The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is the premier late night talk show on CBS, airing at 11:35pm EST, streaming online via CBS All Access, and delivered to the International Space Station on a USB drive taped to a weather balloon. Is it just me or is her ending to this just the most beautiful bit of vocal inflections you have ever heard?
What makes it even better I think, is her singing with her eyes closed like she’s really feeling the music and is lost in it. Then right after that amazing vocal like she wakes up to where she’s at and what she’s doing.
Brandi used to do a lot of busking and I read that one time she got lost in her singing and had her eyes closed for awhile. When she opened them several people were putting money in her guitar case and she told herself that she had to remember to do that more often.
Perfect description - you can tell she’s not here in this world for a few moments and then comes back - magical!
Her voice is a tattoo. It pierces the skin and marks you forever.

Carlile is an absolute gem.
For a decade, since her amazing break through single The Story, just don't know why more people haven't connected with this amazing artist. Her career has progressed nicely over the years, we need her sensitivity and perspective now more than ever

To me, Carlile's sound is unclassifiable as a genre. She blazes her own trail, with enormous talent (not to mention a great band). This latest album is her best, and I own them all. Respect!

I just recently found out about her and my god i am just in love with her and her music. cant believe that i didnt know her sooner. her music is just so touching and beautiful. in the midst of electronic songs, her music is just refreshing because it brings back the memory of how old music used to sound.

Her voice is not of this planet I think.. she's so damn amazing. I have never been into Country much at all or Americana, Bluegrass or anything along those lines. I've been a hard/punk rocker for the large majority of my life .. Well not so much anymore she has changed me. And thru Brandi Carlile I've been able to open up my mind and ears to other music along these lines. Well actually not along these lines because there's no other music out there like Brandi Carlile's but others of the same genre anyways, I've been digging

There's a close friend I had to move on from. I love her dearly but life took us in two different directions, and she never deserved my burden I would invite upon her life. I sent her this song that spoke the words from my heart, and have tears every time I hear it.

Get song. The prolong hollowing at the end almost ruined what was otherwise a tender heart felt confession of confusion in the face of love's impenetrable mystery. I'll have to listen to some of her other music. Love her honest frankness.

She's one of the best country singers out there. It's a shame the genre is dominated by Christian Conservatives that won't recognize a lesbian singer
If you think country music is crap like Toby Keith or Florida Georgia Line then yeah, she's not country. But she's in the more traditional style of country music and how it should be and sound
She calls herself alt-country, and takes MUCH of her inspiration from country music. You can't be offended for her when she owns the title. She's MUCH better than current country, but she comes straight from those old timers.
