    You speak with so much love for the objects and it shows in how you handle them as well. Quite pleased with your respectful way of handling them. I have a Dhyangro myself (with a special story as to how he got to me) and I had learned a lot about it already (He truly feels like an old friend to me), but the offering of the egg to the drum (and at the same time feeding the skins) was new to me. Thank you very much for that knowledge. Blessings!

    I had the beautiful privilege of playing one today. It was a magical experience. Exactly as you said I had to stop myself. I nearly took me and the clerk on a journey. Imagine drumming yourself to sleep would be magical!!

      Hi Raven Yes the shamanic bells are wonderful, There used here mostly to help create trance states. Bell chains are used to call helpful Macharn from the spirit world and the iron bells act as protection from harmful spirits.I will make a video about the shamanic bells soon

    There are also the painted drums (with symbols and landscapes) that are used in a slightly different form of divination. They put a ring on top of one side and drum underneath and because of the vibration the ring will move across the surface of the drum and reveal the answers through the ring that dances over the landscapes and symbols.

      That’s very interesting Lilith . I’ve seen rice dancing and then counted off on the denguru nepali shaman drums and also on different metal plates and a very rare type of engraved bronze bowl used for divination but I haven’t seen with the Ring . Is that a nepali tradition?

    Hi Paul, thanks for the great video, very interesting. Posting this again here. Do you use a specific breathing here or something which is spontaneous. Thank you

      Hi Ben, Thank you that's an interesting question,! Yes, I'm breathing deeply and slowly into my belly.as i begin to drum, Pausing between the breaths, but without any strain, relaxing as much as possible, into each breath. As the drumming begins to take me into an altered state, My breath begins to pump spontaneously between my belly and solar plexus .and at the same time I'm feeling a strong vibration in my perineum and up my spine. Its this inner vibration and the abdominal pumping, that's beginning to vibrate my body as i go into trance. This is something you see frequently amongst Himalayan shaman.

      Hi yes I have a number of Denguru in England With shaman practitioner friends Who are looking after things for me while I’m in nepal . Also a few of the large open backed shaman drums with lots of magical forged ironwork from the chepung people . You could video call with my friends to hear the different drums . One easy way to put you in touch might be Facebook messenger . Message me at Paul wilkinson. And I can send you the links to my friends looking after the drums

    Dear Paul, thank you so much for sharing your wisdom and gifts in teaching, healing and holding space. I am currently in Nepal (been living here over 2+ years) and was soulfully drawn to the Dhyangro as a divine vessel vehicle, and currently seeking one that fits and flow with my spiritual path. Would you be so kind to recommend some local contacts? Much gratitude and appreciation. ~ SHAN

      Dating shamanic ritual objects is quite difficult. There

    • @paulwilkinson5970
      @paulwilkinson5970  2 года назад

      There are a lot of different things to look out for . In Dating shamanic drums .The amount of wear and patina on the phurba handle . Gives some indexation of the amount of use . Although some ritual objects are used only occasionally or kept in a shrine room as an ancestral object so wear isn’t always an indicator . Most Denguru frames are slit with the grain then heat bent in to a circle the overlapping part has iron or wooden pins or binding these can show deepening coloring with age . There are lots of stylistic quality’s that indicate age . Offen new drums are less well carved . The leather drum skin will also show wear as well as deep patina from smoke and offerings old drums have a particular feel . If the phurba drum handle has a Forged iron or copper tip that can be an indication of where also the iron work or copper work has a particular tone darkening with age . Old drums usually have at least 3 magical objects inside more modern drums made to look old often don’t have these elements . Forged ironwork always has flattered hammer marks very fine ironwork on a drum is more likely to be old . If the drum has its original skin this is most likely to be dear skin from a male animal on one site and a female dear on the other there are often traces of fur on the edges . Sometimes other animals like bear skin are used or rare animals like musk dear in old drums . Most modern drums use goat skin .

    Hello Everyone,
    This is Basu Pakhrin Tamang from Kathmandu, Nepal I'm so worrie about this video because instruments which use in Nepal supply in aborad, which indirectly effects in Nepal.

      Hello, Basu Thank you for your interest and concern about preserving Nepali culture. I've been actively involved in preserving and sharing Nepali culture for more than 20 years . Have studied, and with many of Nepal's most powerful shaman, and filmed thousands of rituals and 46 of your wonderful festivals. Nepal has an incredibly sophisticated shamanic tradition, and one of the last fully intact ancient traditions in the world. Nepali shamanism is very rich and complex and varies greatly across the different tribal groups, but in general, it integrates all sorts of technologies of consciousness, yoga, and tantra medical herbalism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Bon, combined with nature gods, etc . I've been involved in collecting using and dealing in ritual objects from Nepal and around the world for more than 30 years.I sell almost exclusively to Practitioners, Shaman Yogis Meditators Tantricas from all over the world, and having access to original and energetically charged ritual tools is very important in the preservation and development of culture. Nepal like other countries has strict laws around the export of antiques, and in addition objects like the Shamanic drums are not widely exported because they are bulky and expensive to send, But they are an essential and valuable tool with many fine qualities that western shaman enjoy learning from and integrating into their practice . Shamanism is a living tradition in Nepal so ritual objects like the drums are still being made, by master drum makers, and some international demand serves in a small way to supplement shamanic incomes.The Real danger to shamanism in Nepal is Economic and cultural decline . Most shamanism in Nepal and world wide exists outside of a money economy, The shaman sustains themselves and their family through gift exchange rather than money, by being given rice or chickens in exchange for healing. This works in an agricultural society, but when money is needed for school fees a mobile phone or a motorbike,it often leaves Shamanic families very poor . Being a shaman is rather a difficult and often dangerous, life it requires huge energy and constant learning and i know many shamanic families where the children have not carried on the traditions. Powerful shaman without students with sufficiently high ability,to pass on their full knowledge. Nepali culture is extremely rich,but 10 years of civil war and massive corruption makes it poor, so that 5000,000 Nepali mostly young men are abroad trying to earn money to send home, So 20% of agricultural land is not farmed and many of the traditional crafts, as well as shamanism, are at breaking point. The young don't want to learn blacksmithing or weaving or drum making or to dig out metal for casting in the mountain jungles, away from everyone for months at a time. The west has already lost most of this deep connection with its ancient traditions, But there are still people there with great natural energy and gifts, and its part of my job to share this knowledge and to keep it alive and well. Because it is our shared human tradition, knowledge at least 50000 years old .its valuable and should not be lost
