Sebastian's acting in this scene 😭 So good
I know. Almost no words. Just acting.
This movie is so underrated its one of f the best movies in mcu
My favorite
My fav by far. The practical effects, the great storyline, the amazing chemistry of the characters....there are so many Marvel movies that capture those qualities. But to me this one captures it the best.
Yup it's the best marvel movie imo
Its not underrated. You can see thousands of comments everywhere saying winter soldier is the best marvel movie. Stop using the word underrated for everything you like.
It’s not underrated most ppl say it’s the best MCU film
I don’t know why but the winter soldier is a very likable character (Thanks for giving this so many likes)
Hes the most tragic to me
Hes a good man, turned into a monster who did so many heinous things
I can't help but feel sorry for him as he didn't ask for what HYDRA did to him.
I think he might be the most well written villain story arc in the MCU. Having Steve’s captured best friend be an equal strength and speed be complete bloodlusted is brilliant
He is so well written, but I think that Sebastian Stan should get alot of the credit for showing the vulnerability and pain in the character. The guy has practically no lines in the 2nd two Cap movies, and he is still a fan favourite.
I love to love Loki as a bad guy. Hiddleston just makes him so lovable, despite his dirty deeds. Stan makes you want to care about this bad guy. You love him because he is tragic.
@@kar891 I couldn't agree more, Sebastian's acting really portrays how even the most emotionless and ruthless characters have some form of vunerability or achilles. And for Loki, I think he's already made himself more likeable / loveable, particularly in Thor Ragnarok. Loki still has the element of lies / deception to him but is nearly masked by the light / humourous elements shown in the film.

Did you watch the scene where Pierce (Robert Redford) orders his torture? The terrified look on his face alone made me wonder, "how come up he didn't win any Oscar/Emmy yet?"
I know. I cant understand it. I think it is because Sebastian is an introvert in general and likes to stay back and refrains from shamelessly promoting himself or trying to steal scenes from his acting partners. Too many pseudo celebrity actors do that. As Seb has said on occasion, talent very often does not get someone the job. It is who you know and deals that go on behind the scenes.

What let steve have a break he cant live his life protecting bucky when time came he had to go but that doesnt mean he left him when he needed him the most he fought by him many times even went against his other bestie
@@shaimazaffar4726 he barely spent time with bucky after he found out he wasn’t dead and when he would finally have the opportunity to reconnect he straight up dipped for a girl he barely knew. he choose her over his BEST FRIEND who he apparently really missed. he also left bucky understanding that he was one of the last people bucky had left. i agree steve shouldn’t have to baby him but he should still be there to support him. bucky wasn’t as liked as captain america because of the things he did in the past so his adjustment to the future was way more tough and he didn’t have many people to fall back on. luckily sam was eventually able to get through to him. but in conclusion it doesn’t make sense to me that steve would willingly leave his two closest friends along with a massive burden which was just a shitty thing to do considering he only did it for peggy who he knew for less than a year and hadn’t even started dating yet. it makes no sense and it seems more like a stain on steve’s character.
@@lilymaniscalco1948 but they had to end the story..chris wasnt going to continue playing it and if he didnt go back in time sam becoming captain america wouldnt have made sense...its like he wanted sam and bucky to evolve without him and he left sam for bucky he didnt leave him alone..and when he had to protect him he protected him without thinking about anyone...he doesnt have to baby him around and yeah he was in love with peggy yeah theh were his bestfriends not the love of his life...so ofcourse he would choose her it isnt about barely knowing her..he knew her enough to love her...and waited for her all his life...so i dont think thats a stain to his character...its the end of his story line
Notice that the brainwashing was already cracking. It's like the real Bucky and the brainwashed Bucky fighting against each other. That "I'm with you till the end of line" coming from the man Bucky shared so many memories with was the final blow. He even waited to see if Steve was breathing after saving him. This is got to be one of the saddest action sequences in the franchise.
its true, cos earlier he recognised steve immediately from just hearing his nickname. notice how when his memories were hazily coming back, the last thing he remembered about steve was him yelling “bucky!” after he fell from the train.
steve repeating the end of the line speech + seeing his old friend beat up brought him back to his past. he practically vowed to always look out for steve, and yet here he was, almost killing his best friend
The music with this scene creates a literal masterpiece. Especially at 1:44
Agreed. And I love how Cap wins not by being the strongest, but by showing compassion. That was Luke Skywalker level belief that Bucky was still in there. And now the Winter Soldier redemption arc is one of the better aspects of the MCU. He gets to do the whole "buddy cop" dynamic with Falcon in the next miniseries.

This will always be my favourite Marvel movie. Everything about this scene specifically is just....perfection. The believability of their broken relationship combined with the heartbreaking violin strings echoing their sadness for everything they've lost will always be a punch in the gut. The way Sebastian delivers his "you're my mission" line is so raw and painful :( I remember when I first saw this scene in theatres that it completely changed me in some way. Just? The pureness of their (extremely well developed on screen) friendship is something I've never witnessed before in a Marvel film let alone a film. There's a reason it's most people's number one Marvel movie. Bucky and Steve's eternal appreciation for one another transcends time and trauma.
This movie is a masterpiece.

If only obiwan coulda gotten through Vader
Earlier in the movie and in First Avenger Steve felt responsible for what happened to Bucky. He blamed himself for a long time.
Bucky has to be like one of my top 3 favorite characters. His story is so tragic, he’s such a loyal friend when he sticks by tiny Steve Rogers who has nothing, and he tried so hard to do the right thing 😊
As The music shifts from action to personal, we can sense the friendship that these two had that Steve is trying to awaken. It gets quiet and the noise fades out when Cap says, “I’m with you to the end of the line” because Bucky is finally getting his memory back.

Sebastian Stan and his micro expressions after hearing every sentence about himself as a person and his winter soldier mode being active to kill Steve.... This is the most correct casting choice for Bucky Barnes role and he nailed so good.
I'll never, ever get over the look on Bucky's face after Steve says 'I'm with you till the end of the line'. You could literally see the humanity come back in his eyes.
No you can't.
STOP LYING TO THEMSELVES
One of the prime reasons why Cap is worthy
Imagine actually being with someone till the end of the line, someone that knows you since you were born (not just people your age, adults too) and then their line came to its end and you're still here.
oh this hurts… its especially powerful with these two cos they werent just best friends since childhood, bucky seemed to be steve’s only friend.
iirc, steve’s dad died in his youth and his mom when he was early 20s… plus it was the great depression, steve had many med conditions, etc. throughout all that, bucky was his most loyal friend. he pretty much vowed to always look out for steve.
its crazy how that vow extended well into their adult yrs during the war, and then both coincidentally becoming frozen super soldiers…. meeting at the same time, and finding each other again.
To this day this is my most favourite MCU movie. It is most composed. And this is the best scene.
From the first time a watched this movie in theaters I had no doubt it was the best Marvel movie. Still is till this day.
I will never forgive Marvel for destroying Steve’s character development and making him leave Bucky when he needed him most.
How they ruined steve's character dumbass?
Steve already did everything for Bucky
He deserved his happy life
their relationship is one of my absolute favourites in the MCU
1:16 - 1:27 that change in Bucky's expression.
I think what bucky is feeling in this scene is fear. Through out the whole movie, he was cold, ruthless killer. He didnt seem to fear anything. But Just then when a small memory is starting to hit him back, before he realise, all those so called "missions" are starting to huant him. Killing innoncent people, Mr and Mrs Stark, all his killings.. Great acting..
I don't know. In the bank vault scene where he has his memory wiped you an see he's afraid as well. When the arm restraints come down on the chair just before they attach the electrodes to his head he looks absolutely terrified and even starts hyperventilating just before the shocks begin The supposed mindless and fearless asassin screaming in pain as he's being tortured by his supposed bosses because he had a memory is one of the best scenes in the movie, and also shows there's a lot more to the Winter Soldier than it appears.
He could’ve left the second he dropped Steve on shore but he stayed just long enough to know Steve was alive.
10 years later, this movie and especially this scene still rocks me to the core! It still emotionally tugs my heart strings in a way no other superhero movie at the time was able to do. A sentiment I can’t exactly share with the modern MCU phases aside from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.
can you imagine having to fight your best friend who is like a brother to you. happy they continued their friendship in the rest of the movies.
The Russo Brothers’ were so amazing with all of their MCU movies but especially the Captain America ones. The comic book looking scenes like Cap falling in slow motion, as well as, the moment Cap hits the water. Along with the final shot with Steve lying on the shore with Bucky walking away and the smoke in the background. Beautifully designed.

the thing is, bucky is starting to recognise him before he even says the words. probably because once he sees him beaten up he remembers steve the punk kid too dumb not to run away from a fight, and then he said their formula and bam he suddenly knows without a doubt.
This scene is a masterpiece.
Cap is insanely durable being able to take all those metal bashes, punches and falling into the river after being stabbed and shot three times only a few minutes prior
I feel for both Steve and Bucky in this scene. Here Steve is forced to fight his best friend since childhood, and eventually he refuses to fight him anymore, instead he tries to get Bucky to remember him, to remember who he really is. For Bucky Steve is just his mission, a mission that he has to complete or god knows what will happen to him, and here this man, his mission is trying to tell him that he knows him, tell him his name, things he doesn't even know himself, he's confused. Thats all he knows is his mission.
Sorry about my paragraph there
Not at all. Makes perfect sense. They seem to have done that "mind wipe" using ECT on him regularly and that was not even a punishment, it was to keep him compliant and obedient. He was becoming emotinally compromised and distressed by the memory of Steve and his flashbacks in that scene so they had to erase those memories again.
We don't see what happened to Bucky if he failed to complete his missions successfully, but I suspect it was not pleasant. In fact, he'd probably have been killed if he failed too many times or just as soon as he ceased to be useful.
I miss this mcu
Okay but you can kind of start to see Bucky resurface throughout this whole half of the fight. Like he responds a bit to his name and waits and like listens to Steve more than he would have before. As much as this fight was between Steve and the winter soldier, its also between the winter soldier and Bucky. Brb while I go cry.
I think you're right. His memories started to resurface but he could not listen to Steve because he he didn't finish the mission his handler would kill him. That's pretty strongly implied in the movies: he was only kept alive as long as he was useful and obedient.
I relate this so much with Optimus Prime vs Bumblebee "I am Bumblebee your oldest friend. Optimus, I would lay down my life for you"
