I mean wasn't the point behind Raphael VS Pharaoh 2 about how Raphael him self was also wrong? How his believe that people can't change or that there ability to be evil in general doesn't justify murdering everyone? Like come on you had to side with the villain to treat this as a contradiction. Especially as Dartz did all of these bad things under the influence of the Oricalcos stone anyway. It was proper routed in a darkness in his heart but it was the stone that amplified it to were ti consumed his entire person.

LOL, that's a great way of describing it! I think this Dartz's voice is loosely based on a character named Coiffio (who also has multicolor hair) from an old Adult Swim show called _Perfect Hair Forever_. But Takahata101 definitely puts a unique spin on it.
When Yugi and Kaiba eventually duel Dartz, I have a feeling he'll whip out this line: "Yoo two douchebayags stahp arguin over who's gonna doo me. How bout you both doo me at once. Dats waaat, both of yoo puw awt yo deeks and doo me as hahd as yoo can!"
I mean there end goal is to completely replace humanity with a version of it self that is incapable of being evil at all. So he looks at this from the long game. (especially in the Japanese version were Dartz told him additionally that his society tried to fix humanity from the shadows for hundreds of years and it now finally becoming clear that there is no fixing it only a complete reset can solve the issue they are having)
I am actually WAYYYY more surprised that Yami cares about Yugi than Yami losing a duel. Also, I have always wondered, in Yugioh they discard cards like ALL THE TIME yet in that duel Yami was "evil" for doing that? Glad LK pointed that out.
Not only this duel. In Yugi's duels with Rebecca in S1, and Arcana in S2 he keeps preaching to them how sending their own monsters to the graveyard to win a duel is disrespectful to the cards.
It has to do with the manner in which they are sacrificed though. A few tributes for bigger monsters here and there is normal and okay, and Atem/Yugi and the other good characters honor the sacrificed monsters still. But Rebecca, Arkana, and Atem himself in this particular duel, treated the cards like garbage cannon fodder, completely worthless. But the good guys believe every card has value, and any of them can be used to win a duel, not just a single card like shadow ghoul or catapult turtle where everything is is fuel for its fire and nothing more.
Pretty sure calling them worthless and sacrifices while in a duel where the monsters come lo life and are real has an effect. Still, Yugi would have lost if he had sacrificed them respectfully since Raphael's card didn't care much about bonds as much as them being on the graveyard
holy shit... all of these years and i just now see that there was ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to play that card. there was nothing at stake UNTIL atem played the card. WTF.
The seal was working on him by just being in his hand. Also Raphael's constant taunting. I thinnk the whole duel was planned to make Atem use that card.
"And as you just finished telling me, a wave is all it takes to BREAK you." I get CHILLS whenever I hear that line! Child me would've been SCARRED by that line!
"Don't worry guys, Yugi always figures out a way to turn things around at the last second." Same shit I thought when I first saw this episode. Damn it was a good twist.
The Pharaoh was being so evil by sacrificing his monsters, even though sacrificing monsters is part of the rules of the game and it is impossible to win without it.
The problem was that he did it without showing respect for his monsters or their sacrifice. The Heart of the Cards is like Yu-Gi-Oh's equivalent of the Force, it can really screw you if you go against its will.
It was stated that playing the seal of orichalchos made the monsters real, so it's understandable that sacrificing them left and right for little more than sadism wouldn't be seen as a good thing.
Wait so, Mako Tsunami has his father killed by the ocean and immediately falls in love with it, meanwhile Raphael is saved by humans and immediately decides that humanity is evil...did someone mix up two pages in the script?

dnmstarsi I watched it for the first time a few months ago, I hadn’t seen much past season 3, and was in awe of the sheer stupidity and boredom of it all. I’m debating whether or not it’s worse than the Kaibaland arc.
kirbyboy92 It's better than the Grand Championship Arc. It can be dumb and boring at times but it's still entertaining and worth watching. It's like that one officer said in the 78th episode of YGOTAS, the story is entertaining but if you analyzed the story, it falls apart (and becomes a bunch of bull shit). However, if you don't care about the story and just want to see some cool duels and moments that don't revolve around a tournament, this may be for you. Also there's a bunch of other people able to defend and explain why S4 isn't total garbage. :)

I was laughing but genuinely sad too! This season's a wreck in a lot of ways, but the pathos they built up with Atem as a character is legit interesting to me, and when Yami The "Constantly Interuptivg Gameflow With A Shitty Quip" Pharaoh couldn't even talk clearly because he's weeping so hard since his soulmate was just EVAPORATED IN FRONT OF HIM, it's, like. It's ridiculous, but also..... I Feel It.
Yugi: Pharoah, no matter what, you mustn't use that card! It takes people's souls! Yami Yugi: Don't worry, Yugi. There's absolutely no reason to even use it. Yugi: That's right. There's no stakes involved in this duel. Even if you lost this card game, nothing would change at all. Yami Yugi: Wait, what's that now? I could lose? Yugi: Well yeah, I mean, your dragon Timaeus is frozen in place and you really don't have that many lifepoints left. But again, there's literally nothing at stake here. And a single loss wouldn't really hurt yo- Yami Yugi: Curse you Rafael! You've given me no choice! Yugi: Wait, what? Yami Yugi: I have to activate the Seal of Oricalchos! Yugi: No! No, you don't! Yami Yugi: Too late, it's activated! I hope you're happy, Rafael! The guy who totally made me do this against my will!

I really like how this character is sort of portrayed in a serious way, as though he's going to make you think about the premise and the Pharoah's past, and then just slowly loses all pretense of depth.
Yeah. I really don't remember the japanese version being anywhere near as ridiculous. Preachy and hypocritical, yes. Ridiculously insane, no. I was actually hoping LK would go down the "abused backstory" route and explain that his reasoning is absolutely fucking insane because Dartz has been systematically manipulating and tormenting him for years to break him down psychologically and then reprogram him with his own agenda. It's funny because it's canon!
11:10 Pharaoh, "Did you just summon a bunch of my monsters in 1 turn?" Raphael, "Yes why?" Pharaoh, "Thats against the rules isn't it?" Raphael, "Screw the rules! I'm the good guy! Now I will watch and the seal rips the soul from your still screaming flesh. I love being the good guy "
1) that's clearly stated as an effet, and that the monsters aren't actually summoned 2) you could at least talk about 10:35 instead "Screw the rules! I'm an evil pharaoh from ancient egypt who likes to take people's souls while playing games!" (I mean, I've not seen the show for a good while but I don't see how summoning four monsters at once is a legit move)
I honestly liked Season 4. It had plenty of stupid moments (Go beyond infinity!) but it's the only arc you actually see Yami STRUGGLE in. For once he's not invincible. He lost to the big bad's HENCHMAN in a clean duel and his arrogance actually bite him in the ass and cost him Yugi's soul. He made mistakes and wasn't presented as a perfect badass like before and after this arc and for once he actually doubted himself. He hit rock bottom and had to pull himself together so he could fix his mistake and make things right. It's the only time Yami was an interesting character.
I really liked season 4. Rafael is actually my favourite side character in the series. Very interesting deck and they actually managed to flesh out a rather compelling backstory for him, which is impressive considering the limited timeframe they had to work with. Much better developed than most of the other largely two dimensional side villains (I've always preferred fleshed out, somewhat morally ambiguous villains to 2 dimensional evil or evil-comic-relief ones). And of course the only character ever to beat Atem (other than Yugi).
I agree completely. That is why this was my second favorite season. But this duel is probably my favorite duel in the series due to what happened and the emotional journey the pharaoh had to go on to rescue yugi. Tea and joey actually got stronger supporting roles because someone has to be there now that yugis not so we got to see some more out of them as well and we also got to see Yami be his own person before and after he dueled yugis spirit. It had major development after this episode in Yamis personal character and gave the supporters a better opportunity to support. Plus it also forces them to directly state to someone else that yugi and the pharaoh are not the same person. (That's one of my favorite scenes, where joey and them explain to tea that yugi is gone and when she realizes what they mean and then has to explain it to rebecca. ) All in all those factors are what really make this season memorable if you ask me. Character development is my favorite thing!! :D
I'M SURE YUGI IS REALLY DEAD AND WILL NOT RETURN, ESPECIALLY NOT AT THE START OF THE 3RD ACT OF THE SEASON ARC. HIS SACRIFICE IS TRULY TRAGIC, I CANT BELIEVE HE'S REALLY GONE AND WE WILL NEVER SEE HIM AGAIN, NOT EVEN IN A MIDDLE-OF-THE-SEASON FLASHBACK AND/OR COMMUNICATION WITH THE SHADOW REALM.
Actual Yu-Gi-Oh? What is this? I don't understand this combination of words! Also, Raphael basically won a children's card game by being so serious about being serious that he completely negated the craziness of crazy.

_"WAFAEL! WAMEMBA MAH WARWLDZ! WE WIW MEET AGAYN IN DA FEWCHUH, WAW POGEENY BUNDAY I WIW WECWUIT YOU. AN TOGEDDA WE WIW WAVAGE DA WOWLD, MAAN!"_
I'd pay good money for an audiobook of Dartz reading the dictionary.
It would be like having Elmer Fudd trying to recite Shakespeare after he'd had 5 gallons of alcohol to go with his oven-roasted rabbit meal.
LOL, that's a great way of describing it! I think this Dartz's voice is loosely based on a character named Coiffio (who also has multicolor hair) from an old Adult Swim show called _Perfect Hair Forever_. But Takahata101 definitely puts a unique spin on it.
Blue Laser I would pay too
When Yugi and Kaiba eventually duel Dartz, I have a feeling he'll whip out this line:
"Yoo two douchebayags stahp arguin over who's gonna doo me. How bout you both doo me at once. Dats waaat, both of yoo puw awt yo deeks and doo me as hahd as yoo can!"
Kaiba: "Uh, is he saying deck, or d*ck?"
Yami: "Um, I have a feeling it's best not to ask..."
I never thought that Yami crying could be so hilarious until now.
It's always nice to see a smug prick get his comeuppance. Even if it's only by proxy.
I just couldn't stop laughing U_U

Sounds like fans of Elfen Lied.
Ironic how the guy who hate sacrificing monsters to a monster is sacrificing humanity to a monster
@@godzillavkk Elfen Lied was that one anime man...If you didn't watch it as a kid then you're not a real anime fan XD
@@Love-Sensibility That better have been sarcasm.
I am actually WAYYYY more surprised that Yami cares about Yugi than Yami losing a duel.
Also, I have always wondered, in Yugioh they discard cards like ALL THE TIME yet in that duel Yami was "evil" for doing that? Glad LK pointed that out.
Yugi is closest to him and without him, Atem is basically alone.
Yeah makes no sense, sacrificing or tributing monsters is completely normal but shooting them at the opponent is suddenly wrong

I still prefer Season Zero to the actual Yugioh :(
I thought the same thing when Ned Stark was on the steps of Baelor's Sept.
DON'T REMIND ME OF THAT SHIT
I know right? When I saw his life points reach zero my jaw dropped. It's still shocking to this day!
The Pharaoh was being so evil by sacrificing his monsters, even though sacrificing monsters is part of the rules of the game and it is impossible to win without it.
You can sacrifice your opponent's monsters. :)
that last part is definitely not true. there's all sorts of deck types that don't require sacrifice.
I wouldn't say it's impossible to win
It’s even funnier when you realize these two characters are 3 seasons apart. Someone was definitely trolling
I don't get it...
@@ThatDragonGuy The joke is that it would make more sense if Mako, having had his father killed by the ocean, grew a hatred for it. Whereas Raphael, having been saved by humans, grew to like at least the humans who saved him. Now I'm not saying the logic is perfect, I'm just laughing at this little coincidence.
I thought Mako got a card from his father so he knew his father was still alive. Wasn't Mako's goal to win Duelist Kingdom to buy a boat and find his father?

kirbyboy92 Flawed is a better word to describe Season 4 after I rewatched it IMO. It's still dumb but not as dumb as I remembered it.
dnmstarsi I watched it for the first time a few months ago, I hadn’t seen much past season 3, and was in awe of the sheer stupidity and boredom of it all.

Why do abridged series make more sense than the original?!
Rad Bman They point out the plotholes plus its more comedic and self aware.
Also yu gi oh is quite possibly the most butchard dub in anime history. On the principle of being based on a children's tcg its going to have plot holes. The dub just rewrote all the dialogue to in some cases entirely change character motivations and make more plot holes. The English yu gi oh may as well be a different tv show from the japanese version with how much they messed with it.
Rad Bman Because it's the fans pointing out plot inconsistencies and interpreting the story and characters in their own way.

Uh yay
"Yugi says I should snap you in half."
"NO!"
I'm still laughing. XD
You made me actually laugh at the Pharoh crying. I felt like a bad person doing it but I just couldn't stop laughing.
Let's be fair; Abridged Atem deserves it
SAME I WAS WHEEZING
I laugh too, and I don't care at all 😂😂😂😂
In abridged series I laughed with all my heart, in real series I cried in that episode and I don't know why 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Pharaoh summoned a bunch of monsters in 1 turn in this duel too.
1) that's clearly stated as an effet, and that the monsters aren't actually summoned
2) you could at least talk about 10:35 instead "Screw the rules! I'm an evil pharaoh from ancient egypt who likes to take people's souls while playing games!" (I mean, I've not seen the show for a good while but I don't see how summoning four monsters at once is a legit move)
11:17
I like how D. Magician Girl and D. Magician are all " We're not mad, just disappointed in you Pharaoh..."
“Our hands are pretty much tied, but you gotta admit you’re the one who tied them.”
Yami:Yugis *agh* goneeeee!
Auuuggghhh agha agalghagha!!!!
Silence*
Joey: OK I think he got it out of his sy-
Yami: YUGIII AHGUHAGH GHAUH !!!!!!¡!!
Ok ok it made me laugh
It made me cry🙁
"Hey blondie! Watch me totally make this jump! Ya Horsy Yaa....Nailed it"
OK? I wasn't ready for that.
Did you not watch season 5? XD He struggled a lot and many died fighting Diabound and Zorc. Lol
Kiba beat Atem as well
sure but that duel against dartz was pretty bullshit
Ok... The way Yugi sacrifices himself here its waaaaay more emotional and deep than it was in the actual show :,v
you mean the 4kids version?
In the sub it was actually really good
I'M SURE YUGI IS REALLY DEAD AND WILL NOT RETURN, ESPECIALLY NOT AT THE START OF THE 3RD ACT OF THE SEASON ARC.
HIS SACRIFICE IS TRULY TRAGIC, I CANT BELIEVE HE'S REALLY GONE AND WE WILL NEVER SEE HIM AGAIN, NOT EVEN IN A MIDDLE-OF-THE-SEASON FLASHBACK AND/OR COMMUNICATION WITH THE SHADOW REALM.
Yuki Lee SILENCE!!!
More of a "Violet Realm", really. Some of it is practically pink.
Doesn't violet mean dark purple tho?
MattManDX1 Violet is more of a reddish purple. A bit brighter than usual purple.
Rob Dillenger I'm going to guess that you know that yugi comes back in the very next episode and you're really just taking the piss here
Actual Yu-Gi-Oh? What is this? I don't understand this combination of words!
Also, Raphael basically won a children's card game by being so serious about being serious that he completely negated the craziness of crazy.
David Hong He meant to say the original Japanese version of the anime series.
Neo-Xgray87 or the English Dub
Well I guess we need pharoah's training montage where he finally learns how to play duel monsters
Put him in the hyperbolic time chamber. Wait . . . wrong series.
Hype Ebonics rhyme chamber.
Hyper Sonic Lion Tamer
That one was on purpose!
thritaldor that was on purpose!
