Biggest advice stick to just planning on getting a intake and a tune first start there then get a downpipe and intercooler and there are many other mods but those are the main powerhouse mods
I would have left the stock intercooler in place. Less work. And easier to go back to stock. But thumbs up for doing it the right way. I think you can get that grill on there with a bit of finesse. Looks dope keep it up
There are plenty of videos of this DIY. Unless you dont have a garage, that is. I bought a 2011 GTI with 120k and bad motor and crashed 2012 GTI with 46k miles from Copart, swapping in Engine+DSG, obviously adding Unitronic intercooler, same CTS pipes, turbo muffler delete, full aluminum radiator and new AC condencer. Audi R8 coils , Graf full aluminum water pump, timing kit. It is a lot of fun to work on your own car

the question is how much condensation water will this upgrade produce in cold weather. As it could actually hydrolock your engine if water ingested into cylinders. Even the stock ones need draining in cold weather driving from time to time
Well, it looks like the OEM intercooler is less prone to heat soak than the "upgrade" one. The surface exposed to cool air is a lot bigger on the OEM intercooler.
To be honest man you have to do something with the removed grill that doesn't look good U have a amazing car don't do it like that Tho you can add aluminium grill that gonna look so cool and even not gonna touch that peace it's kinda metal sheet Love your videos

I’m not sure where ARM gets their data, but that Intercooler struggles to support over 400hp, let alone 550. Ask me how I know... I had to upgrade to a Treadstone TR8L for that kinda of supported HP. Either way, good video.

If you compare their FMIC to another 500hp FMIC, you’ll see it’s much smaller. 525hp ARM 23.5x6.5x3=458.25in while a 500hp Treadstone TR8 is 22x7.8x3.5=600.6in The Arm is sized like a 400hp (360whp) FMIC, which is what I was making before replacing it. But, nice build. Any plans on adding a bigger turbo? I know a guy, bolt on for your car.

Thanks for the suggestion! Plans for the car, this summer I want to install the CTS boss big turbo kit. Sadly, there is no stage 3 software to accommodate this upgrade unless you have a GLI. I’ll need a custom from scratch dyno tune. Looking forward to it though!

If you ever need some guidance, hit up GappinCheeks on Facebook. They know about all the fueling or tuning youd needs. Reflect tuning is hands down the best dyno/custom tuner for us and they have a lot of options! MK7 HPFP, 4bar map, pops and bangs... everything. The 1.8t is basically a smaller GLI motor. You can do everything I can. The uni stage 3 tune is not worth it.
So I have a 14 1.8t Passat would this still be technically the same I can’t find shii for my car and looking for performance upgrades all that comes up is for the Jetta I would assume damn near the same engine but just asking before I make a dumb purchase

@@maxscarblog not worried about rocks, I always avoid driving behind large trucks and construction zones, I have a daily driver for that which I care less about. You can definitely feel the difference fully sending it after multiple pulls, doesn’t heat soak or lose efficiency at all. Maybe I would do a temp check down the road

@@davidf6571 you don’t have to remove anything, the stock or the new outlet and charge pipes will route straight to the new intercooler. I’d recommend deleting the stock intercooler though, for weight reduction and Better airflow to your radiator and engine oil
I have a 2014 Passat B7 base, installed it today. Modified the passenger mounting bracket and had to cut the radiator core support square inserts about .5 inch down. Also had to do some trimming inside the bumper. Thank you so much for uploading this video, it nudged me to go ahead and buy the intercooler! The extra pipe in kit came in handy since I have not upgraded the throttle pipe.

Generally speaking, the larger an intercooler, the better it is at cooling the air. But if an intercooler is too large, you can get turbo lag and pressure drop. Since the ARM intercooler is located right in the front, directly in the line of airflow, it can cool the charged air more effectively and efficiently than larger intercoolers in the OEM location, which will eventually heat soak anyways. This is why the ARM intercooler is the best in the market. It’s a genuine front mount, unlike other kits.

Hey, not to nag on your purchase decision but this intercooler is complete trash. I as well went the same route and needless to say it's complete garbage. The inlet and outlet pipes from the core aren't circle, they're oval. Air will always leak from there and your car will sound like harmonica under boost. I used to t-bolt clam and hose clamp it certain way just to keep the air in. Performance is very negligible and for the money you can easily get another core, pipe, even custom mounts. I even have logs from my BT gti with gtx3071r on meth comparing this to my 600 core custom intercooler.
Took about 6 hours with a break for food. Smooth easy install with no fitment issues.

In Canada i save nothing buying the most affordable FMIC, which is this one. Costs in the end same as Neuspeed which is nearly identical.

Yes you get a CEL, it will have to be coded out with OBD eleven, which I am still yet to do. Doing some research with a subscriber on how to do it

Where did you get your front license plate plugs?
They were actually part of the stock license plate bracket, which I just used those creatively to cover the holes!

Only 1 code was thrown, being for the grill shutters. It can be coded out with OBD eleven. Doesn’t affect performance whatsoever though
