Lindsay was such a great Champion and should have won lots more Majors but she definitely is one of the all time greats.Loved her game.Played in a very strong era of womens tennis.
Agreed. She competed in the toughest draws ever seen in women's tennis. Here's the draw the year she won Wimbledon: 1999 Wimbledon Seeds 1. Martina Hingis 2. Steffi Graf 3. Lindsay Davenport 4. Monica Seles 5. Jana Novotna 6. Venus Williams 7. Arantxa Sánchez Vicario 8. Nathalie Tauziat 9. Mary Pierce 10. Serena Williams Unseeded: Capriati, Cljisters, Martinez You'll never see another draw like that no matter how long you live.
Lindsay was on borrowed time at this event. She had a foot injury all summer and she knew she was going to have to undergo surgery after the USO. As soon as she had to play someone who would make her stretch and play longer points, she was done. This was back when Clijsters was playing so many events, winning so many matches and yet not being able to win a slam. Later on in her career, it was the opposite.
Strangely passive match from Lindsay. She did not hit a lot of hard deep shots down the middle to take angles away from Kim. That was usually her strategy to cut down on her running.
LD played the Williams sister tougher than Belgian sisters: Kim and Justine. I never fully understood why. Also, I never understood why she didn’t counter her speedier opponents with her exceptional net play and skilled hands. I guess she didn’t continuously maximize her strengths to the fullest potential.
@@TheseHoesAreLoyal what I’m saying is she could have grand slam titles probably in the upper teens/lower 20s if she had the movement, maybe Federer wasn’t a good example, I’m saying if Lindsay had at least average movement she could have competed better with the Williams and Belgians and won a lot more grand slam titles, sometimes she wouldn’t even more for balls that were just a few feet away lol
For someone her size, she was only a little slow. She is 6'3". I am about her height and it takes longer to change directions when you are tall and have a higher center of gravity.
@@NotSettlingForSecondBestI guess, but Venus was around 6'2", so was Sharapova. I think Lindsay's weight and numerous lower-body injuries were a bigger factor in her lack of speed and quickness than her height.

Kim one of my favourite players!
Thanks for putting up highlights of this one. Great match from Kim but a flat performance by Lindsay...

She was injured. Toe injury. Reason why she ended her season quickly after the us open to get surgery.

I sitll stand on my belief Lindsay could be the female federer if she had movement like any other female players, she was by far the slowest out there
Comment makes no sense whatsoever

I would be Jokic if I was a foot and a half taller.
