You're gonna lose your cookies when you finally get around to TBP I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop! I can't wait to see the look on your face and hear you squeal with joy like a kid on Christmas morning. Mark my words. It will happen! 🤣🤣🤣
As someone else has said Praise You is a great one but a Gorran original "Swan Song" recorded in a church in which Ren plays melodica is a real hidden gem.
I’ve noticed that people who are exceptional at what they do often either value the group performance over their own, or are so confident in their ability that they aren’t threatened by anyone else. This is one of the reasons that “The Big Push” work so well together.
I just learned about Ren a few weeks ago and I've been smitten ever since. He's absolutely incredible. A genius indeed. The Big Push guys are also incredibly talented. Im still in the process of going down the Ren rabbit hole, and loving every minute!
Still love Praise You song and that you they ended up jamming the track on the streets of Brighton a few months later and by some synchronistic freak occurrence the Fatboy himself walked passed, caught the performance, filmed it, and stuck it on his Instagram
Sad to say but Ren's been releasing health updates on his Community page and well, it's not good. He's going back into treatment in Canada in October (the soonest they can get him in) and he's trying to wrap up a project before then as his health deteriorates again. From the sounds of things, it's going to be 6 months or more of even more intensive treatments than last time. So, it'll be a while before any of us get to see him perform live in person.
That explains what I noticed in his 'Kujo Beat Down' video. When he walks off screen to get the Kujo double, his walk is a bit strange. I hope his treatment goes well and that he feels better soon.
The Big Push doing Wade in The Water/Nina Simone/... is a fun watch. You see Ren literally lose himself in the music singing/scatting & while playing bass, you get Gorran with a great vocal section, Romain does his thing on the guitar & Glenn on the drums. Also, a funny little laugh moment in the beginning, as well. Also, really good: What kind of Woman is this, they each get a moment to shine. But that is one of the great things about The Big Push--they are all great and really let each other shine. I've been enjoying your breakdowns.
You should react to some freestyling by Ren and Liv. It's phenomenal, especially the one called something with live in the title. Totally off the cuff performance and you see Ren at his happiest
One of Ren's best vocal performances with TBP is one that doesn't get requested quite as often. It's called "Oh My Woman". He is the only lead on it and a lot to analyze imo. Fred Again Mashup is another great vocal. Both different from what you've heard so far. 🥰
Unfortunately, Ren recently tested positive again for bartonella bacteria from Lyme disease & has had to return to the clinic in Calgary. In the past the treatments left him mentally foggy & exhausted. He also found out that, even tho he made it clear that it was very important to him, the audio company that was hired to do his Garden Party concert did not record it! It's a terribly trying time for him.
I’ve seen some really good footage from SGP here on YT. I wonder if people could get their footage to Connor so maybe Ren could use it in some way and make magic the way that only Ren can do. Thoughts??
I've watched this song so many times, and through so many reactions, and nobody has ever pointed out the "not talking over each other with instruments" thing. That's so cool! I'd not thought about it like that before. ❤ I also love the way Ren switched the lyrics from "Confront your enemies, avoid them if you can" to "Befriend your enemies, confront them when you can". A small change but a very Big Push change. They all have that kind of sensibility and it really suits their version. I know Chinchilla supported Sting at a show, but I hope Ren gets to one day. I really think Sting would appreciate the place Ren has taken the influence.
Yep, I couldn't hold a tune in a bucket but Tim always breaks down the technicalities in a way that those of us with zero singing experience can understand. I'll also be 100% honest, I've often tried out some of the stuff Tim has mentioned in his videos when I'm home alone (I wouldn't inflict my tuneless warbling on anyone else other than the cat 🤣)
The laundromat these boots are made for a walk-in then they blend in two other songs. All three of them are singing different songs at the same time it’s cool. Swan Song is also a good choice.
You spoke about Ren’s experiences making him humble. You should definitely do a reaction to Ren and Eden Nash’s song Humble. Amazing vocal performances by both of them in this song, and he talks about exactly this subject matter. Plus, you get to meet a new Ren friend!
If you want pure harmonies from the Big Push, try Swan Song. Written by Gorran , performed in a church. So beautiful. Love to hear your take on this and some of Romaine and Gorran's solo stuff.
I love that you got to hear this one! I look forward to the day that Ren is feeling healthy enough to tour here in the USA; until then, we'll have to continue to enjoy his previous work. And I hope that you feel better soon!
Your reactions just keep getting better and better 🔥 It's such a treat to come home from a long day at work and have a notification that you've dropped another one! You're in my top 3 reactors... Thank you for all the work you put into these, even while you're sick! Hope you're feeling better soon 🫶
'They don't talk over each other: They have conversations'... exactly so! One of the things I love about them is how they both let each other and their instruments 'talk'. Great reaction! ❤❤❤
I find lower notes sexy! Geesh, they all look so young! Still awesome! I love most of ren's stuff. I love your channel as well....I like learning what they are doing, I also watch a movie producer go over his videos!! Very cool. Cheers
I like the little autonomic flexing of Ren's feet at 2:44. It's different from his deliberate foot tapping. His feet seem to unconsciously betray that his playing in that section isn't as easy for him as he makes it look.
Thank you Tim! I’m not sure if it was my comment but I’ve definitely mentioned Englishman in New York and Praise You a couple of times. I loved your breakdown and reaction to these very talented fellas. Thank you so much sir! ❤ Feel better soon.
Sadly I missed the premiere. So it was nice to come home and click on to this . ❤ Thank you for pushing through. Take care of yourself, and feel better soon . TBP Was lightning in a bottle , an amazing group that we may never see , or hear play together again . Which only adds to Their mythology . Hopefully a part of their story will include a reunion.
It's so funny that Ren's song "Humble" ft Eden Nash, is exactly what you were talking about at the end of your reaction. While I prefer their song "Ocean" musically, Humble is an inspiring song. It's on my commute playlist, so I hear it often. (On the E as I'm in LIC 😉) Great reaction as usual! 💛 Feel better ✌️
Unfortunately, seeing Ren live will take longer that anticipated. Look at Ren's messages on his RUclips channel for all the details. Thank you for breaking this down. I really enjoyed your explaining what is going on with Ren's singing and playing along with Romain and Gorran's. I love all of this information so I can enjoy what I am hearing to a greater level.
You know it's a good one when the song runs all the way through in the first 5 minutes of a 33 minutes video 😂 I love these guys, how could anyone not? Thanks Tim, feel better soon.
I grew up with a concert pianist as a mom who taught piano and music theory. Dyslexia made reading sheet music for both hands impossible. Mom would play the first few bars of a song and I would copy her. Then I realized that I could play music that I had heard (like the opening song of Star Wars). I was into orchestra so took conducting lessons and went to music camp every year. “Hi Ren” brought me to tears and I realized that he is a once-in-a-generation type of artist. I have an extremely rare and tortuous neurological disorder. Most doctors think I'm malingering or wanting meds. The odds of getting this is 1 in 32 million (I know of 4 others in the USA). The parallels of Lyme disease include autoimmune disorders, and I've had medication-induced psychosis and hallucinations. I can relate to what he's been through. In “Hi Ren”, he says, “I have stood in the flames that cremated my brain, and I didn't once flinch or shake.” I've been there and it's frightening. Ren’s song, “Seven Sins” describes the past decade for me. I wish I was creative enough to turn my pain into something that brings joy and happiness to people. Ren is literally saving lives by sharing his story. I don't think he will be physically able to tour like most bands, but he's talked about his ideas for a live show. I am getting a passport just in case he performs in the UK. If that's the last thing I do, it will be so worth it!!! I hope you get well soon! Hot tea with lemon, honey, and whiskey is what my grandmother swore by to soothe her throat. 🥃💖 am so excited to be a part of the Renaissance. I have also learned so much from you about vocals that I never knew, so thank you for expanding my knowledge and sharing your love of the artistry of Ren.
I feel like Ren is so aware of how he can express himself with whatever instrument he is using his voice his guitar so I can see him having a thought but almost second nature to him
This song was written by Sting about a man named Quentin Crisp, he was very bullied in his home town in England, for being less than the typical masculine man. He moved to New York and wrote a book called the Naked Civil Servant describing his life as a nude artists model for an art school. Incredible story
Seriously love these reactions. Have watched a number of reactions to this and yours give such great detail to what the musicians and singers are doing and trying to achieve that it really illuminates why I love the performance. Thank so much for the effort and joy you bring to these reactions they are much appreciated. Hanging out for more Ren and friends reactions keep them coming 😊😊
Lovely reaction, as a (classical) musician I really like the value you add by pointing out so much and explaining how it works so clearly! I noticed for the first time today just how often they all switch positions (lowest, middle, highest) with their voices, sometimes per sentence. That adds a layer of complexity to the performance as well, they’re clearly not going for ‘easy does it’ 😂. Unfortunately you’re not going to be able to see Ren live though, he’s done some shows and new recordings in the UK but has had a major health setback and will be going back to Canada for more treatment soon 😕
Oh I’m so glad you did this one. It’s one of my favourites- those harmonies- I love all these guys ❤❤❤ maybe do one of their originals next. Maybe “Watch Out” or “It’s Alright” ❤️❤️❤️
Another fantastic breakdown of music, voice, rhythm and musicianship. You are teaching us a lot about so many different elements that make up a performance. ❤
As others have said there are a number of lovely little videos of performances (other than the brilliant busking ones) by Big Push. My absolute favorite is What Kind of Woman is This? Also Praise You. They will put a huge smile on your face just as this song did! Hope you are feeling better.
Definitely recommend Praise You and Swan Song for some great harmonies. Their cover of Buddy Guy's "What kind of woman is this" is one of my faves of The Big Push too. Check out their mashup of I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop (red suspender version).
One of my top 5 favorite songs by TBP is "It's Allright ", it can calm my anxiety faster than any prescription drug and if I'm already having a good day, hearing"It's Allright " instantly makes it a great day ❤
@ZulaNowowiejska My husband recently shared a version or Praise You that almost put me to sleep. I told him, "Baby... if ya wanna hear how it's done, let me just show you!" I just couldn't. Not when I know The Big Push knocked it outta the park the way they did. It was sweet. He was playing it to me as a love song. The visuals were nice and pretty. But the arrangement was sooooo drawn out and slow. I think I won him over with a version we could boogie to! Lol! ❤️
Great reaction, as always.. thank-you!! As others have said - please consider reacting to their cover of Praise You.. you’ll continue to be amazed! (Hope you feel better soon)!!🤒
Hearing you with a blocked nose is just like hearing all modern singers on the Radio these days. I refuse to listen to them, but am happy to give you the time of day!!! More like this are *Praise You cover (Fatboy Slim) *Swan Song - original. *It's Alright - original *Dignity - always reminds me of early Beatles film footage *Precious - original (lyric video) Ed to add: I get the impression this dog belongs to the house (not their house)? I also get the impression the sofa belongs to the dog and it is a bit disgruntled at having to share it with such noisy humans?
5:54 Again. Jeff Buckley's "Lover you should have come over" and "Grace" will knock you out of your socks when it comes to conveying humanity in a voice. Buy yeah. Always here for Ren, too.😊😊
I was waiting for you to react to this one! It's such a good cover and one of my favorite Big Push songs to just relax to while driving. And I knew you'd have a lot of fascinating things to teach us while reacting. ❤️
I do hope thar the beautiful warmth of this creation helpes make your ucky cold blergh feel better. It always puts a smile in my heart to hear The Big Push. I'll keep requesting that you check out Romain Axisa's song Time After Time live at St Augustines. You will not want to miss this one. Plus I would love for someone to explain the way it's structured and his vocals.
I am a new subscriber and I want to tell you that I love how you go through the whole song first and then go back and react. I wish other reactors would do this. I creates such a better experience. Thank you!
Have you ever checked out Angelina Jordan? Probably the best vocalist I have ever heard. Her toolbox is the size of a boxcar and EVERY skill and technique is MASTER level, at the age of 8 years old. She started singing at 18 months old and fell in love with JAZZ at the age of 3 , and writing her arrangements at 9.
As others have said, Swan Song is a must to react to - the setting, the harmonies and the song are to die for. Their cover of Fatboy Slim's Praise You is inspired too. To see them all get their moment in the sun so to speak, I highly recommend Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble So Hard. Ren's vocals on Oh My Woman will do more than pass your goosebump test I can assure you as well. All 4 are super talented in their own right but together, they create magic - a mix of covers and original songs spanning every genre and style and as tight a band as you will find. The absolute love of music shines through and the joy and freedom in their performances just radiate out.
Geeze Tim You might have been a little under the weather for this reaction BUT brother your brain certainly wasn’t, I feel like you just gave us all an education Appreciate you 🙏 Daz
This is great, but my favorite from this session is them doing “ What Kind Of Woman Is This” - because they each have their own time doing lead vocals.
You're gonna lose your cookies when you finally get around to TBP I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop! I can't wait to see the look on your face and hear you squeal with joy like a kid on Christmas morning. Mark my words. It will happen! 🤣🤣🤣

REN’s low voice is the sexiest to me ❤
Add another vote for Swan Song. Amazing harmonies, and Ren adds another surprising instrument to his list.
Sad to say but Ren's been releasing health updates on his Community page and well, it's not good. His health is more important than any performance, I hope to be able to see him live someday, but I wish for him to get healthier more.
That explains what I noticed in his 'Kujo Beat Down' video. When he walks off screen to get the Kujo double, his walk is a bit strange.
I hope his treatment goes well and that he feels better soon.

Great reaction and like all The Big Push tracks, wonderful....my favorite is " Precious " rather underestimated but it is an incredible song.
Makes me cry. So does "Dignity"
" Precious " is one of my very favorite songs by TBP ❤
Hearing Romain singing in his French accent that he’s an ‘Englishman in New York’ gives me an extra reason to smile over this song.

I agree that Oh My Woman is a great tune. I believe the Fred Again Mashup was one of the first, the second I think, that he reacted to on the channel.
Tim's reaction to the Fred Again mashup was super because he's a Fred fan!

(Hope you feel better soon)!!🤒
and welcome the real star of the vid the staffie lol great cover !
Hearing you with a blocked nose is just like hearing all modern singers on the Radio these days. I refuse to listen to them, but am happy to give you the time of day!!!
More like this are *Praise You cover (Fatboy Slim)
*Swan Song - original.
*It's Alright - original
*Dignity - always reminds me of early Beatles film footage
*Precious - original (lyric video)
Ed to add: I get the impression this dog belongs to the house (not their house)? I also get the impression the sofa belongs to the dog and it is a bit disgruntled at having to share it with such noisy humans?
Hahaha! This comment is a 10 out of 10. Thanks. 👊🏼🔥
I'm a musician. Mainly punk/rock, 90's onwards.. I think this track is amazing. I can't imagine how good it would be for you, beign a proper vocalist.
Love this so much! REN’s retakes and covers are always astonishing.
5:54 Again. Jeff Buckley's "Lover you should have come over" and "Grace" will knock you out of your socks when it comes to conveying humanity in a voice.
Buy yeah. Always here for Ren, too.😊😊
Brilliant reaction & teaching again Tim ❤ TBP are a superb combo of amazing talent 😊
I was waiting for you to react to this one! It's such a good cover and one of my favorite Big Push songs to just relax to while driving. And I knew you'd have a lot of fascinating things to teach us while reacting. ❤️
Swan Song is a must! Beautiful!
That was good thank you for your great lesson
As a musically illiterate older person I may have learned a few things 💕
Blind Eyed with Sam Tompkins. Music Crownes version.
Coming soon.

I'll keep requesting that you check out Romain Axisa's song Time After Time live at St Augustines. You will not want to miss this one. Plus I would love for someone to explain the way it's structured and his vocals.
Thanks, on the list! 💛🙏🏼✨
Time After Time is truly beautiful, especially the guitar❤
@@cathywethington5913 yes; the guitar sings his soul....
This is fun song. Can't wait to hear the breakdown!
Really looking forward to hearing you breakdown "Swan Song".
The Big Push- Black Sabbath paranoid mash up live. Absolutely love it.
Thank you Tim hope your feeling better soon would love you to react to their original Swan Song think you will love it ❤❤
Love Swan Song so much!!! Its just wonderful ... and the harmonies! Great stuff.
I am a new subscriber and I want to tell you that I love how you go through the whole song first and then go back and react. I wish other reactors would do this. I creates such a better experience. Thank you!
🙏🏼
Definitely kept saying it but probably wasn’t me haha. Glad you’re checking it out. Can’t wait to watch this.
It was you! 🙌🏼🔥✨
I appreciate you sharing your wealth of knowledge with us.
Fantastic reaction ❤feel better soon
Ren's first band was "Trick the Fox" can you react to their song called "Fire", please?
Wow you really know your stuff 😀😁 another fantastic reaction video 👍 thank you for being so awesome and gorgeous 😊
💛✨🙏🏼. 😊
What a fun song!!!! I love it. I hope you feel better soon!
Thanks! 🙏🏼
Loved this one, can't wait to see what you'll discover next 🧡🧡🧡

Geeze Tim
You might have been a little under the weather for this reaction BUT brother your brain certainly wasn’t, I feel like you just gave us all an education
Appreciate you 🙏
Daz
lol, thanks! I think my cold might’ve made me a bit rambly. Haha. 🙏🏼✨
This song brings a smile to my face and so did your reaction. Thank you Tim!
Yes! I’m finally getting a chance to sit down and dig into this!
Woo hoo! 🙏🏼✨💛
This is great, but my favorite from this session is them doing “ What Kind Of Woman Is This” - because they each have their own time doing lead vocals.
Ren❤❤❤
Favorite reactions right now, right here!
🙌🏼✨🔥🙏🏼
Ren also plays bass a lot within the big push. I agree with everyone else, whatever they recommend 😊
I can’t wait for you to see him play the bass amazing
Wade in the Water is a great example. I want to say War Pigs he plays bass as well.
I appreciate your Ren reacts so much! 😍Like a clinic😍
