Hands down, the best book I have ever read by Stephen King (I’ve read about 15) is 11/22/63. It’s about romance, time travel, and so much more 😭 it’s on my brain every day. And it’s my second favorite book ❤
Les miserables is my all time fav! I also love hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, and now I kinda wanna read the operators manual for planet earth!! @@onceuponanemilyreads
You have such a good demeanor for video! Clear, loud voice without a lot of stuttering or hesitation, and a calm presence without fidgeting or distracting movements
I really enjoyed Frankenstein when I read it in school. I think it's a really good book to annotate but even if you're only reading it for pleasure I highly recommend watching a summary video on the themes like Crash Course has because it's just so interesting how many things fit into this book and how many conversations you can have about it. On the other hand, I absolutely detested East of Eden when I had to read it hopefully you're experience is better than mine! I loved the classic The Awakening by Kate Chopin and I wish more people would read it
I haven't seen a Chuck Palahniuk book in peoples TBR in a long time! Invisible monsters and choke by him were also good and if you like him then Bret Easton Ellis is great too. His books are all in the same universe so Patrick Bateman in American Psycho is connected to Sean from The Rules of Attraction which have both been adapted into movies. Both authors have a transgressive style of writing. Also if you like Eckhart Tolle then the untethered soul by Michael Singer is fantastic. I also enjoyed women who love too much by robin Norwood which dives into our child traumas how it connects to the type of men we pick in our lives. Super interesting!. Follow it with the book Attached by amir Levine to get the full circle
i loved american psycho, will definitely be looking into ellis’ other books! i also loved the untethered soul :,) i will add those last two to my list!
You have such a great variety of books! I feel like The Dark Tower might be an intimidating Stephen King to start with since it’s part of a long series. If you’d want to try a stand-alone I would recommend The Institute or Misery. Orrr… his Mr. Mercedes trilogy is fantastic as well. I’d really like to read Emma this year! If you ever want to do a buddy read lmk 😌 also yesss I remember Emily Windsnap she was that girl!!! 🫶
Highly recommend Frankenstein and Piranesi! Both are incredible. I still haven’t read The Poppy War, but I’ve heard great things about it, and I enjoyed Babel by the same author.
The tale of Emily Windsnap are such core childhood books I was obsseseed. Also, plz pick up Piranesi. It was my favourite book of 2022!! The end is open for interpretation as well which I think you said on a video you enjoy! This is my review of it in an effort to give you the final push heheh: This book mesmerized me. It also taught me a lot of beautiful words. Sussana Clarke writes beautifully and describes vividly and with precision. It was a pure joy reading this book. It transcended me too into another world. Even before the plot kicked off I couldn't stop reading. It felt almost like a meditation. The way I interpret it, no spoilers it differs for everyone, is as silence. Silence and peace. My interpretation of it (maybe read it after your done I don't want to influence your thoughts): For me it was about us humans and how we long, but also can't fathom or stand anymore, just being by ourselves and our environment. Being alone, without the input of external factors through any sort of media. About being in tune. I feel like this book is about people searching for serenity yet not being strong enough to claim it or confusing it with power and others who do so by seer naivety or surrendering and forgetting. For me, a critique on modern life, how fast it goes and how, especially now through the screens, we are never alone, even though, in secret from our consciousnes, we miss it.
Just finished this new, original collection of fairy tales, entitled 'Sillies, Fancies, and Trifles' - its perfect for the season. What's everyone else reading, I want some more recommendations to add to the lovely ones here.
Awesome video :) Brave New World by Aldous Huxley is a brilliant read and I also recommend Animal Farm by George Orwell! Stumbled across your channel and love the content :)
