How can a person with no knowledge of cars figure out that the timing belt has not been changed?

In MOST cases there will be a reminder sticker under the hood letting you know when it was replaced and when it’s due again. I usually tend to put them on either the timing cover or the air intake snorkel so that they are easily located and visible.
