Kacey is literally that one country artist that you listen to even if you dont like country music.
You should give Jason Isbell and Chris Stapleton a try, too.
Yep. Not a country guy here. And I'm also gay. But I love this album. And I have to say Kacey is so beautiful I am having some kinda feeling about her lol. Fuck .
I think Shania Twain is the godmother of that, and Carrie Underwood kinda falls in that category too. But Kacey is really versatile and creative, I'll give her that.
100%
Kacey Musgraves and Sturgill Simpson are the ruling queen and king of “alt country” aka authentic country.
Lowkey one of the best songs of the past decade IMO. Lyrically impeccable and the production is sublime.
*album (legit) / song too. I'd listen to an albums-worth of white noise from this album. Impeccable space.
@@jonathanknox Yes! I almost forgot that I listened to this album a few times! Kacey Musgraves really did that! I hope she wins a few awards this Sunday.
@@CassieJazz96 absolutely agree
this is one of the most beautiful and melodic songs I've ever heard
Truly
Whomever mixed her vocals did a fantastic job. Captured her voice perfectly and the added reverb and delay just flawless.
This!
@Chris Dougherty what does that mean? 3.2 seconds?
@Chris Dougherty I could believe 3.2 seconds.
listen to the SNL recording, it's even better.
i could not agree more.
I am addicted to this song. It's ethereal, other worldly, like cotton candy sunsets on Oahu. I'm claiming it as my free spirit, I did it my way, at an easy pace, theme.
It´s called psychedelic folk
i would drag a half hour kiss thru any part she wants
You might also like Beck’s Sea Change album. More somber, but similar vibe. Really great album 👍
I love good music regardless of genre! I understand that is a very subjective statement but this is good stuff.
Talent I tell you.
ARTV oh hey i found you
ARTV, she's for it in spades.
ARTV oh yeah
That vocal roll and delay setting on "Slow Burn" sounds so Ray LaMontagne-esque and I'm OBSESSED. Kacey is brilliant.
good call. has that young man vibe to it. I'm a sucker for songs like this.
I feel like I’m floating through space whenever I listen to her music
This is one of the best song arrangements I've ever heard and I've been around a long time.
Awh this is just my favorite song off her album. It just evokes such a warm and yet melancholy feeling.
Melissa Ngai oh what a world does the same w them feels😂😍👌🏼
This and 🦋’s for me.
Whenever her music is being played, I have to stop what I am doing and just listen. She makes me forget about the world...
As long as people listen to music this song will play over and over. The beginning of an era.
I was just thinking how could i hve just discovered it how did it only come out a few years ago it feels like it has to always have been around
Such a shame CMA/AMA didn’t embrace her. She’s taking country music to a different level. Changes coming whether we like it or not.
That's all right she won the Grammy for album of the year I think she showed them🤔✌️ a marvelous effort from an amazing amazing artist keep it going Casey can't wait for the next record👍
Anyone decent likes it. 😊
Her voice literally brings tears to my eyes.
Me too. Haven’t been moved like that by a singer’s voice in long time.
When she sings, "Old soul waiting my turn. I know a few things but I've still got a lot to learn" - I lose it every time. Thank you Kacey. Your words - "waiting my turn" - made a whole bunch of us who have tried to live an unselfish life and are wondering what the hell is going on, why do we continue to get shit on . . . feel optimistic again about the meaning of life thing.
It's funny to read going through the comments how many people don't usually listen to country, but Kacey somehow brings something different to the table. I've been listening to Golden Hour non-stop since it came out! Her voice, the melodies, the lyrics content, and the sounds she increased to make the album sounds more eclectic... man, it's GOLDEN!! Really wishing her a few Grammys for that masterpiece!
Thanks to Yellowstone I found this amazing artist!!!! Voice of gold …..smooths the bumps on my road!!!
The same... Angelic voice.... 💖
Which of her songs featured on Yellowstone pls? 🙏🏼
Plus I am only at season 3 in the Yellowstone. Netflix hasn’t released the other seasons as yet. Does anyone know where I can view for free?
@@CoastPropertyBuyers
I only know this one ….😊
Her talent as an artist is clear
This song could be perfectly on harvest by Neil Young. Masterpiece. Probably best country song this year
But Old Man is already on there. Why do it twice?
I believe I will be returning to this video. This woman obviously knows how to lay down a mood. The whole band was dialed in. Even the Director of the show with the camera work was spot on.... and can we talk about the outfit.... that was just the icing on the cake.
She’s so effortlessly wonderful
Mewesical, awesome description! Couldn't agree more. Love how authentic and real she is, enlightened and constantly evolving. Pretty inspirational overall.
This woman was meant to be someone 😍
Her new album sounds so soothing!
Looove her and the new album. You can just feel the honesty and realness in her music. 🌼💕
Anna Jane Jackson Music, nicely put. I think its her great gift that no matter the changes in her sound from record to record, that honesty and realness shines through.
Nail on the head
This song took my mind on a journey, love it.
This song almost made me tear up. The lyrics are relatable, the groove is meditative, and her voice hits you right in the gut. The song just strides forward until the very end with so much self-assurance and grace, just like the message of the song.
Golden Hour is one of those rare albums that doesn’t get old to me. I think when you see Musgraves do live performances like this one or others on RUclips you can see she’s a talent that transcends studio production. Like Colbert says, “…that was beautiful.”
The most underrated artist in country music.
now she had the recognition she deserved
country radio ignores her even after 6 Grammys
Working in a supermarket this summer and I hear this song almost every day. It always puts a smile on my face :)
Her new album is perfection from start to finish! I especially love Velvet Elvis. Hope it wins her another Grammy. Her music and voice has always been so pleasant.
Amy Lee, Velvet Elvis is such a fun song XD
Literally saving country music. Incredible.
Oh she will win a grammy with this album 100% :)
she just did win Album Of The Year
It won her 4! What a queen ugh
The singer is conveying a few key ideas with these lyrics:
Embracing a relaxed pace: The repeated phrase "I'm alright with a slow burn" emphasizes that the singer prefers a laid-back approach to life. They value patience and don't feel pressure to conform to societal expectations of rushing.
Finding pleasure in simple things: References to enjoying a "California sunset," rolling "another one up," and appreciating the scents of incense and sandalwood all suggest the singer finds joy in these simple, unhurried moments.
Inner peace and contentment: The line "Old soul sitting in my bones, golden hour, happy at home" paints a picture of a sense of peace and self-acceptance.
Enjoying (likely) marijuana: The line "Good in a glass, good on green" hints at enjoying marijuana. The mention of rolling "another one up" further supports this interpretation.
Overall, the singer is likely expressing these things:
Importance of living at your own pace: Rejecting the rush and stress that often comes with modern life, finding satisfaction in slowing down.
Appreciation for simple pleasures: Deriving joy and relaxation from small moments and sensory experiences.
A sense of autonomy: The line "I'm gonna do it my way" is a declaration of choosing their own path and way of living.
For what it (my opinion)'s worth... I got up in the middle of the night last week because I couldn't sleep. So I turned on the TV, and SAW THIS! I was mesmerized! I'd never heard of her before! - And even though I was groggy, and thought that the words were "Snow Bird", The song and melody stuck in my head, and I slept like a cat! (Babys never sleep, so dunno' where That expression came from).... so anyway.. I'm looking forward to checking-out MORE from Kacey! -Signed, New Instant Fan!
Seahawkwes, that makes me happy. She's awesome and deserves every success. I love that this performance has recruited so many new fans.
Of course I've been checking-out everything that she's done and Doing... And I LOVE IT ALL ! I need to play some Serious "Catch-up" . Doesn't seem that she plays in New England, but if she ever did, I'd be there!
As soon as I get thru "House Tax Month" I plan to buy dome Albums!
I meant Some Albums. :-) I type like carp.
Sounds just as good live as the album if not better. Love you gal! Thanks for writing the soundtrack to my late 20’s 🌈
Brynn Irish she's remarkably consistent that way tbh every song sounds perfect live
Yeah was a great live performance. The album version is practically perfect, though.
Beautiful talented lady and band is exquisite.
She makes me feel so cozy in my skin. Her voice is so melodic and peaceful
Kacey and her uber-talented band are everything. i love the new album
Just a great song. She sings this so beautifully and the band is top notch.
this is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever listened to, she’s amazing
Really and truly
One of the best songs I've ever heard. The arrangement is perfect, vocals and lyrics are stunning. This song gives me chills every time I listen to it.
Plus I can't believe this live version actually captures the magic of the flawlessly mixed studio version.
old soul, waitin' my turn. i know a few things, but i've still got a lot to learn. so im alright with a slow burn.
I just discovered this song. I love it. It's haunting. Kacey is really good!
This whole album is gonna be on repeat this summer
*thx for the likes
Brayden Evans such a summer time record ain't it?
Yes!
Brayden Evans I
Yep
How can anyone not like this song. It's beautiful. 😆
This song takes country-folk Americana to a new level.
It's got a Neil Young "old man" vibe to it and that ain't a bad thing
@@fumingrileythat’s exactly what I thought when I heard this. Old Man is my fav song of all time. This song has the same feel
Thank god country still has a few people like this who are actual artists. Unfortunately just a very few anymore.
For anyone who wants to play this on guitar, here's how :)
For about 99% of the song, it will be these chords in this order!
A, Cadd9, G, D(variation; 554030)
Strum Pattern - ↑↓↑↓↑↓↑
SUPER SHORT Bridge after Second Chorus -
Cadd9 and Em
Hope this helps out! If you get stuck or need a little extra help, I just uploaded a video lesson for this on my channel :)
The Groovy Guitar Dude - Daily Guitar Lessons wow
That´s why it´s boring as hell ...
Almost right! I think your videos are great for players out there who are beginners, but just wanted to provide a little clarification :) For most of the song (for the intro and for parts where Kasey sings) the progression is actually:
Asus2, Em, G, D(variation; 554030)
where Asus2 is the same chord shape as A with the 2nd string open instead of on the 2nd fret.
In parts where she doesn't sing, it's where the Cadd9 comes in, instead of the Em chord :)
Have a great day dude!
COOL!!!
Now teach me how to play guitar...
anonymusum yeah it's on repeat, but the progression itself is unique and unexpected. Doesn't go where your ear expects it to on the first listen. Give it some credit.
Born in a hurry, always late
Haven't been early since '88
Texas is hot, I can be cold
Grandma cried when I pierced my nose
Good in a glass, good on green
Good when you're putting your hands all over me
I'm alright with a slow burn
Taking my time, let the world turn
I'm gonna do it my way, it'll be alright
If we burn it down and it takes all night
It's a slow burn, yeah
In Tennessee, the sun's goin' down
But in Beijing, they're heading out to work
You know the bar down the street don't close for an hour
We should take a walk and look at all the flowers
'Cause I'm alright with a slow burn
Taking my time, let the world turn
I'm gonna do it my way, it'll be alright
If we burn it down and it takes all night
It's a slow burn
Whatever feels good
Old soul, waiting my turn
I know a few things, but I still got a lot to learn
So I'm alright with a slow burn, slow burn, slow burn
I'm alright with a slow burn
This reminds me of Sheryl Crow 1994-96 circa. That being a compliment.
I completely agree.......listen to one of her tracks called I KNOW WHY.......you can tell where Casey was inspired from.
YES!
Specifically this song is VERY close to Sheryl's song "Home". Normally I might smell a plagiarism lawsuit looming except that Kacey recorded this album in Sheryl Crow's house so that probably explains a lot
So good. She’s a wonderful songwriter and a dark beauty on top of all that..
I almost didn't listen to Kacey Musgraves' song, since I don't do country and I was pretty sure this wouldn't change my mind. Plus, I didn't know who she was. But the song had a James Taylor-eque sound for the first few chords ... so ... I kept listening ... all the way to the end! I loved the lyrics, the vocals, the instrumentation, the subtle banjo, the strings, the change in the song when the verse about Beijing starts ... really, the whole thing is wonderful. I bought it on iTunes! Best of luck, Kacey Musgraves!
Welcome to the Kacey Musgraves band of merry followers Tony. Out on her own on a whole new level!!
I feel ya, Tony Ludlow. Was never a country fan myself either...
Morton Baldwin said it beautifully ( I love the idea of us all being a "band of merry followers" ), Kacey truly is on a level all her own
F E always nice to hear from you. And can you believe there are 10 people on this planet who dislike this performance!!
Morton Baldwin, oh hey man! Actually forgot I'd replied to you before; I should've recognised the nice turn of phrase even if I missed the name! XD But nope, can't believe it; makes me a little sad for those 10 people tbh. They're really missing out!!
F E my friend, we just need to keep flying the flag and telling those 'converts to be' they simply need to follow their arrow. Keep up the good work. Mo
I don’t usually listen to country music but I’ve always been a casual fan of Kacey. Her voice is really pretty and she’s a great lyricist. Just finished listening to this album and this is definitely one of my faves. Great song
Check out Kacey's Country here: ruclips.net/video/p2uCiY9fcxI/видео.html
I used to listen to her a lot in 2020 and 2019 and she was like my fav singer i havent listened to her in a good while but this is nice to listen to again
When her studio version and live gig all sound the same!
Your heart sinks to the floor ....
There are few songs that can be described as perfect. This is such a song. PERFECT!!!!!!
That's what I was thinking. Musically this song is perfection. Never seems to get old!
this song does something to me I can't explain it. Love this new album! :)
Mr.
it takes me somewhere ive been before and want to go back
Kacey is brilliant. The new album is adventurous in a way that pays off sonically.
Kacey’s songs are the only ones I will pay attention to the lyrics. So refreshing, young, and the music there are no words to describe it sooo good....
Country music perfectly mixed with classy pop music. PERFECTION!
Heard this song for the first time today on XM spectrum and now I cant stop playing it, everything about it is good
Tennessee and Beijing part is so beautiful and genius
I've seen a lot of comments about it's great for a country song, but the only thing country about this is her accent. This is just a great folk song written and performed by a country music star. But a damn fine performer and performance, no less.
Brandon Roberts, that's fair. What I've always loved about Kacey is the folk side of her sound anyway so i've no complaints.
That was basically my only struggle with marketing this as a country album. She definitely plays around with country influences, but the album is more folk/pop than country.
No, the guitar arrangement and the banjo is definitely country. If you listen to Taylor Swift's acoustic versions of her songs from 1989 and Lover, the guitar in them don't sound as country and the tabs and accents Kasey uses when playing acoustic guitar.
This song is country pop. It's not folk because folk songs have different arrangements. They she sings is even more country like an. The soft and beautiful melody makes it more pop.
Saw Kacey in Kansas City last night and this song is just magic. It still gives me chills. I love this particular performance on Colbert. The banjo is so cool.
One night I couldn't sleep and was jumping about on RUclips to try and relax. How I stumbled on Ms Musgraves is forgotten. But I have listened to so many of her songs now and I'm addicted. Like many others, I'm not a country fan but this is so very different. The band support her so discretely. Fabulous.
this song will never grow old..
OMG Wow, Everything about this is gorgeous.
I have listened to this dozens of times. It is mesmerizing and hauntingly beautiful.
😭😭😭😭 it's just so beautiful! Hits me in my feels. Plus she's got as amazing a voice in person as she does on the record
Wonderful song, gorgeous voice. It has such an atmospheric feel to it - lazy Summer days in a VW Camper Van cruising along the California coastline. Reminds me of Angus and Julia Stone.
This song is sooo soothing
Thank god country has a few people like this who are actual artists. Unfortunately just a very few.
Ugh! Chills! This song kills me each time I listen to it.
THIS SONG....puts me in a place of calm
Her voice is so beautifully effortless
Simply extraordinary and calmly moving in the most sublime way. Every time.
That song heals me
The voice of an angel
honestly this is the BEST performance
Just so beautiful lyrics are so stark and warm
Acknowledgement to the production of this song. 12/10.
I can only imagine that this is what it sounds like when Angels sings..❤
This is the real authentic music i´ve been missing and in many many years will go in the books. Even more magical on stage. I cant wait to hear her presence. The music lives on and on with her musicality, what a great performance. Im grabbing this in store, long time!
Her performance was beautiful and I like her jumpsuit 👏💞
I love this song she is an amazing singer ❤
such a voice and presence, wish her great success
Sounds just like the original record. By far my favorite song at the moment.
Slow Burn is an absolute masterclass in songwriting, production, and taste.
Majestic
Amazing!!!! Absolutely ❤️
She has a beautiful tone to her voice
Her voice live is stunning.
Just know her by the song high horse. and she absolutely has a clear beautiful country voice! gonna dig more about her song
ocaaa ananda where'd you hear High Horse?
Rare talent right here. Watch out for this woman in the years to come, she is special, mark my words.
Beautiful girl, Beautiful song.
Beautiful music!❤
Count me in, don't do country much, saw her at Stagecoach 18, Blew me away musically, lyrically, visually. Always great feeling to find a string in a weave that touches the heart. Gracia"s mi Amiga!
First time i heard this was coming back from Minehead from a mad weekend, Blasting radio One, sun was going down over the severn as i drove up the M5, 25 degrees outside wind rushing through the motor, happy days
absolutely mesmerizing
What a performance!!
This is hands down the best song to come out of the country genre in years! The lyrics, the meaning, the melody, the music, the classic James Taylor/Jim Croche/Neil Young vibe it has is amazing. What a brilliant song from a beautiful woman that has a beautiful and soothing voice.
Someone mentioned the similarities to Niel Young Old man.
I agree and what a great compliment.
My favorite song of the past 5 years.
Thanks!
She's musically genius. Love her songs. ❤
