I use a soil knife to dig out the poa annua, just pops them right out. Digging it out is the best way in my opinion, gets rid of the current weed and the seeds before they drop, normally I can find them before they even form a seed head, Poa triv is straight from hell. I've been spraying it out and digging it out for a few years, I've mostly gotten rid of it now. What worked best for me was digging out the areas and re-sodding it. I also had kind of alot of it in a select few areas and I didn't want dead spots in my lawn so I just removed it all and replaced it!🤣🤣
I have a decent amount of of Poa annua in my yard. I’ve been bagging so far this year to try to limit new seed heads. Recently picked up a accelerator grass catcher. That purchase hurt my pockets lol!
I really enjoy your channel, especially since it’s in North Carolina, so it’s close to me. I’m in Franklin, which is west of Asheville at 2200 foot elevation. I don’t know how much different my temperatures and timing would be from wherever you are in the state. I also have red clay here. Thanks
I'm going to do spot kills with glyphosate using the Green Shoots system first now that I know the grass is growing. (Don't use a cheap hand sprayer in a precision manner...the residual drips will damage good-grass.) I've tried digging it (the problem is picking it up and disposing of it), but it seems like my time is better spent spending an hour to spot kill a couple times.
Triple threat! Ethofumesate, Mesotrione, Anuew!! Heck throw a side of Amicarbazone in there lol! Shits the devil!! Good video Brad.....those Nufarm folks are gonna make some $$$
Is it best to do multiple rounds of Gly on the triv in the spring time? I’m thinking of doing a full Reno in the fall but want to make sure all my triv is dead first
I didn’t have any poa annua in my back yard until I had some dirt brought in to do a renovation now four years later my back yard is just full of it 😢😢😢
Best video on the internet showing poa treatments. 💪🏼
😳🤏
Congratulations on 1k subs Brad, you deserve it! One of the best lawn channels on youtube!! The lawn shots at the end are just insanely gorgeous too!
Thank you!!
Thanks. Here in the Charlotte region facing both poa annua and triv. This helps. Thanks again.
Thanks for watching
Thanks brad good info on the dreaded poa in our fescue lawns!
Thanks for watching!!
Very good points made about the seed heads!
Thank you!

I do the same thing. Cut out the poa annua, reseed and not so much fertilizer in the future and not big high nitrogen doses.
Looking forward to this one
Yeah I use help in this department. Looking forward to this one.

@cpagano8 yes those are expensive! I have one also so I know!
Awesome segmant. I look forward to the next video. Thanks for sharing. What is your recommendation for mower blades to cut fescue ?
Thank you! Thanks for watching!
I run high lift as possible. The brands are endless lol

Brang it on, brotha! I’ve got a 2’ swath of triv and annua about 60’ feet long on the side of my driveway. 👀
Great video on that mess! It can drive you crazy and empty your wallet lol
It’s definitely a pain!

I forgot about Xonerate 🤦♂️ always forget something 🤣🤣
Only idiots like me will buy it 😂😂@@Primetime_Fescue
what about taking a weed torch to it, and then over seeding that area?
I think I'd smoke it and seed it. I've got some Bermuda lurking in my tall fescue. Been covering with slit cardboard and spraying it as best I can.
Is it best to do multiple rounds of Gly on the triv in the spring time? I’m thinking of doing a full Reno in the fall but want to make sure all my triv is dead first
Yes sir spring is the best time and I would do atleast 2 applications
I didn’t have any poa annua in my back yard until I had some dirt brought in to do a renovation now four years later my back yard is just full of it 😢😢😢
That’s always a possibility unfortunately with bringing in dirt!
Can tenacity be used for this .
Not very effective on it it will stun it and turn it white but from what I have seen it comes back even after multiple applications
Digging it out is the only success I've had with it. You can spray with gly, but efficacy is only about 65%. It's a pain..😡
I’ve never had a issue with glyphosate but I always do atleast 2 applications
God I’m tired of poa… it’s even more of pain since I have a fescue kgb blend. Anything that supposedly kills poa kills my kbg
Yup that’s the unfortunate part about kbg
Got poa ? I can help 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Nope no poa here! Wasn’t my lawn🤷♂️
