You should buy a fine tip soldering iron, heat station and fine solder to do repairs like this. These tools are not expensive. Hakko clones are pretty good.

How do you know the value of the ceramic capacitor? I have the same laptop model with the same problem, but the shorted capacitor is on different location.
What was the purpose of injecting 3v to confirm the ceramic capacitor was generating heat if you could just use multimeter to identify the faulty capacitor??
