jumps, try mixing it up with some of the variations I've shown. No need to add any more repetitions.

    • @jeynalim
      @jeynalim 10 лет назад

      Bloom to Fit I'll try. It's hard to master all of these.. I've tried a few and my pace somehow slows down alot. No idea why.. haha!

    • @bloomtofit
      @bloomtofit  10 лет назад

      There's no need to master all of them Jeyna. Pick 1-2 and really focus on those. I suggest you try to learn the running on the spot variation.

    • @jeynalim
      @jeynalim 10 лет назад

      Bloom to Fit I'll try to focus on that. My pace slows down when I do it, I guess it takes time.

      Bloom to Fit Btw, what other exercises do you pair up with your skipping rope sessions? I know skipping rope is not enough but I'm not sure what else to include in between.

    This is really a nice video fragment. I didn't knew, there were so many variants of rope jumping. You got me convinced, I'll start to do these excercises. It looks easy, but it takes
    coordination, timing, balance, speed, power, and persistence.
    Thanks for the video.

    • @bloomtofit
