    It's a slow process, but once they bring in some young talent things will change for the better. It takes time to grow. Thank you DK

    DK you’ve said this on separate occasions on all three daily shots, fandom is based on hope. When you look at the AHL level, and all the talent there, you can’t help but have it. Two great goalies, solid blue liners, and the most hat tricks Wilkes-Barre’s franchise history? If that doesn’t make you hopeful, then it says more about you! “Sid and the kids” is going to be a thing!

    Dk i agree this first line is a positive and can help the swing back to a winning team. They are also very important to crosby continuing his point per game production and streak.

      Sids played with O'Connor for almost a half a year and ended up PPG plus, it doesn't matter who he plays with. He's always made players better then they are who play with him. Look at Kunitz, what he do after he left and signed a big contract elsewhere?? Just one ie.

      @ourlittleadventures519 how many Stanley cup rings does kunitz have? He was a good player. Unless you want to get rid of sid you need to keep some decent players.

    I think the x-factor here is free agency. The Pens could wind up having tons of cap space and open roster spots to bring in quality players in the mix with the younger players.

    I sometimes think there's too much value in the advanced stats, and you just said three of the top lines in hockey all come from losing squads? I can't overlook the +/- numbers, other line ones skate circles around the Penguins line one in the defensive zone, throw in the weak defense and horrible goaltending they had for most of the season, the whole system was collapsing. I also remember a few years ago when the advanced stats told Sullivan that Domink Simon was a great linemate for Sid, and game after game you'd watch that guy not cash in on any chances, he couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat. Yet Sullivan pumped him out there with Sid and the guy couldn't get 30 points with 87? A few years later, he's not on any line one, he's not even in the league! Over the years when we saw Sid really at his best he had a quick winger and he had a net front crasher......Kunitz, Dubois, Malone, Talbot, and who can forget Hornquist! Rakell has found his spot next to Sid, and he will go to the net, he will possess the puck, and he brings some physicality. I still say Rust is the weak link, he dumps the puck rather than holding on to it, he loses possession when pressured, and he tends to stay on the perimeter. Personally I don't think he's durable enough to play like Hornquist, but there is a guy on the team that may be......Bunting. I would love to see him get his chance with Sid, we see how they work well together on the PP. With that said, I still think Dubas needs to go get a elite winger, if he expects Sid to carry this team, go get him legit talent. They talk about playing the right way, or attention to detail, or being tough to play against......well, line one is not tough to play against. Dubas needs to find a Hymann or Kreider for Sid, allow Sid and Rakell to cut and carve, and the other guy could sew it up from in close while sitting in the paint. I refuse to think what they have is the winning formula when their winning percentage is .482., and has been doing the Penguin Sputter for a few years now!

    J1Q after the first section, would it be more advantageous for the Penguins rebuild/retool to keep 87 67 17 together for as long as their contracts run and see what else they can bring in when the cap goes up, or if significant offers (1sts/top-tier prospects) come for 67 and 17, see what you can get?

      See what we can get my man. If the price is right, it would only be in our best interest to see what teams are willing to pay for Raks, Rust will not waive his no trade

    Follow me hear. Dubas says we want to try and win while Sid is here. That’s over next two seasons. Then trades away a first line winger which they haven’t replaced. But I guess hope they recover through one of the young guys. I think more winger options not one that is as good.
    Okay now this. Trade away a defenceman that is a solid top 4 defenceman who would cost 5.5 million which is very affordable. A D man that they can’t replace with the UFA options. They aren’t as good for the cost. Or a hope they will replace from within, which they don’t have within someone who can play top pairing minutes but maybe top 4.
    I didn’t hate the Peterson trade. I think what they got was good. But if you want to win in two years why trade away players thwt you can’t replace (unless somehow through trade). Meaning you get more players back in numbers but not same level.
    I’m worried that rust or rakell may be traded without a replacement of quality.
    And I kept help feel like I’m not being lied to about trying to win while sid is here. I think you could have kept Peterson. I think you could have kept guentzeL. And I don’t think it would have set you back from winning. And with cap going up. Both could have been okay.

      The moves made is setting the tram up to be contending in 4 years maybe. And if that’s the case. A shame to waste Sids last few years. A guy who is synonymous with winning would play on a last place or lottery team

    • @TerryMccarthy-s3r
      @TerryMccarthy-s3r 17 часов назад +1

      The guy has 3 cups, captained the Pens to 4 finals, won a gold medal, and he's quite arguably top 5 all time. Not every player gets to go out on top. Mario retired with a team that missed the playoffs, Gretzky finished on a crap Rangers team, Jagr was done after a bas Calgary season, and the list goes on and on. Sid knew this was a marginal team when he signed his extension because he wants to be here, and if he changes his mind, which he will not he can approach Kyle Dubas and request a trade.

    • @ourlittleadventures519
      @ourlittleadventures519 16 часов назад +1

      Rust said he would not waive his no trade for your information. And Sid might, hoping probably will, play another year past this 2 year extension he signed that starts next year, so let's say 3 years. Dubas said 3 things, if I remember correctly, he said rebuild the lack of draft picks, rebuild the farm, and give Sid an opportunity to be competitive again. Well, in a year and a half Dubas has rebuilt the draft, big time with 10 1st/2nds in the next 3 years, he's clearly rebuilt the farm, so now he needs to support Sid in with a team that can hopefully go on a run for one last try!! With the cap going up, most likely a trade or two more, I'm really hoping to get rid of #24 Grys while he's actually playing pretty good, and teams have called (sell him high) and if another trade we get another strong package back. We'd have $$ for the off-season, again my hope, to go after Rantenan! We could bring up, if not one, possibly two players from the farm. Our first line would greatly improve. Our second line would greatly improve with a push down of one of the wingers, and it would give a young hungry guy or two times! Our goalie situation would be better from the start of the season. Lots of positives, my man.

      Absolutely. Some fans just don't understand that you can't keep everyone when their salaries escalate. I would have loved to keep Guentzel, but if Gretzky and Jagr can be traded anyone can.

    • @maczed31
      @maczed31 4 часа назад

      @ I don't disagree...however with the current situation you would have been able to keep Petersson for the money he wanted and it would have been a deal given there is no one in free agency coming up this year who is his equal....and guentzel...even if he took same amount....given the cap is going up 7-9 million you would have no problem...in fact they could have fit guentz under the cap this year and not been worse for wear
