    Necessities to me are...
    1. Optics
    2. Light
    3. Sling
    Good, but not required upgrades are...
    1. Foregrip
    2. Back up sights
    3. Grip tape
    And of course, make sure your parts are all quality. You don't need to drop 800 dollars on an optic for it to work well, but dont get Amazon's 50 dollar red dot. Then upgrade your grip, stock, trigger, charging handle, safety, etc. to your liking.

    I got my Streamlight HL-X from Cloud Defense with there mounting system which tucks the light cord out of the way. I also have the Arisaka Offset Scout Mount for my Key Mod Rail which puts the light between the 12 & 3 o'clock position which makes it nice & tight to the rail & close to the iron sites. The Arisaka mount is awesome IMO.

    I really enjoyed your video. Thanks for taking the time to share this content.
    I'm also a big fan of Holosun optics. They have a wide range of high value optics, all the way up to "duty rated or military spec". I understand that there is no technical mil spec or duty rating for optics, but when the optics are constructed of materials equal to or superior to what the military or law enforcement are issuing, the construction comes up to or surpasses what's being issued, have been tested to be able to withstand duty or combat torture tests, and include more features than what's being issued, the logical conclusion is that they are rated to the same level as the big names. I know that was a long sentence there and I apologise for that. I own several Holosun optics and all are plenty good enough for home defence, but I also own their HS151GT-GR. This optic has a higher shock rating than any Aimpoint, can be submerged to a depth of 30 meters (equal to most military issued optics), is constructed of titanium, and has more features than I've seen on any other quality dot optic on the market. All of that for a street price of about $420 - $450. Even Holosun's lowest end optics are built to withstand real world torture.
    I know that's a lot to say coming from someone who isn't a Holosun rep or employee, but I see no reason to spend more for something that is no more durable and isn't as feature rich as these optics. Yes, I'd trust them with my life. Just my two cents.

    My 2 cents, flashlight is fine, but I'm not a big believer in lasers on an ar15. My reasoning; if you have 2 hands on your gun to actuate the laser, you can bring the optic/irons to your eye. In the event you're trying to make an unconventional shot where the laser would help while unable to get behind your ironsights/optic, you probably don't have both hands on the gun to actuate that laser.
    That leaves... 2 handed AR15 shooting from the hip, and VERY awkward one-handed AR15 shooting where the laser has real use.
    On a handgun, I'd say lasers are a great idea. One handed/unconventional/shooting from the hip is a far more likely scenario with a handgun than an ar15. I'm a fan of the tlr8

    • @aaronr336
      @aaronr336 3 года назад

      I think about home defense with the laser, when time is limited, if i can accurately shoot from the hip i will with the help of a laser. Also i have a laser and flashlight to cover my own a$$ if i ever needed to go to court and so i can prove I identified my target and shot safely and accurately.

    We have the exact weapon philosophy as far as set-up. When asked why so many add-ons, you do have to remind them they are quick detach. They are on their for contingency especially if it is ARPistol you travel with. I also am not getting why so many people say you only need a red dot or a laser. How do you learn basic rifle marksmanship without iron/flip-up sights. My mind is blown by that one. Iron sights are tertiary, but in my mind mandatory for any rifle. The magnification basically gives a small AR platform the ability to serve as a mini-recon/patrol rifle. Or, you home with family and somebody wants to go shoot something to BBQ. A red dot alone is not good for either of those. Nice set-up.

      @@jhutch1470 I mean sure if your in the military you could make that argument. But for most everyone else, a quality optic isn’t going to die if you change the battery once a year, and keep spares with you. (I keep back ups in my pistol grip, range bag, and others). If you buy a quality optic, you’re likely not to break it that easy. And if you do, what makes you think the iron sights wouldn’t also be broke?. Js. Or bent? And if your within say 100yrds, you can easily still make hits without any optic or sight.. sooo... for the average plinker, or cop, back up irons sights just aren’t a necessity. That’s my opinion. You don’t have to agree, but I bet you wouldn’t let me shoot at you with no sights what so ever, just using reference points like the top of receiver for example (like a bead sight on a old shotgun). I truly believe back up irons would have been more necessary a decade or two ago. When optics didn’t have the 20k-60k hour battery life, with solid mounting solutions.. the optics are more robust then ever. I just think the military mindset that has been prevalent for decades of “gotta have back up irons “ is a little dramatic. If your that worried about it, I wanna know. Do you carry a spare BCG? What about a spare FCG? Most would say no. But they would tell you, you need back up irons sights that you’ll likely never use. Definitely more likely to break a firing pin or extractor, then a Aimpoint T2 or Eotech for example.. that’s all I’m saying.. I just think the importance of it is way over blown.. :) it’s almost like running two flashlights. One could go dead or break? But if your running quality equipment the chances are, you’ll just be adding weight with a second light more then anything.

      @goinhot9133 3 года назад

      @@jhutch1470 can you at least try to make sense? What part of it do you not understand? Carry a spare battery? Yes. If your optic is so weak it breaks from a simple fall, buy better gear. If the optic would break, why do you think a smaller piece of medal behind it wouldn’t either? What’s more likely to happen, break your optic or break your gun/lose total functionality of firearm.? Are you making the argument you should have back up irons for war? Or for your plinker? Life is all about risk vs reward.. idk you, but chances are, you likely never broke a high end optic. Funny enough, I’ve broke more “iron sights” then I have quality optics. If your to stupid to have a battery changing schedule insuring your batteries are always good. That’s piss poor planning for a guy who thinks he need two sets of sights, and probably two flash lights and two bipods. If your not in the military, and you buy good gear and keep up maintenance on your stuff. A secondary set of sights is pointless. Honestly I think the solution is a optic mount that has a rear sight made into the optic mount itself. Or let me guess, that will break too with the optic, but a dedicated rear flip up sight can never be broken. Also I think it’s worth noting, most people use magpul plastic flip ups for a secondary sight. Soooooooo yeah apparently you think that would never break, but your optic will?. Gotcha. Once again, the average person doesn’t need it. Buy a good optic, change the darn batteries and you’re good to go.
