Just looking outside on a normal day.
Some guy runs in the street yelling "Casper!"
Just another normal day is suburbia.
Haha
Wearing a Ghostbuster uniform, no less.
CASPHAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
Does that part cut out on the video now?
If Luigi can defeat ghost with a vacuum, why question that logic.
Yeah but Luigi's vacuum is a special one, built by E. Gadd. There it's a random one. Unless that's the mansion where Luigi dies and that's his vacuum...
Is a vacuum that use to fight ghost is a cilche
Same Difference.
That game wasn't even around when Casper was released.
You can't really compare the two since Casper was released BEFORE the first Luigi's mansion game. Also, NC is right; Ghost can go through anything except vaccums and we will never know why. What a intriguing mystery X)
does this mean Gostbusters and Casper exist in the same universe?
Bella Nursery that would actually have a lot of dark implications for the Ghostbusters film
Hard to tell. Maybe it's an alternate reality.
Rising Of the Thorn who you gonna call someone else - ghostbusters 2016
That would be AWESOME
There was a spinoff about Casper the friendly ghost meeting Wendy the good little witch. I smell a cinematic universe!
At 09:18.
When your foot feels tingly. That's the feeling of oxygenated blood flowing back into your foot muscles after a period of semi cut off circulation . So Casper must be made of of unknown life forces constantly flowing back into a Ghost. Which is basically a soul and a mind stuck together without a body.
Or the writers were drunk when they made wrote that line. Whatever comes first.
JOSEPH THATS A FUN FACT THANKS FOR THAT
The answer is yes.
Eh, i like to give em credit and say they WERE smart when they wrote that but the wording was the weird part.
@@romdan7136 And I’ll give some credit, Casper is a kid and likely doesn’t know the details or doesn’t have a good grasp on complicated language yet. They could just have the dad cut in there to explain.
@@dr.altoclef9255 Plus i mean, you think his uncles are gonna teach him that kind of language? XD

OK
He has ALL the cameos.
Wait, Wait, Wait! the dad died by falling off a cliff, soul leaves the "BODY" and he becomes a ghost, right? the ghost goes into the machine and he come out in a new "BODY", so does that mean he has a new body while his old one is rotting at the bottoms of a cliff? what happens if the police find the old body and come around investigating only to find him in his new one? this sounds like a whole new movie we NEED to see! Right?
omgggggg
Fierce Deity Link Also forget just bringing people back to life, that thing can grow bodies? What if a solider gets wounded beyond treatment, but will live with. Just send them into a situation where they won’t win, die, and have them come back to life, fully remembered and ready to fight again. Give those chemicals to a scientist, (I mean if it reformed Kat’s father, he should at least have trace amounts of it in his blood, they could at least synthesize something) You may have an immortal army at you’re disposal.
Casper:...Don't ever question this movie's logic again! -slap-
That would be awesome!

Take a shot for the unexplained psychic powers. Take a shot for the one-note bullies.

Okay but why wouldn't King make his settings in Maine. It's where he knows. It's also why a quarter of his characters are authors, and half of them have trouble kicking cigarettes, and an eighth of them have trouble kicking drugs

I loved this movie as a kid in the 90s. My favorite parts of the movie was when the Ghostbuster says "who you gonna call? someone else!" and my other favorite part is where the priest says "it's gonna be a piece of cake, a piece of crumb cake."
Is it just me or does the CG ghost woman look like Vanessa from Bee Movie?

+Rachael Lefler you're scaring the straights
+Luke Trahan hey leave hentai alone it did nothing wrong
That ending
pure cringe
I'm not even sure what to make of it.
Don't ask.
Casperrrr!!
I thought it was funny. There are cringey parts like when they're at the gate and when he tells them to hug him but I mostly appreciate the effort and sense of humor. The kid that pushed him saved the moment from extra cringe and it fit perfectly. If people around him laugh and like the humor it doesn't feel cringey.
"Oh, great. You opened the pits of hell, I hope you're happy."
I will not let this quote die. XD
16:15 Casper: Hey, her screaming voice turned into the Nostalgic Critic!
Me: I agree with you Casper. Her voice really does turned into him.
"they can go through walls but not a vacuum bag? how the hell does that work?" I would say that it's Luigi's mansion logic, but that came out after this movie, so I have nothing.
Yeah and even that makes no sense seeing as that vacuum is specifically designed for containing ghosts.
SpectreDragon yeah I was going to say there's probably some materials ghosts can't pass through. It's like how Superman has X-Ray vision, but can't see thought led.
Lead*
I’m going Fairly Odd Parents butterfly net logic. If it floats in the air a vacuum can suck it up.
Question: The dad died at that construction site thing, but then was made corporeal again in the Lazarus machine... Does that mean there's the him that's hugging Kat now and the still slowly rotting corpse that was his original body lying around somewhere???
LadybugMambo yes
LadybugMambo eww
WHAT THE HELL DID CASPER JUST SAY ABOUT LOGIC IN THIS MOVIE?!
omg...
Lazarus machine? if that is a batman reference then 1) *applause* and 2) XD
Actually Lazarus is a common name associated with restoration and being brought back to life. In the Bible, Lazarus was a man who Jesus brought back to life after being dead for four days. So its used a lot when it comes to things that bring people to life or sustain them for long periods of time. The Lazarus Machine (Seen here in Casper) or the Lazarus Pit, which as you pointed out is in the Batman comics.
Man that "keep you" scene confused the hell out of m while I was learning the language. Nine year old me didn't know if I was missing some American term of endearment slang or if Casper was just insanely creepy lol
gotta create channels to comment!? WAH Omg lol
More like a kid who didn't really know what it meant, you know kids are idiots.
Thanks to James Horner’s wonderful music score during the scenes with heart, I have to admit to having a soft spot for this film. A mildly, likable, good film.
i love that Haunting music played over "sad scenes" , it has some steampunk cred with that Lazarus machine that looks like its right out of Victorian Horror film.
i’ve always loved how everyone in that ending scene was such a good sport about the critic’s skit. even HE couldn’t resist a huge smile during it
At least, he didn't had to sit through Casper: A Spirited Beginning, holy shit that was horrific. So bad, Pauly Shore is a ghost. Now that's scary.
I have that btw
Aren't both *Rodney Dangerfield* and *Ben Stein* in that one too?
"SNIVEL, I WILL DEMIST YOU!!!"
And James Earl Jones too haha.
I still want him to review Spirited Beginning
anyone else want a full version of "Filler"?
He even managed to hit MJ's high note perfectly
I think this might be the best episode.
K. I Donna
Definitely one of my favorites
defenatly the best I've seen so far
definitely one of them
this was over 9000
My theory was always that the longer a ghost had been a ghost the more they lost the defined features from when they were alive along with their old memories.
That actually makes complete sense to me and it's a creative outlook :)
They've got kind of a Haunting of Bly Manor thing going on.
“He melted! He melted away! Hug meeee!”
I love that skit.
"HUG ME, BROTHAAAAA!!!!"
I wonder why they cut it.
+Channel Awesome
17:43 - "Okay, here's a question for ya, Casper: How come half of the ghosts in this movie have hair and clothes and the others don't?"
Casper and the other three ghosts died a long time ago, but Kerrigan and Kat's father died only recently. My theory is that the longer a person is dead, the more they forget about themselves, causing their self-perceptions to become less detailed. Casper's housemates died so long ago that they have forgotten their own names and only remember a single trait about each of themselves. Casper died slightly more recently than his housemates, so he does remember a little bit of who he was. Kerrigan and Kat's father each died mere hours ago, so they still remember a fair amount of who they were.
Some would argue that Kat's father didn't remember too much of who he was despite dying only recently, but I say his memory was influenced by the fact that he was drunk when he died, causing his ghost to also be "drunk" until the pinky promise triggered an emotional response. This idea of an emotional response is also why Casper suddenly remembered how he died upon seeing his old sled.
That is one good theory! yes, the movie may not be perfect and it was easily just a design problem, but it is still one cool theory!
That's a good theory...
But wait, something doesn't smell right with this...
...
...
Oh wait! I know! It's a great big pile of SHUT THE HECK UP!!!
(Yeah, I know, I couldn't resist... lol).
Sarah Adair My question is if that was the case, how was Casper remembered who he was, his traits didn’t come to him. If his appearance is based on memories, shouldn’t they return to him?
Doesnt explain how cats mom has hair etc so the logic doesnt follow
@St. Govender: Kat's Mother's not a ghost in the movie, she's an angel.
I have so much respect for the critic. His ambition and passion reflects very well in every video but this one is a new level of awesome.
Agreed

These puns were my favorite part in his review of this film
“Kat tries to figure out what to wear for Halloween.” What about Wednesday Addams? I bet she’d look good as Wednesday.
My brother and I used to watch this film on VHS everyday after school for some reason.
...masochism?

Well, _I_ used to watch the two Scooby Doo movies... A lot.
SITAMA!
I remember watching
Land before time I visited when I was like 7 good times
I like the Simpson's theory that Casper is the ghost of Richie Rich
There are several things that disprove that theory. 1) Casper's last name is McFadden. 2) Casper died of pneumonia. 3) The reason they look similar is because they were once both drawn by Warren Kremer. Other than those things, I think it's a good theory.
I loved the cutscene in Family Guy where Casper was playing catch with Stewie. He went too far into the street and was hit by a car. Stewie felt bad, but Casper said that he wanted to kill himself.
There was actually a comic where Casper and Richie Rich were friends, so safely jossed.
Casper's voice (in the movie, not the critic's version) reminds me of Jimmy Neutron
The voice of Casper is Malakai Pearson, And he doesn’t voice jimmy neutron, debi drayberry voices him
It sounds like Felix the Cat to me.
I mean the nostalgic critic voice sounds like Felix to me.
*T I M E T O G R O W S O M E G E N I T A L I A*
The 'Can i keep you?' moment is much more cuter in the french version. Casper says 'Will you stay with me? ' wich is far less creepy and make more sense. Is Cat a toy for him or what? I find it strange!
The ending always makes me smile, love every minutes of it. All my compliments Doug ^^
This review is one of my favorites with Rodney dangerfield, Pounds puppies and the commercial saga.
I think "Will you stay with me" is truer to Casper's intentions and feelings.
That Harley Quinn at the end with "CLEAR CLEAR" had me dying
What about Casper Meets Wendy???
I want him to review that
Casper: A Spirited Beginning.
Casper needs to take over Nostalgia-Ween
I loved that movie, but I haven't seen it in ages.
Both straight to Video and he said only big screen version
Ending was 10/10
0:52 only cinematic release? I'm pretty sure there was a sequel with Wendy.
That film and "Casper: A Spirited Beginning" were released direct-to-video.
Casper Meets Wendy is my favorite.
As a kid I thought of "Can I keep you." as 'can you stay forever with me' as a kid does. I mean as an adult yes it is creepy but it makes me think of when you rescue a dog or cat & you ask your parents if you can keep them because you instantly love them & want them to stay forever.
why does casper look like jimmy neutron to me
Yes! And why did the dad as a ghost look like Jimmy Neutron's dad to me?!
Now that you mention it, the ghost lady reminds me of Cindy's mom.
Holy shit just realized that
fawful hallie his body is Jimmy Neutron's head turned upside down.
Lol theory time!
I freaking love how much fun he has at the end during the chase

TIMING!
That was weird. I read this as soon as casper yelled TIMING!
Casper: the only movie to reference Luigi's Mansion.
Nah, other movies have referenced Ghostbusters
But I did notice the *obvious* reference
Luigi's Mansion came out in 2001, while this movie came out in 1995. But I do think it's weird that the reference to Ghostbusters is more similar to a reference to Luigi's Mansion.
I mean, I think it meant to reference Ghostbusters, as Luigi's Mansion referenced Ghostbusters.
This came out 6 years earlier but it having ghosts get sucked up in a vacuum is oddly similar to Luigi's Mansion.
3:35 that's Vinny's voice from Atlantis the Lost Empire!!! The priest even looks like Vinny to be honest.
This movie was a huge part of my childhood. I LOVED LOVED LOVED it. If you are a strongly empathetic person, this movie is a bit different. The music really gets the feels going. I always liked the part where he said "Can I keep you?" It was like a strong love, almost eerie. I'm not sure how to explain it lol but the music that is playing while he says that is beautiful. One of my favorite movies as a kid.
I would have assumed Eric Idle's only regret would be secret of nimh 2

EJEEJHEJE
18:07 So, there is a corpse somewhere in a hole outside of a bar who was actually the father of Kat, and also there is the rebirth Father of Kat, from the machine... 0 logic.
Plot hole I’ve always wondered about...if Casper’s father was locked up before using the machine, then how does Casper know it’ll work or what the red stuff is?
I don't care what Doug says...this movie is a timeless classic in my eyes. I usually watch it every Halloween. It's a fun movie and as far as live-action adaptations of cartoons go, it's certainly one of the better ones.

I saw most of this film in 6th grade and I'm not kidding you when she said "Piss off!" one of the kids was questioning the movies rating thinking it was possibly R!
Edit: Okay the bitch is back part is really pushing the PG!
Welcome to early 1990s movie ratings. Related: Spaceballs, in the late 80s, said "Fuck" at one part.
Incidentally, the father in this movie (Bill Pullman) was Lonestar in Spaceballs.
Austin Lucas Ah, back when the ratings were actually meaningful and appropriate
I remember Eric Idle saying at one point 'We'll have a dog called Karrigan.. A BITCH just like you!!' It's cut out in most versions

Sadly THAT'S the closest of a Ghostbusters III we have :(
I think James Horner was the Hans Zimmer of his time. RIP.
So true
I love this review, even 7 years later.
Doug, the whole GMX skit of that was friggin hilarious. I hope you can, someday, do stuff like that for a con again.
Omg the convention footage made this episode, he so commit to that and it was beautiful
"[Casper's house] looks like Willy Wonka's brothel"
Nostalgia Critic / Doug, did you know that Casper's house, Whipstaff Manor, was largely based on the works of famed and celebrated artist and architect Antoni Gaudí? You know, the designer of the Sagrada Família and the Casa Batlló in Barcelona, Spain, both of which are visited by millions of tourists every year? The guy whose works are on-par with Vincent van Gough or Claude Monet, and whose artworks are considered "priceless"?
This detail appears to have been cut from the film, but the design of the Manor heavily implies it to be Gaudí creation, possibly commissioned by Casper's [wealthy] inventor father. That would mean that Casper's house would actually be considered a "priceless" work of art.
Awwww how come Casper isn’t in more videos????? Please???
no...Casper was the cringiest thing in this review
This movie is a lot better than you're making it out to be. Watch Casper A Spirited Beginning and Casper Meets Wendy, THEN watch this one and you'll see a huge difference in quality. Well, this was back when you were more harsh on movies almost all the time. I'd like to see you review this today.

The ending was cut off where he chases Casper with a vacuum.
I actually really loved this movie when I was a kid. I recently watched it again and enjoyed it.
Hey, I actually liked Casper! And I saw it the first time a few months ago! Now to be fair, half the time I wasn't listening, and I was only watching it because it was the only semi-interesting thing on TV, and the plot completely went over my head because half the time that I actually was listening, my aunts were arguing about something and I couldn't hear a thing anyone was saying. And on top of that, I only started watching 30 minutes in, so I missed most of the backstory on why they were in the house to begin with. But for the quarter of the movie I actually could hear and was paying attention to, I actually thought it was funny and creative. I had no idea what the crap was going on most of the time, but that was because of the aforementioned distractions, not bad storytelling on the part of the movie makers.
I love the ending. How much fun was that to shoot?
Exposition, exposition, all shit out A.S.A.P.

It's a shame the ending was cut out. I really loved that part, but I guess fair use isn't always fair.
maybe the longer your a ghost the less human you look hence all the ghosts at the start not looking like humans and all the ghosts of people who died during the movie have hair and shit
and then when you ascend you keep that form forever
Casper is a good film.
I really appreciate that ending, stuff like that doesn't happen often enough, and it can be very fun. Thank you for that, even if I wasn't part of it
Overall best episode of all time. I remember seeing this 10+ years ago when I was living in Colorado. 9:29 oh and that look!
This episode is phenominal! I would consider it one of the best! The ghostbusters tie in and going to a convention yelling about a casper the friendly ghost, your confidence is amazing and it makes me smile every time I watch the episode. I could never do something like that (probably because people would look at me like I'm insane) still well done. This is amazing!
