  • In this video I show you a great prepping trick of how to freeze bacon. When we buy bacon we usually never cook the whole package at the same time or even cook all of it before the expiration date. But if we freeze the remainder of the package as a whole it freezes together and therefore we are forced to cook the remainder of the package after thawing. Not always needing to eat that much bacon at once usually causes us to have to throw away much of the remainder. I will show you a neat little trick to alleviate this problem that allows you to remove only the amount of bacon you need from the freezer when you want to cook it. Therefore preserving the whole package for several months elevating the food waste.
    You will need:
    Bacon
    Parchment Paper
    Scissors
and a ziploc bac, reusable bag, or food saver bag

When everything old is new again!! My grandmother used a similar method. She was a farm girl in rural Indiana and wore high-button shoes for church, which the family traveled to in a buck-board wagon drawn by a horse, so some time ago. She also bought ice cream on sale, cut it into squares with a big butter knife, wrapped each square in wax/parchment paper and into the freezer it went.

I love this idea. Just purchased 3-lbs. of bacon today. I'm starting to wrap it up right now. Thank you for sharing your technique.

My wife and I have been preparing for about ten years now. Love this hack. We usually cook up the whole pound. But this makes much more sense. Thank you for sharing.

Try taking it one step further on the prepping method for true convenience when u want some bacon in the future. 1.Cook up all the bacon. I like baking it in a glass casserole dish, low and slow. This takes a while, pour out bacon greese after every cooked batch. 2. Once bacon is cooled lay on wax or parchment paper like u did in the video (vertical on the rectangular piece) but no need to add another piece of parchment on top. 3. Roll the bacon piece by piece into your wax/parchment paper, the opposite way shown in the video, so not onto itself but side by side. A messy rolled up bacon log that can be un rolled to expose a full piece of cooked bacon. Bam! So easy to grab a piece or two and add pazaz to any meal. I even eat it strait out of the freezer as a quick snack.

I do this and works great for me and the hubby, since we are retired and on a fixed income. This way we can buy on sale and only use what we need..... such a great idea..❤

I just toss the whole package in the freezer and thaw when needed. My family has no trouble whatsoever consuming it before it expires.

Thanks! I might try this method when I go to the store and buy some bacon. If not, I'm gonna look for another video to store bacon in the freezer for different methods.

Super! Read a description of the method, but it wasn't complete. It neglected to add the 2nd sheet of parchment on top. Made no sense so, needing a visual, I looked it up on YT and found this one. Aha! Useful concept might work also for deli sandwich meats, ground sausage meat, hot dogs and such when you're cooking for two.

Wait. You mean there isn’t a law where once the package is open you must eat it entirely? That’s actually a good idea for those times when you just need a couple of pieces. Thanks.

dumb question, but when you take it out of the freezer do you cook it normally in a pan like when it’s refrigerated?

I let the bacon out for about 5 to 10 minutes to unthaw and it is good to put in pan
