Don't know much about AI but that AI was not able to do anything close to what you guys do! I am super excited to see you guys create your own AI for DIY
Exactly!! I'd rather just hear them talk about their ideas for a space (like they did in the prompting) than them try and get AI to make what they're thinking of. It feels like they end up pulling back their designs to fit what the AI is showing them.
As a graphic artist and my daughter going into the art fields AI completely scares me. To see artists embracing it also gives me real pause and mixed feelings at the very least. Just my humble opinion.
I totally agree as a writer.
In some fashion groups online tons of people were posting their photos generated from AI apps that turn people into historical or period or art type illustrations or photos. Then some people were saying those AI things violate artist's rights and also can be shady about photo or info privacy. (Plus can skew the person's appearance a lot, sometimes even skin color.) I don't remember all the details right now but it brought up mixed feelings from people.
I also have mixed feelings. It's scary to embrace.
On one hand I can see some advantages to AI.
I hated all of the AI room designs. So if you guys do make your own AI to DIY, I'm sure I would be interested in it because your design and art is amazing. I love what you both create as a couple. 😊
I wonder if the more people use it, the more clever it gets so eventually it will threaten creative carreers and hobbies even more? Idk, I really don’t like AI. It kinda freaks me out
I listened to a really good podcast regarding the current writers strike and how a lot of the studios want the right to use AI and that's one of the things the writers are fighting against is this addition.
You could call your podcast “over the Moon” dreaming of your next big design 😊

I’m an artist that just spent my BFA Digital Art thesis project (past two years) focusing on how using AI into an art practice could help me create a meditative video art piece. Im so thankful there’s other artists out here wanting to explore how Ai could help personally speed up their artist practice/explore new things!! Thanks so much for covering such a fresh take on ai for me personally, I love interior design but never thought to use it like this!

The podcast is such a great idea! But maybe not going too much into the AI. You could make a website/app where you can add your own furniture and stuff to a room and then see it in 3D? Love your art Kate it looks amazing!
You hit the nail on the head! The more we use AI the more it learns from us, the more it learns the more it will take over human function….you know how the rest goes.
Call it the Rug Cuddle pod. Cause it's not so exclusive that's exclusionary. But it is uniquely you.
I feel like AI can be a wonderful helping tool, but it should never replace artists or designer, only help !
How many times the AI inserted actual grass into the designs had me laughing right out loud. If you ever did an episode where you recreated exactly what an AI design program churned out, I would DIE laughing 😂😂😂. “It put Astro turf on the bed!!!” Hahahahaha. I don’t think interior designers have to be fearful for their jobs just yet. But fun exercise to watch.
Ai i think the simpler the description the easier for the ai to understand. The over detailed description probably worked against you when you use ai.
This is just my personal opinion i could be wrong, but would be fun to redo the room with simple description to see how it reacts to the different ways to describe your vision for the space.
I know you said the Widow wall was a temporary fix, but I'm in love with it and think it should stay in some form when you redo the main house.
Has anyone on your island have asked you two to redo a room like you all did in California?

@@MrKate That's what I miss about your channel. I loved when you redid people's rooms on a budget, using thrifted materials (as opposed to new stuff donated by a sponsor.) That felt like the most creative content, because you had to think outside the box about how to make or thrift items that worked together.

My dream is interior design. I love designing rooms on canva and playing around with fun things! I like to rework clothes, I have a cricuit so I love the creative content. Your videos make me so happy!!!
Make it a reality! Start doing friends and families rooms. So many people WANT their space designed, but they think they can't afford it. So find people close to you, who want to redo, and use them as testers. Do it free or cheap, but have them pay for supplies and furniture obviously. And u can maybe even flip and sell their old furniture for profit?

love you show, always have, but my 2 cents on AI is that its terrible. For many reasons, not just the output. There a lot of bad happening with AI and it keeps getting excused for the sake of the novelty. Please be very mindful when it comes to AI

The astrological toile is such an amazing idea!!! I will say, as an Aquarius, I know a lot of people associate us with water since we're the "water bearer", but we are actually an air sign, not associated with water. It's certainly not enough to ruin the design for me, but I'd really love if you adapted the design to reflect that.
I drew the ‘water bearer’ Aquarius with a big water sploosh on her head like a hat because the Aquarius I know always make a splash and have a lot on their minds! This was my interpretation of the sign in an artistic way - hope that makes sense!
@@MrKate I agree with Lizzy! As an astrologer and an Aquarius rising it bothers me it bothers me… You could put a light bulb instead. Aquarius is an air sign that reflects intelligence. We have nothing to do with water that reflects emotions.

I think prompts need to be written differently tho, there is a prompt generator, maybe that might help
You guys can also ask it regenerate again either the same prompt and it will understand you want a different version of what they had previously generated

You guys are so progressive. I've just recently been thinking about how i can use AI in my line of work (not design) but hadn't been aware of the design options out there. A really fun way to push us creatively when we don't have the skills to do that ourselves. As you said a great jumping off point. X

I loved this portion on using AI for the room designs. It definitely helps spark some creative thoughts even if some of the suggestions were impractical. I definitely think you should come up with your own AI! That would be great and would be fun to use :)
Anyone else want to see this team tackle gothic victorian. I have been watching Mr Kate for yeas and think they would blow our minds with this challenge. And the pluse side it gets them out of there norm.

i love that table...can't a piece of glass be cut to put over it to make it flat over the "ridges". you could draw on that. as for AI: i listened to a presentation on RUclips by the creators of facebook and their POV of AI. They are SCARED. they are witnessing AI growing and making changes that will occur without the programmer's knowledge. they talked of an incident where the change occurred 2 years ago and it was just discovered!! very scary stuff. and they also talked about the "greed" factor. that people with monetary intent just disregarding any safety issues and concerns to just use it to make a profit. the Irresponsibility of it has MAJOR CONSEQUENCES since AI can grow itself. they compared it to the invention of Nuclear bombs. "at least nuclear bombs don't grow on their own"
That was very interesting. I’m not sure what I think of AI. But I’m sure it’s probably here to stay. It’s kind of scary what all it can do. If it’s put to good use it’s fine. But you know someone will be thinking of whatever bad things they can do with it. That’s the part that scares me.
Podcast Segment Idea!: Put a bunch of famous people throughout history into one box, then types of room in another. Pick one of each and then you'd explain how you'd design Lizzo's bathroom, Judy Garland's home movie theatre, Morgan Freeman's Conservatory, The Dalai Lama's kitchen etc etc

Ai, is good for a tool like sketch-up, or Pinterest. But most humans are drawn to hand drawings, sketches, paintings, models.... you know a human touch. Ai graphics are great for fast reproduction. For example, how Mr.Kate draws out her images and then uses Ai to mass produce amazing wallpaper. Ai is a helping tool, I can’t imagine Mr.Kate drawing up every order.
AI is a doubled edged sword. It was trained unethically by using artists' works to learn on without compensating the artists, nor naming them. That is problematic. I know that it is here to stay, and despite being an artist, I am still interested in roping in AI for my own work and optimizing my workflow.
I think for Interior Design it can function as an inspiration board because in prompting the machine, you are actually processing and developing your own personal vision. Much like you would when you scan the internet for inspiration.
You could say that the current AI is much like the green banana you get from the supermarket. It ripens at home.
AI could never outdo what’s inside your brain Kate😂 ! You don’t get that amazing personal touch that you have when you use a computer!!!

Hey kate i love the design of the astrological women. But wanted to point out, aquarius ♒️ is an air sign, not water sign. But i do understand the concept you went is inspired by the name, (aqua)rius. Hence the water. But just mentioning in case you want to have that in mind while finalizing the design🩵

I did the same thing at my work. I used AI to design for me with prompts. OMG, let me just tell you, it produced such weird things. I tried 20 prompts and I would say only 5 came out as ok.
It's very obvious that we cannot depend on AI for human-centred designs! That personal touch and creativity will never come from AI, no matter how many prompts we use
the AI is cool but it will never take the place of an interior designer. Of corse it can give you ideas but nothing more. I love you guys and i see you kate as my rolmodel, im studing to be an interior designer!🥰😍wish me good luck😆
