No, he didn’t. He gave a passing stamp to this particular car. Big difference between him reviewing an individual car and advising what models are best to buy in general. Not all Hyundai’s break - when he advises about brands and models he’s talking about percentages and general chances. There are plenty of individual reviews with Scotty looking at a customers Jeep, Chevy, Audi, and him saying: this one’s doing ok! That doesn’t mean he’s endorsing the models as a whole or telling you to buy one. As with all things, if you buy something like a Hyundai, your chances of problems are higher. Hopefully yours will be one of the good ones.

Good thinking. My wife's 2017 Elantra started having misfires and often it was at low rpm. My online research shows a lot of Hyundai engine coil problems over the past several years. I replaced all 4 coils with after-market parts and thus far, no more misfires. The dealer wanted to charge me a small fortune to replace them with new Hyundai coils. Uhhhh....those are the parts that are failing. No thank you. Lots of other customers have solved this problem with higher quality after-market parts. Hyundai should have recalled all these coils. But of course, most manufacturers won't take responsibility until they have to.

I need to get a scan tool for checking codes and resetting them. I am not a mechanic though, so I am not necessarily in need or an elaborate code reader. Are all of them on your DIY list recommendations by you or can you suggest one in particular? I own a 2002 Silverado that I put headers on and a custom exhaust, it has a code showing probably due to the o2 sensors I disconnected. I own a 2006 Mazda3 that has a code showing, Advance Auto said it was the coolant sensor, due to too many short trips? And I own a 2012 Hyundai Genesis sedan that has a code showing, probably for the defective brake booster or abs sensor or something.

quick question. I have a 2015 accent having AC problem. The AC wont go super cold, just slightly cooler than outside temperature. The low side reads 45-50 psi and the high side reads 180-200 when I turn the AC all the way up and engine idling. The outlet gave strong airflow. The low side does reduce to 35 or so when I step on the pedal and it feels colder on highway but just not really cooling. The mechanic shop has replaced almost everything in the AC system, compressor x 3, condenser, expansion valve. The system was flushed multiple times. The only thing left could be AC pipeline, pressure sensor and evaporator. My car shop gave up on it since they cant figure out what goes wrong with it. Any idea?
