One additional piece of information on the Mirror Herb. As long as any Pokémon (even a level 100) is holding a mirror herb, has 3 or fewer moves learned, and is put in a picnic with another Pokémon it will learn any valid egg move that second Pokémon already knows. It only takes 1 second of the picnic being open for the egg move to be learned.

I’m new to this breeding system. But you did such a great job at making it easy to understand. One thing that’s not too clear is this… what is the difference between a standard Mon. To a shiny Mon? Especially if you have a standard Mon with 5-6 BEST IV’s
Only difference with a shiny is the color variance. There's no way to pass down a shiny "gene" but there are methods of breeding that will improve your chances of hatching a shiny. (Look up Masuda Ditto.) I hope that helps to clarify.
This was soooooooo much better to understand. I’m an eevee breeder cause females are rare and people struggle with sylveon, umbreon, and espeon. So I get some pretty decent trades for them.

@@kobe7401 I was making a eugenics joke. When you're breeding you're going for the 6IV ubermensch pokemon (usually, there's a builds that like to have zero IVs on speed). You're essentially deleting all the non-6IVs by releasing them, if you're not surprise trading them away.
Excuse me but Ralts Ability: Trace can come in handy for finding Hidden Abilities which my Female Kirlia helped me find Male & Female Rockruff and they both have the Ability Own Tempo!👏 So now I can easily get Dusk Lycanroc! 😅😉👌
@@BrianSmith-mv8tq unfortunately, until they have an event that gives us the hidden abilities naturally, the only way to get the starters hidden ability is with an ability patch. Not to be confused with the ability capsule, the ability patch is a rare reward only in 6-star tera raids.

SPOILER, so read at your own risk. After beating all main storylines, including the one through Area Zero, and beating the gyms for the second time you unlock the Academy Tournament. When you've beaten the tournament once and 5 star raids 10 times you unlock 6 star raids (after a call from Jim or how the Pokedex dev is called in your version of the game). Here's why it's interesting for us breeders. Our beloved Ditto is available as a raid pokemon. If you beat a 6 star Ditto raid you are guaranteed to land 5 perfect IVs on it with a chance to get a Ditto with 6 perfect IVs. You just need to have super strong Pokemon with type advantages and so on. The 5 star Ditto raids guarantee a Ditto with 4 perfect IVs.
Hey, so I have a ditto with 5 perfect IVs and a dunsparce with the missing perfect IV, so if i give the ditto a destiny knot and the dunsparce one of the power items, will the baby get 6 perfect IVs?
I hate how it’s all limited to end game. Maybe I want to breed the perfect Pokémon and take it on my journey through the main game. I understand not everyone wants to do that, but having the option would be nice.
@@darkenedsoul3003 There are many things locked behind end game in many of the games. Not just breeding items. For instance if I want a Scope Lens for one of my pokemon in Brilliant Diamond it's locked behind end game, after the battle I would have wanted to have it most for. And after the 4th badge is half way through the game. For me, the fun is in making a good team and taking it through the games, it's not fun if I can't do that until half way through the game or until I beat one of the games. This is something that could have made the School have more actual purpose other than just existing for the sake of the plot. Again, it's about having more options and not having to beat a game just to have that option available from the get go.
If you had a parent Pokémon with a bracer and the other had the knot would you still get the guaranteed stat from the bracer or would the knot override the bracer?

You can check your IVs from the beginning by hitting left bumper while looking at their stats. The pale yellow graph is your IVs, and the dark yellow graph is your EVs. You just can't tell their exact value until after the game, but you can still determine which ones have high or low IVs.
Question! So I have a Male Eevee with a hidden ability, and I wanna pass this hidden ability to a Sprigatito (they're of the same egg group). But even if I bred the Eevee with a ditto and got a female eevee with a hidden ability, since it's female the offspring will never be Sprigatito, and if it's male then it will never pass the hidden ability. So is there a way to get hidden abilities on pokemon that can't be found in Tera Raid Battles besides using the Ability Patch item?
GameFreak needs to make to where male Pokémon can contribute a bit more for breeding. Almost everything is determined by the mother. I think abilities should be determined by both parents as well. For example: I have a female Charcadet and a male Scorbunny with it's hidden ability. Due to how breeding currently works, I have no chance of getting a Charcadet with it's hidden ability when it should be a 50/50 chance

Good guide, but S/V seems to completely remove the necessity of breeding for competitive viable pokemon. With the wide availability of power gear, bottlecaps, ability capsules, ability patches, and nature mints; it feels that breeding kinda got looked over in this gen...

I'm gonna be breeding when Pokemon Home integration comes out. I wanna use my perfect IV Eevees that I got in Pokemon Sword, from the NPC in the Wild Area station, for having a Let's Go Eevee save file on my system. I even played a bit of the game in spanish, on another save file, so I can get a "foreign" Eevee and breed peak IV shinies, which I'm going to use to get my shiny eeveelutions.

Destiny knot rolls 5 from either parent. You have a chance to get all 5 from ditto, but it's a small roll. The best way, I've found, is to have 6iv ditto + 0iv parent. Hatching eggs, should net you at least 1iv babies. Make that baby the next parent, and keep going. You should get at least 1 baby with at least 2 perfect ivs, but probably 3. Keep taking the highest iv babies and making them the new parent. When you have a baby with 5 ivs, you're all but guaranteed to keep having 5iv babies. If you use a power item to guarantee an IV, you won't be able to guarantee natures. Destiny knot + everstone is all you really need. Do not worry about power items for breeding.

Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I want to breed a goomy. I have one with 3 perfect IVS and gave it the destiny knot to hold while breeding with a ditto. None of the first 10 eggs have had more than 2 of the perfect IVs from the parent and most of the eggs don't have any perfect IVs at all. Am I using the destiny knot wrong or? Also should I breed for egg moves before IVs?
its not guranteed to give all the 3 perfect iv's, its giving 2 guranteed tho u definitely need a better ditto since it takes iv's from the other breeding pokemon too
The Destiny Knot & Brace combo didn't work for my baby Charcadets. I have a 6 IV Ditto & 5 IV Ceraludge. I gave Ceraludge the brace......... wait... I think I just figured out what I was doing wrong while writing this!
With the mirror herb trick… does that Pokémon just have to be in the picnic with the breeding pair, or does it somehow become able to breed outside its group?
It works outside of it group, I'm not sure but i think clodsire and avalug aren't in the same egg group, yet i got the recover move after a picnic with both.

@@bobjob2514 no babies involved, just have a free move slot and a mirror herb on the pokemon you want to learn and a pokemon with the move you need. When you will leave the picnic it should have the move. Worked for me.
I do surprise trades with my spares and hopefully help other people out. I usually receive garbage in return which I just release but occasionally you can get something really good. The other day I received a shiny froakie.
Ok, do you need to be at a certain point in the game, or visit a certain place or something first? Because I let the game run for over 8 hours in a picnic and didn't get any eggs. and I had pairings that were the same species and male and female, so it should have worked. Or is there a rule about you have to only have so many Pokes in your party or something? Because I had 3 pairs, hoping to get three different sets of eggs over time. But all the pics everyone shows are of just one breeding pair in the picnic.

No, ditto does not pass hidden abilites. The ability will be determined by the pokemon that ditto is paired with. But if you get an ability patch you can get the hidden ability on your pokemon and they will have the chance to pass it down. The chance is all determined by the amount of abilites the pokemon has. For example if the pokemon has 2 possible abilities like the starters. Then the eggs will have a 50% chance. If your pokemon has 3 possible abilities. Then the chanes to get the ability you want is 33.3%
would giving a destiny knot to one pokemon that 6 perfect IV and a bracelet to a pokemon that has the matching stat at perfect IV, could that secure a 6 perfect IV egg? (the logic being if the bracelet forces the one IV, and the knot forces 5, the bracelet would exclude one stat from the selection of the knot and the knot would simply fill the rest)
I could be wrong about this, but in this scenario you describe, I think there's a chance that one of the stats the destiny knot picks to carry over is the same stat that has the power item, meaning that a different stat wasn't selected and has no band to pass it on 100%, so it will be random. But even if that is the case, you should still get a baby with 6ivs quite quickly with that setup.
No because destiny knot secures 5/12 IVS from both parents not 5/6 so it doesnt work, if it does 6/12 with a bracelet i dont know maybe its just 5/11 with bracelet but it would never ever be 6/6 with bracelet and destiny knot

no, ball inheritance and HA only come into play for the specific pokemon being bred. ditto is effectively just a nature/IV breeding thing, for fodder their ability doesn't matter to get a HA through breeding you have to have a pokemon of the same species (evolutionary line) with a HA doing the breeding, as the offspring will always be the same species as the mother this means to get a male to pass down a HA it has to be with ditto, for cross species it has to be a female (as the offspring will always be the mother's species), for same species breeding it doesn't matter if the male or female has it, but one has to have it
Ditto is failed mews I’m pretty sure, not mewtwo. Mew and ditto I think can both transform into any other Pokémon and they both have the same blue shiny color.

Everything mentioned in this video is available after receiving the 4th gym badge. The only thing locked behind endgame is the IV rating system.

@@ngwenyang base stats are directly tied to IVs, and the higher the base stat on a pokemon that has 0 EVs means the higher the IV.

Nah best way is to get AP and just get as many as you can. I did this for the water duck and just spam traded them to people w moxie.

I thought based on what I read from Serebii that if it was a ditto with a male or genderless Pokémon, it was 50/50 as to which Poke ball the bay got not 100% the non-ditto's one?

I have one with 3 perfect IVS and gave it the destiny knot to hold while breeding with a ditto.
None of the first 10 eggs have had more than 2 of the perfect IVs from the parent and most of the eggs don't have any perfect IVs at all.
Am I using the destiny knot wrong or?
Also should I breed for egg moves before IVs?
its not guranteed to give all the 3 perfect iv's, its giving 2 guranteed tho
u definitely need a better ditto since it takes iv's from the other breeding pokemon too
The Destiny Knot & Brace combo didn't work for my baby Charcadets. I have a 6 IV Ditto & 5 IV Ceraludge. I gave Ceraludge the brace......... wait... I think I just figured out what I was doing wrong while writing this!
With the mirror herb trick… does that Pokémon just have to be in the picnic with the breeding pair, or does it somehow become able to breed outside its group?
It works outside of it group, I'm not sure but i think clodsire and avalug aren't in the same egg group, yet i got the recover move after a picnic with both.

@@bobjob2514 no babies involved, just have a free move slot and a mirror herb on the pokemon you want to learn and a pokemon with the move you need. When you will leave the picnic it should have the move. Worked for me.

Ok, do you need to be at a certain point in the game, or visit a certain place or something first? Because I let the game run for over 8 hours in a picnic and didn't get any eggs. and I had pairings that were the same species and male and female, so it should have worked.
Or is there a rule about you have to only have so many Pokes in your party or something? Because I had 3 pairs, hoping to get three different sets of eggs over time. But all the pics everyone shows are of just one breeding pair in the picnic.

It is possible to super train prefect IVs, those can't be passed down with breeding though.

In universe I think it's just you catch the baby in a same-type ball. It just glosses over whether or not you actually had any more of those balls.

Hello, can I unlock the hidden ability of breeding if my Ditto had a hidden ability, the mate has not, regardless of the mate gender?
No, ditto does not pass hidden abilites. The ability will be determined by the pokemon that ditto is paired with. But if you get an ability patch you can get the hidden ability on your pokemon and they will have the chance to pass it down. The chance is all determined by the amount of abilites the pokemon has. For example if the pokemon has 2 possible abilities like the starters. Then the eggs will have a 50% chance. If your pokemon has 3 possible abilities. Then the chanes to get the ability you want is 33.3%
would giving a destiny knot to one pokemon that 6 perfect IV and a bracelet to a pokemon that has the matching stat at perfect IV, could that secure a 6 perfect IV egg? (the logic being if the bracelet forces the one IV, and the knot forces 5, the bracelet would exclude one stat from the selection of the knot and the knot would simply fill the rest)
I could be wrong about this, but in this scenario you describe, I think there's a chance that one of the stats the destiny knot picks to carry over is the same stat that has the power item, meaning that a different stat wasn't selected and has no band to pass it on 100%, so it will be random. But even if that is the case, you should still get a baby with 6ivs quite quickly with that setup.
No because destiny knot secures 5/12 IVS from both parents not 5/6 so it doesnt work, if it does 6/12 with a bracelet i dont know maybe its just 5/11 with bracelet but it would never ever be 6/6 with bracelet and destiny knot

no, ball inheritance and HA only come into play for the specific pokemon being bred.
ditto is effectively just a nature/IV breeding thing, for fodder their ability doesn't matter
to get a HA through breeding you have to have a pokemon of the same species (evolutionary line) with a HA doing the breeding, as the offspring will always be the same species as the mother this means to get a male to pass down a HA it has to be with ditto, for cross species it has to be a female (as the offspring will always be the mother's species), for same species breeding it doesn't matter if the male or female has it, but one has to have it
