Lyrics:
Commander, commander
Mission control
Gravity zero
Pray for my soul
Tell my family I love them
Don't forget to kiss the children
Tell me, why do I have to be the one?
Gone beyond my limits
Hotter than the sun
No, I can't handle this at all
Got connected fever
And I'm bouncin' off the walls
Commander, commander
I'm losin' my mind
Break up the silence
Give me a sign
Give me static, give me noises
Let me hear some human voices
Tell me, why do I have to be the one?
Gone beyond my limits
Hotter than the sun
No, I can't handle this at all
Got connected fever
And I'm bouncin' off the walls
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
Bouncin' off the walls...
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
I'm bouncin' off the walls
Tell me, why do I have to be the one?
Gone beyond my limits
Hotter than the sun
No, I can't handle this at all
Got connected fever
And I'm bouncin' off the walls
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
Bouncin' off the walls...
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
Bouncin' off the walls
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
Bouncin' off the walls
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
Bouncin' off the walls
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
(Hey hey hey hey)
Bouncin' off the walls
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
Boom boom boom boom boom boom
Bouncin' off the walls
May-Day, I'm fallin'...

What blows my mind is Matthew produced this song which to me, is a complete 180 from Break My Stride. He also ditched the mustache and became something completely different for Bouncin’ Off The Walls. I think it’s pretty cool. I thoroughly enjoy the versatility.
Those lesser known songs from times past seem to have the coolest videos.
I think there is something to that, video wise and musically and lyrically. Most "hits" are not usually the best song by the given artist because a hit is often dumbed down to the masses and doesn't have much complicated music or lyrics. Compare Joe Jackson's Stepping Out with You Can't Get What You Want Til You Know What you Want or Tears For Fears most famous hits with their lesser known song Working Hour in terms of musical complexity.
By 1984 an industry had been built for creating high quality music videos quickly and cheaply like this one. Unfortunately the music industry hit a recession the next year and the number of great videos dropped a great deal.
@@DIMP11 has to be radio friendly and his other songs are great as well
He probably relied too much on the music video to sell the song as a single and the single just ultimately didn’t really connect with the public.
He identifies as a glammed up old lady lol
The perm is strong with this one.
One of the under appreciated singers and song writers.
he music was faraway ahead from his time... really love this one...
I was going to write the same. Today’s pop/dance mimics this event the vocal
Arrangement. With HD instruments
Surprise how good this song is
Bravo.. I am peruvian.. For me your music art is the soundtrack in my life... Gracias thanks grazzie.... You are amazing musician... Bravo for you art in the rock and roll
Great special effects for 1984.
If Gene Wilder, Elton John, and Lionel Richie had a child....
lol
@Captain Crunch Your mom does as well, but we still love her.
Soo true lol
How
gawd
His music NEVER gets old, sadly just a two albums full and a single "WORK SO HARD" that he did, but its those songs that the fans enjoy, and it goes to show after all this time, his tunes are still loved.
how is this not a thing
exactly..maybe because the modern jerks have no taste anymore ;)
1980s song.
Flash forward to 2020 and it is a thing.
It wasn’t a thing at the time. The single was a flop and the album was a flop and Wilder got dropped from the record label soon after.
i heard this song for the first time two weeks ago and i downloaded the entire album on iStore.
i cannot believe that this album was considered a flop and yet i have been playing it none stop.
the album was released two years before i was born but i am loving it
People liked “Break My Stride” more than they liked his music in general. It also didn’t help that his relationship with his record company CEO soured by the second album because Wilder apparently refused to allow any of the songwriters and producers the label CEO wanted Wilder to sing with. The label head pretty much didn’t even try to have the album promoted and it contributed to the single and album’s failure.
Oh my god I’ve never seen this!!
Evergreen song. Genius really. Reminds me of the old good days
entered Billboard Sept 22, 1984 ..reached #52
Very unique song and video.
Thank you for the video.
GRACIAS POR EL GRAN VIDEO....AMO ESTE TEMA GRACIAAAAS 👍👍👍👍❤️💛💚💙💯💢💯
Love this song so much! Reminds me of being young and in school.
Never heard this in the 80s awesome shouldve been a big hit!!
I hadn't ever heard it either. I only remember "Breakin' My Stride," so I wanted to look up some of the other pieces he did. I was surprised to learn he composed the music for Disney's Mulan. He's quite versatile!
Such talent and man...that voice! So clear and musical. I always thought when Dennis DeYoung stepped out of Styx that Matthew Wilder would have been a shoe in!
The great 80's. One of the best songs.
Yeah.... great.
well lets not go crazy, now...
Thanks for the great music. Man i miss the 80s.
this song sounds so refreshing good in 2023💚💙💜🤎🧡 - love this tune so much and I m happy that i finally dscovered it
洋楽にハマってた高校生の頃好きな曲でした😃
40年ぶりくらいに聴いた。懐かしすぎる。
Brutal!! No lo conocía pero muy avanzado musicalmente para su época, genial , gracias por esta joya 😊
Un genio. Lo conocía yo. Crecí escuchando a el. Una música que jamas se convertirá antigua. Seguirá siendo nueva y buena.😊
On this day in 1984 {November 3rd} Matthew Wilder performed "Bouncin' Off The Walls" on the ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'...
At the time "Bouncin' Off The Walls" was at position #58 on Billboard's Top 100 chart, the week before it had peaked at #52 and it spent nine weeks on the Top 100...
And on the same 'Bandstand' show he also performed "Hey Little Girl", it was track three of side one on his second studio album, 'Bouncin' Off The Walls'...
The New York City native had two other Top 100 records, "Break My Stride" {#5 in 1983} and "The Kid's American" {#33 in 1984}...
Matthew Weiner will celebrate his 67th birthday in two months on January 24th, 2020...
“Hey Little Girl” was released as the second single from the album.
そんなにヒットしなかったですが大好きな曲です😃
Doideira esse vídeo trem loco Vorta
ok i can dig it.
i didn't remember this song. Great remember. From second album of Mathew Wilder, less success than the first but this is a classic song.
How is a single that wasn’t a hit any bit “classic”?
Amazing.
I love this song, and I will always do. Great song!
Matthew Wilder looks like Gene Wilder in this video.
He does actually!
But definitely a better look than when he did Break My Stride.
more like the sixth doctor
Sooo true 🤣 but I love this song
Not really he is more like Sammy Hagar his facial structure more like him.
A 10 year old listening to Matthew Wilder
Mr Wilder is epic i just wish he would do some concerts again!
*****
I wish I heard this before break my stride. 😔
It peaked at no. 29 for 2 weeks in South Africa in Feb 1985
Really good song
Love the drums.
Best Video Ever!!!!!
good old song......
super cool this tune
...I saw this Video, ONE TIME, on "New York Hot Tracks" in NYC, Fall of '84....now, I see why! ...Oh, Matthew... the 'Poodle' hair...the resemblance to Gene Wilder & Sammy Hagar...the 99 cent store 'Gay astronaut' ensemble... the 'inside my eyeballs' motif.... WHEW! ...Should've just been the 'red room' shots, with the chick, Man...but, I'm GLAD nuthin' broke your 'Stride'.....
I swear, this number came out a decade before I was born, but if I had been around, I would’ve definitely bought it!
Pity this guy fell off the radar after Break my Stride….
He has said he basically was made and broken by record company politics. The head of his record label engaged in basically payola practices to play “Break My Stride” and that’s what got the ball rolling on it being a hit single. Then, when he recorded his second album, his record label head tried to convince him to use his producers and songwriters to contribute songs to the album and Wilder said no. He said the CEO got angry with him and basically didn’t even try to promote the second album and Wilder ended up getting dropped not long after this was made.
@@RocStarr913 True artist. Respect.
This song is the continuity of space oddity of David Bowie AKA space changes the man.
At yx Dovre in Norway they still sell the casette 👍
I broke my stride to get here.
But there is no Video.
I'm going back.
How was "Break My Stride" better received than this, I wanna know
Break my stride is popular on tiktok 🤷
@@demon_maiden10 Tiktok has a way of making anything popular these days
@@Cryptrik Thats true
Because "Break My Stride" sounds better
People prefer songs that are easier to remember the lyrics to and songs that are catchy which break my stride is on both ends
rhythm is gonna get you ;)

Alguém em 2021
Jesus christ where has this song been
Robin Williams + Woody Harrelson = Matthew Wilder 🥴😵💫
Major TOm
I have en extensive music catalog mind - but I never saw this video before. I was just on Wiki and they called this video 'innovative,' so I wanted to see why. I guess so.
Though reminds me Elton John
Tried to buy this on iTunes. Not available 🙁
Me when I eat grandma candy
Why does grandma's candy have her name on it? Why is it so difficult to open? Why have I never seen "Percocet" in the candy isle?
His voice reminds me of Paul Gray from Wa Wa Nee. Search for their music trust me
Show
This is so 80's Lol
This video makes him look like he’s going to have to science the shit out of something.
This dude is like a cross between Jon Bon Jovi and Liberace..lol
It likely played a role in why he didn’t last as a performer. He didn’t look particularly telegenic and got overshadowed by other pop stars.
Stop doing drugs is the message for this one
This is the same room from Nightmare on Elm Street Tina's death
Who is the very beautiful girl in the video? She's absolutely gorgeous
londonsynth she also probably a raisin at this point
Hey, just heard this one and was hooked - any chance of getting the singles edit on iTunes?
No
Always wondered why they made videos for his second and third single but not the first one.
Wilder has said that by the time he pitched a music video to the record label, he said he was laughed at by the executives and was told there was no point in making a music video for “Break My Stride” because “it had already became a hit.”
How is from 2013 if the channel was created in 2020
He did well for himself… wrote hits for No Doubt, Kelly Clarkson & Christina Aguilera
And Disney....he composed all the songs for Mulan.
When ur in the music store.
Traduccion.
Am I the only person who sees the Messenger icon at the top right of the screen?
My eye hurts now
He had avitars before avitars were a thing....#Gshit
Richard Simmons and Michael Jackson had a baby
why does he look like collin baker in this video
The song is a lot better than that video. :-)
This sounds very Peter Gabriel to me..
0:51 Michael Jackson???...
I dont like Matthew wilder without his mustache
his voice is still perfect
He is so cute without the moustache
So many 80's video clichés in one video!
Lionel Richie copied this effect a year or so later with "Dancing On The Ceiling" video.
Richie was a much bigger singer and “Dancing On The Ceiling” was a more catchy song.
@@RocStarr913 - What does the popularity of a singer or merits of a song have to do with stealing a video idea?
I guess break my stride was his only good song one hit wonder
Hopefully he got sued by Micheal Jackson for that title. Lol.
You're an idiot. Fuck Michael Jackson, that creepy weirdo boy-diddling predatory pedophile piece of shit!! 🖕😡
Good god no.....I think I'll just stick with "Break my stride".
This is like the ugly sweater of music videos.
This guy's a damn mess
It's not as catchy as Stride 🤨
Does anybody realizes dis was a commercial failure im just saying !
+Keshone Elam Actually it wasnt a commercial failure worldwide, it actually was a huge hit in Canada and as well in parts of Florida at clubs. The song still is very much liked among his fan base :)
A Club Hit doesnt say anything about a COMMERCIAL failure or success, just the sales and they had been bad
He got dropped from his record label not long after this.
Such talent and man...that voice! So clear and musical. I always thought when Dennis DeYoung stepped out of Styx that Matthew Wilder would have been a shoe in!
