as a digital artist it was very humbling to try a proper traditional illustration that wasn't just a rough sketch or spread in my sketchbook. i have to practice more !!

As someone who absolutely loves both older games and the new ones, my opinion is that the oldest are better for more competitive stuff, while the newer ones focus more on individual stories and characters, not saying that the olders didn't have that, but for scarlet and violet per example, you have much more individual information about a lot of different people. I think that also a lot of the older have wayyy to much cherished memories from the old games, that ends up distorting their preferences for the game a little. Anyways!! Beautiful illustration, your art is so cute in this video and the pokemon are adorable
I agree with this partially because I think people also prefer the older games because of the quality. Like I haven’t played scarlet and violet yet but the amount of complaints I’ve seen regarding glitches or animations issues (especially the 3d models) seems to be a problem. Which is pretty sucky considering that the new technology should be improving these things. for me I adore the old sprite art and enjoy the 3d models but the 3d Pokémon models have been used ever since 2013 so it can be a bit bland to look at after all these years especially since the older games would make new sprites every generation or even change them depending on the version of the game you received. Another reason too is how when you complete the games there’s hardly much to do afterwards and there isn’t really a long post game like in previous games. DLCs are technically remedying this but you have to pay more money for it which kinda sucks. The newer games do have strengths but a big issue is that the games should’ve had more time to fully develop especially with bdsp a remake everyone was excited for but became disappointed with due to the quality.
first of all thank you!!✨ and yeah you actually have a really good point! i agree, the newer games are great for their plotlines and characters. and i agree even as an older games fan myself that we can tend to have a rose-tinted view of older games just bc of nostalgic memories. while i do have my preferences i do agree that every iteration of pokemon has its strengths!
i agree totally about the quality. i think most of us probably wouldn't even be having as many of these conversations and criticisms surrounding newer games if their quality was always up to par with what we expect from the company according to what they've delivered in the past. there is something to say about the speed at which they're putting games out for profits and how that puts stress on the development team, but yeah that's just one thing- i think it's a complex issue.
Ohh the markers I always use for traditional art are Huhuhero, which I'm pretty sure are an older version of Ohuhu, and they're really good! I've never had any experience with any other kinds of markers, but they get the job done and I can attest to how well they blend, especially since the ones I have are fine/chisel nib (I know when I was a teenager I reeeeeeaaaaally coveted Copic markers and. Now I'm a digital artist lol) Also now that I'm thinking about it, I think you might be interested trying a Rendr sketchbook from Crescent Creative Products -- the page count is kind of small, but the no-bleed quality of the paper is absolutely insane, like you could totally just drench it with black marker ink and only get a few speckles on the other side, so I imagine it being a lot of fun to do rendered traditional art in!
oh that's cool i didn't know they had an old version like that! so you know too how nice they are~ at least you have them lol! and at least you never took the plunge into the copic collecting journey😅

The final product turned out adorable! 🥰 also you talking about getting back into using alcohol markers made me realize that I haven’t made a finished marker piece in over 4 years…😅 I’ve mostly been using digital art so I sometimes forget that I do traditional as well, which is something I’ve been trying to keep up with(heavy emphasis on the word *trying*) but yeah maybe one day I’ll do another piece with my shuttle markers but the only reason why I haven’t used those in a while is because it bleeds through the pages in the worse way possible. 😱 also I used to be a pretty big Pokémon fan as a kid, but i eventually I gave up on keeping up with the franchise because there is just SO much going on in it and it would feel hella overwhelming to get back into now as an adult. I don’t even think I played a single Pokémon game except for Pokémon go.😂
aww amanda thank you so much ;w;🫶💕 i feel that, it's easy to forget about traditional after doing digital for so long!! sometimes to prevent marker bleed i'll work on a separate piece of paper then tape it into my sketchbook, or you can cover up the bleed thru on the back with other drawings and stuff!
yeah i don't blame you, the franchise got so big compared to what it used to be !! it can be overwhelming even for fans 😅

AWW THANKU SO MUCH🫶🏼✨ aw that's so cool gen 7 was your first game and you were really into the gen 6 anime! they're both very nice gens with loveable pokemon and trainers and stories, i sincerely apologize if anything i may have said about newer pokemon games was possibly hurtful !! i always forget that the newer gens can still very well be some people's first gen or be sentimental to some people and i can totally understand that when i think of it from that perspective, even if they aren't my personal favorite. i hope i didn't come off like i was bashing too much 😹😅

To answer the question, I like any type of video! I'm really not picky, I enjoy both processes of tradional + digital. I would definitely love some more tutorially type stuff? Maybe about how to plan comics? Anything is great though
