Hey, guys! Slightly less energy for this video. I have a real bad fever right now but I'm so hype with your guys support I'm trying to keep up the daily uploads and streams on Twich! Thank you all again!
I've really been enjoying your content, odd! Love how you zoom in on the slivers of tanks you see on the edge of your screen, really helps follow what you're doing. Its the little stuff!
@@patrickeaton9350 I'll add more of those. I assumed the resolution was high enough to see some vehicles, but I'll pay close attention to more of those occasions.
The add-on armor was a WW2 tank commander’s remedy for the weak mantlet. It was actually taken from a Panther. They also added a counterweight to the rear of the turret.
The modifications are a field edit, another interesting fact is that when the gun was test fired against an old Jagdpanzer IV, the shell went through the front plate, through the engine block and out the back, it then buried itself a meter deep into the ground
The Super Pershing was a prototype. 1000 were authorized, but with the end of the war IN Europe, only 25 were ever produced. The existing tanks were used for target practice, following the production of the M48. This particular tank is one-of-a-kind, however. The bolt-on armor was a field modification that happened once.
I love the energy from these videos man XD so many WT RUclipsrs get stuck in these loops of complaining about the teams, the game balance, and overall negativity. But every one of your videos is just full of laughs and having a good time on top of the informative commentary, it’s awesome. I’ve been a player since 2013 so I really appreciate still learning new things about the game after all this time. Anyway, your videos never fail to make me crack a smile and you’re spoiling us with these daily uploads. Can’t wait to see more!
It's ace ive just spaded mine, reload takes the mick though and if your against someone who knows what they're doing they jus shoot under the 'wing' plate on your left turret side an ammo rack you through he turret so if you're angling your turret face it slightly left an your breach and loader will absorb it through he opposite spot which is better then getting ammo racked cause your reverse speed is faster then your forward speed until you unlock engine (i think reverse speed stays the same for tanks throughout their upgrades and the super is quite slow going forwards at first)
I like the Super Pershing, it feels somewhat like an American IS-2. I quite like the slower, methodical play style you have to adopt with it. As to the vehicle itself, it was a unique prototype/proof of concept vehicle that was actually sent to Germany at the end of WWII for field trials. It reportedly knocked out 2 enemy tanks. While in Germany it was upgraded by having extra applique armour welded to its turret and hull, the plate coming from Panther wrecks. The gun made the vehicle very front heavy and the large pistons attached to the turret roof assisted with the recoil and also helped to keep the muzzle of the gun barrel from grounding. The War ended before a production version could be put into service. However the project was continued after the War and a production variant was made with a small number being produced (you may recognise this in WT as the premium M26E1 in the US tech tree). They gun was changed for a different long barrelled 90mm but functionally it was the same. None of the produced tanks ever saw active service and with the advent of HEATFS rounds the concept of an up-gunned medium tank was dropped.
Those 2 pringle cans above the turret had a simple purpose: Nearing the end of ww2 U.S army wanted a bigger gun to match the long 88 on the king tiger they replaced the 90mm on the pershing with a longer 90mm but the gun was heavy and couldnt elevate so they added those cylinders which has some kind of spring mechanism inside to help elevate the barrel. Not only that, the front suspension had too much weight on it since the long 90mm was alot heavier so they also added counter weight behind the turret. Originally the super pershing doesnt have extra armor plating like this so its a field modification but the gun was mounted in the u.s and shipped to the frontlines. The tank crew wanted more protection so they cut the 80mm ufp of panther and placed it on the mantlet and some 38mm plating to the front and turret sides that look like ears
It was a Pershing being tested with a 90mmL72 gun (that had performance equal/superior to the "long 88"). Too much gun led to permanent drooping, so in a field workshop they added equalizer springs off a howitzer carriage, and a hefty counterweight. Then, since the Pershing wasn't truly a "heavy" tank, they cut armor slabs off a Panther and added them to the glacis/mantlet/turret cheeks. The one vehicle was assigned to either the 2nd or 4th AD (can't remember) and saw a little action in the last month of the war; knocked out a couple tanks at long range, I believe.
super pershing is a prototype pershing with added on armour FROM a german panther tank, this was created after they made the modifications to the new barrel , that needs the springs because its so big and it also needs the big counter weight in the back. there was only one or two in germany (where they created the t26e4 which is what it was historically called, and it only saw two battles, no one knows the story of the first, but apparently the second was it destroying a king tiger in a town.
The gun mounted to the Super Pershing was actually an exsperimental case, as it is the same gun mounted to the t32. The sheer weight of the extremely long barrel, needed for higher shell velocity, would eat the vertical drives up, so they added the hydrolic crank system to the top to support the weight of the gun.
Hey Odd. I just wanted to say that as a PhlyDaily viewer, I came here after the shoutout he gave on your behalf. And now that I am here I really like you content! Keep it up dude!
I saw your question was partly answered but in greater detail the hull armor was on it when it was shipped to europe, then the upper plate of destroyed panthers was added to the turret once it reached europe. Very cool tank, seems rare for there to be only one vehicle of its kind yet it saw action and wasn’t a prototype.
The added armor was originally a field modification however overtime it became more popular to use. Not every Pershing had all parts most of which not having the “ears”.
Good laugh had there. ...let's get up in our jet... cut ...Welcome to abandoned factory! Good effort all around, glad to see the super-P out and getting good solid use.
I believe the armour was field modified as it was a limited production prototype and not many were fitted with that gun and a major Harrington of third armoured didn't want to lose the tank he had so he ordered it to be armoured. so what engineers did which shows there ingenuity. they cut a piece from the front hull of a panther that had been destroyed and welded it to the mantlet making sure to have holes for the optics and guns. they then took some standard boilerplate and welded two pieces I think to the front hull. and added the ears in order to protect the front turret cheeks
It'll forever piss me off how some vehicles off which only 1 existed are in the regular tech tree, but other vehicles of which hundreds have been built and saw use are only premium.
This is one of my favourites too, loved it since I first heard of it in a World of Tanks video Jingles made when they added it absolutely years ago. Couldn’t wait to get my hands on it in WT. I spaded it back when it used to get up tiered to 7.7 and only had as much pen as a Panther. It was terrible, but I loved it. I learned to make it work. Now it’s 6.3? With a pen buff to rival the Tiger 2? Ooft. Got my highest kills in one life using it, have yet to beat it.
Fun fact about the Super Pershing, the bolted on hull armor was taken from a boiler. Only the mantlet armor was yoinked from a Panther. Also, more of a nerdy nitpick, the actual numerical designation of the Super Pershing was the T26E4-1, not E1-1.
what a great way to stard the day with a massive mug of coffee and a video in the super pershing, thanks for the video mate! cant wait for you decal to be avaible to buy!
The spring is to hold the gun and a counterweight in the back, it’s the more advanced model because the spring is incased early ones only had big springs
Your gameplays kind of feel like you're telling a story. Very down to earth and full of detail, with the occasional comic relief. It's almost like I'm actually playing lol
The super was a field modification of a regular pershing they took panther armor and strapped it to the front with the 90mm and a slightly different turret because they needed a counter weight in the back behind the radio and everything because of the gun
Death Traps by Belton Cooper. Been quite a while since ive read this book but if i remember right he worked on it. he talks a bit about it and its one probable kill that it had in combat (something to the effect of "it blew the hell out of whatever it was, pieces went everywhere, but none of us were brave enough to go out and see what it was" haha.) As other have said take your time getting well. That said thought i'd throw out some idea's for video's i'd like to see. 1. I'd love to see you do some video's on specific maps and what positions are good and which should be avoided. Half the time when i spawn in i've no idea where to go in my tanks. 2. Would love to see some videos on how to do CAS as brits. Whilst they got some new rockets last patch, (no idea how good they are though), i generally feel like i really struggle. Doesn't help i struggle to aim bombs well, but honestly it's hard to even know what loadouts are even any good, especially given the 20mm generally can't hurt anything but the lightest targets.
Tanks like the Super Pershing are why I love playing the US. The teams are good, the armor is great and the gun is FANTASTIC! Really pleases my inner Freeaboo!
A nice tank. Have played it a lot. As an average player without premium, I find its 9.5k silver lions repair cost a bit more than I'd like (not as bad as the T34 though), but heyho. Obviously it can struggle with some uptiers, but overall I like how reassuring both its gun and armour are. Also it's funny how much I've missed APHE ammo once I went above about 6.7br in my USA lineup. (I do like my 8.0br lineup even though it's a bit weak, though). And yeah the T25 went up from 5.7 to 6.0br fairly recently and still has one advantage over the Pershing - a full stabiliser at cruise control 1 and when braking - very nice (but I think at 6.0br it no longer feels strong).
The Super Pershing was actually a field modification, as far as the applique armor goes. The T26 prototype was just a Pershing with the longer gun. Also love ur vids! Keep it up!
Ok so some history that I have learned about this tank A few thousand were produced, however -100 made it to Europe in time, and only 2 saw Combat, with the first being temporarily knocked out and the second killing a king Tiger The rest of them were used extensively in Korea, until it was retired some time around the end of the Korean War In regards to the creation of the T26E1-1 from the T26E1 I’m pretty sure it’s a mix of coming with the upgrade parts (add-on armor and such) but they have to be installed post-transit
Hey odd when the Pershing made landing in Germany engineers cut off an upper plate from a panther tank and welded it to the front there’s a really informative video about the Pershing vs the king tiger
The USA didn't make a lot of these. I believe they first upgraded the gun in america (it was just a lenghtened version of the 90mm M3 that the americans used on the regular pershing). Then they shipped only one to help in the invasion of Germany, where it was upgraded by allied engineers. They fitted it with plates from German tanks, such as the panther. It was the heaviest, best armored and most powerful tank in the allied arsenal in WW2. It encountered only a couple of Pz.IV's, a panther, maybe even a Jagdpantger and a tiger I in the last couple weeks of the war. Feel free to correct me if anything is wrong.
P59A is such a beast of a anti Cas fighter that I'd sing praises for it till sunset. It's almost bullying, because dedicated German Cas isn't entirely good at fighting fighters so it's just a matter of catching them in their Cas runs and because this thing turns on a dime there's nothing you can't evade(Benny is fat obviously). I use this in my 6.7 lineup and I can't tell you how many 262s I've bullied in it. Worth every penny, though I got it for free. One of best task event reward planes thus far. Odd, try the T30 as well. It's a nice challenging but rewarding gameplay. It's shell with 199mm pen can deal with almost everything and HE can meme others as well. In a down teir it's crazy good
I looked up briefly and the add on armour was field mod cut from a panthers front plate but the tank came with springs originally and the commanders felt the mantlet was too weak so put the armour on
This tank is maniac even being uptiered, mostly you would face panther A, Tiger 2, Tiger and Jadgpanther which are penetratable. I kept bringing this tank in every match and most of time get around 5-7 kills per match making me alot of money in the process.
couple of things: you can pen panther hulls' top armor with 50s, especially with ground belts, although trying on a coelian is.... ballsy. Also if you haven't already I'd suggest you give a try to the t44 122, it feels to me like a sidegrade to the super pershing as you get another nuke round, less armor, but more mobility as well as being smaller and a -5 gun depression on the gun, which is pretty much the best you'll ever get for Russian tanks anyway, that thing really is a monster
The two things you said were for recoil are actually for lifting the gun barrel. The internal mechanism was to weak. That is actually the best way to defeat the thing in reality.
I'm glad the SP is being praised I love this tank to death, so far its the tank that has the most ground units destroyed in my WT career, somewhere over 1,000 It's so sad that the SP was scrapped after the war, I would give it one big hug
The T26 originally did not had any add on armor just the gun but in the field it was put more armor because it was “Rare” Only 2 T26 kills have been confirmed and they might be both Panzer lV
I think there was only 1 but it was modified for the long 90 and they didn’t want to loose it so they added armour unfortunately it didn’t see service as it was too late to get into combat
overall i think most nations have the best lineups at 6.3 ... germany and its 88mm, americans with super-pershing and T25 & M26 which for me work like slower T-34 with even more bouncy armor, japan with ST-A1(A2) and thier HEAT-FS, Italy with thier cars with HEAT-FS and M26 and another sherman modification etc etc
the history of the Super Pershing is a bit complex » it started with the idea of giving the Pershing a stronger gun, for that they took one of he earlier T26E1 prototypes and changed the gun » soon they noticed it was not possible to keep the gun balanced without further modifications and that is why those 2 tubes (coil springs) were added to help balance the barrel » a few other modifications were done like adding extra weight on the back of the turret, this final configuration received the designation T26E1-1 » learning from that experiment a new series of prototypes were produced and designated T26E4 (about 24 of them) with additional modifications made so that they could balance the gun properly without needing the external aids » all is good and well but you now need to know if it will be effective in a actual war, that is when they decided to send the T26E1-1 to be field tested in Europe, and that is when it gets "strange" » the T26E1-1 was then field modified by adding 2 boiler plates to the front of the hull and sections of Panther armor around the mantlet and turret (resulting on overloading the suspension and tilting the whole vehicle forward, thus reducing the angle of the armor plates) and someone painted on the side «Super Pershing» and that is why the vehicle became known as such due to its photo being generally well known, as for the US Army it was simply the prototype of the T26E4 the strange part is because after arriving in Europe the Pershings struggled to get good results when engaging German tanks, and contrary to popular belief the US Army fought more King Tigers and Panthers than Tiger I's, early defeats were probably result of lack of training maybe it was from that experience that they decided to add the extra armour but then it makes no sense no other Pershing saw such modification the most likely scenario was them learning how strong and effective the new gun was in combination with knowing the Pershing was not invulnerable, then they decided they needed to try anything possible to increase its survivability
I think it was a field modification, some guys wanted to up armor their pershing and just took the front plate of a panther and some extra steel. Not sure how it got the better gun tho.
I always play this br and i swear ive been sniped by a guy called ivanhoe in a jagdpanther multiple times the past few months aha, always crazy shots across the map aswell thats why i remember him
This is a disgusting bad boi. Everytime I meet one with me Tiyga, I know that death is imminent. The only other tank where I just cant do anything is the T-44
How do you know if it's a panther or tiger 2? I usually don't take chances and just shoot for the turret since the standard round doesn't pen tiger 2 frontal plate but it'd be a heck of a lot easier to know.
Can you help me? What do I do if I start to feel targeted while playing war thunder. It’s like no matter what I do the enemies try to single me out instead of my teammates.
I also have a recommendation for a video, like im sure you have a lot of clips and videos and like bloopers, you should really make a bloopers video or like behind the scenes

This thing is scary to deal with in Panthers. Although Tiger 2’s 88 can usually go through the places without the spaces armour.
I'd like to see a video on the German SPz BMP-1 with the Ho 229.
One of my fav combos for just having fun.
Will you stream today
The best thing about this tank is that it's rarely uptiered. Also bouncing shots and murdering people with its giant gun is pretty great too!
Since you just made a video with the super P how bout ya make a video with the tiger II P?
I'm glad the SP is being praised
I love this tank to death, so far its the tank that has the most ground units destroyed in my WT career, somewhere over 1,000
It's so sad that the SP was scrapped after the war, I would give it one big hug
The T26 originally did not had any add on armor just the gun but in the field it was put more armor because it was “Rare”
Only 2 T26 kills have been confirmed and they might be both Panzer lV
The add on armour is actually from destroyed panther tanks and they welded it on
It's all add-armour that the US tankers placed on to stop long 88 rounds. They took armour a down Panther and wielded it to the front of the tank.
I think there was only 1 but it was modified for the long 90 and they didn’t want to loose it so they added armour unfortunately it didn’t see service as it was too late to get into combat
Quality production as always. Hope you get better soon!
Thank you!
I love playing the Super Pershing. It's a fantastic tank. If only the reload was a couple of seconds quicker.
overall i think most nations have the best lineups at 6.3 ... germany and its 88mm, americans with super-pershing and T25 & M26 which for me work like slower T-34 with even more bouncy armor, japan with ST-A1(A2) and thier HEAT-FS, Italy with thier cars with HEAT-FS and M26 and another sherman modification etc etc
It was a single vehicle modification.
a thing of beauty and a joy to behold :D
The armor is a field mod to increase survival of the t26e4
The super pershing is as real as the t95. Techinically real, but was of no siginificance in any war. It just looks cool
that jet has such a nice turn rate
One of my favorites tank. I grined all rank V with this tank
I’m looking forward to unlocking this.. just around the corner
You got a hole in your right wing!
Looks at right wing:
Right wing: I don’t feel so gud
the history of the Super Pershing is a bit complex
» it started with the idea of giving the Pershing a stronger gun, for that they took one of he earlier T26E1 prototypes and changed the gun
» soon they noticed it was not possible to keep the gun balanced without further modifications and that is why those 2 tubes (coil springs) were added to help balance the barrel
» a few other modifications were done like adding extra weight on the back of the turret, this final configuration received the designation T26E1-1
» learning from that experiment a new series of prototypes were produced and designated T26E4 (about 24 of them) with additional modifications made so that they could balance the gun properly without needing the external aids
» all is good and well but you now need to know if it will be effective in a actual war, that is when they decided to send the T26E1-1 to be field tested in Europe, and that is when it gets "strange"
» the T26E1-1 was then field modified by adding 2 boiler plates to the front of the hull and sections of Panther armor around the mantlet and turret (resulting on overloading the suspension and tilting the whole vehicle forward, thus reducing the angle of the armor plates) and someone painted on the side «Super Pershing» and that is why the vehicle became known as such due to its photo being generally well known, as for the US Army it was simply the prototype of the T26E4
the strange part is because after arriving in Europe the Pershings struggled to get good results when engaging German tanks, and contrary to popular belief the US Army fought more King Tigers and Panthers than Tiger I's, early defeats were probably result of lack of training
maybe it was from that experience that they decided to add the extra armour but then it makes no sense no other Pershing saw such modification
the most likely scenario was them learning how strong and effective the new gun was in combination with knowing the Pershing was not invulnerable, then they decided they needed to try anything possible to increase its survivability
I think it was a field modification, some guys wanted to up armor their pershing and just took the front plate of a panther and some extra steel. Not sure how it got the better gun tho.
Historically this is my favourite ww2 tank
Im pretty sure the super pershing was a field modification. The extra plates on the front came from a panther
Guess what, its 6.7 now with 11k repair
Don't worry about daily videos, take your time and don't get burnt out
Whats subsonic but at 9.7? The G.91ys. Could u play it to show what it can do and it’s limitations for it?
loving your content man keep it up!
I’m here from philly. Also Benny is phat
And hey, if you're feeling up to it maybe check out the AB-43 😉
Attempt #2
Extra challenge right now since .50's got a crazy buff!
@@OddBawZ oh yeah that's so true, I didn't think about that. But I feel like the flanking capabilities and good round sorta make up for it
@@OddBawZ they did? what is it?
also is it true german 20mm got nerfed?
@@PrintScreen. nah German players are just whining. As always
It indeed was a Field modification. Only one T26 E1 existed.
I found you just a bit before the phly shoutout, love your content
i do believe the super Pershing was a prototype and was only a prototype in WW2 but went into production after
I have world of tanks and war thunder, but I only have this in wot because well WT says goodbye when it comes to skill for me.
I always play this br and i swear ive been sniped by a guy called ivanhoe in a jagdpanther multiple times the past few months aha, always crazy shots across the map aswell thats why i remember him
What is the black spot we can see moving around when you're flying aircraft?
Dayum i stared playing wt even before ground forces and only today i finally got enough SL for this
As an m18 user this tank looks like god to me
This is a disgusting bad boi. Everytime I meet one with me Tiyga, I know that death is imminent. The only other tank where I just cant do anything is the T-44
Oddbawz: you can brawl but be careful
Me: Roger
Also me: Brawls 2 panthers and 1 nashorn in sweden
Sounds so good, do you have a sound mod or something? I know they are removing them?
How do you know if it's a panther or tiger 2? I usually don't take chances and just shoot for the turret since the standard round doesn't pen tiger 2 frontal plate but it'd be a heck of a lot easier to know.
this gets to stay at 6.7 but the centurion mk3 gets yeeted up to 7.3 to face leopard Is from the 60s
