It’s not just the characters are amazing but also the gameplay is very fun and you pick 9 classes and there’s so many achievements to get for each one and sometimes it’s very chaotic and annoying that you don’t even know WTH is going on anymore
TF2 is a game anyone would enjoy, even if it's their first FPS. The current TF2 experience though... it speaks for itself. Unique old mechanics, same iconic characters, and a totally fixed bot crisis.

Also, he's dangerously scatterbrained. - Pyro can somehow raise a largely successful business in a few months, but still doesn't realize it's not okay to rip someone's hand off. - Demoman (Tavish Degroot) didn't lose his eye to any explosions - rather, his eye socket got cursed by that above wizard's annoying cursed tome. - Heavy (Mikhail, nicknamed "Misha") is one of two people to successfully infiltrate the hideout of the Administrator (their highest superior and the match announcer). The other one is Pyro, but this still demonstrates how cunning Heavy is. (The Sandvich is just one of Heavy's equips - a potent healing item.) - Engineer's (Delham Conaghan) family has worked with Blutarch Mann, the head of the BLU company, for three generations. His advanced weapons were originally conceived by his grandfather. - Medic (Ludwig) has safeguarded himself from his contract-bound fate to Hell by surgically adding 8 other souls - very likely from his own teammates. He does legitimately care about them, though. - Sniper (Mr. Mundy/Mun-Dee) was actually from the advanced underwater country of New Zealand, but was launched to rural Australia by accident when he was a baby. Somehow, this update was big enough for them to make a mini comic for it called "The Insult That Made a 'Jarate Master' out of Sniper". Soldier went on a rampage a few years after WWII and killed "supposed nazis" The Medic is clearly the one who took the skeleton out of the patient mentioned, and actually doesn't even have any medical qualifications at all. He joined the TFC crew in the comics just to buy exotic animal parts to experiment on. He used these parts to even bring Sniper back to life. Spy *is* actually Scout's dad, but Spy doesn't want him to know this. So, when Scout almost dies in against a wall in the comic, Spy disguises as a celebrity to make Scout think that THAT was his dad. In the comics, Scout is actually said to be God's gift to Earth, which is hilarious considering Scout's high ego. We don't know much about the Pyro, not even his/her name, gender, or even species. (Yes, we don't know if Pyro is even human) Pyro actually isn't drugged, and is really Schizophrenic. It is supported and theorized that his/her goggles make him/her see this way. We think "Pyro" isn't called that for dealing with fire, but more specifically in short for "Pyromaniac." Heavy names his guns, with his first/starter/main gun being named Sasha, as seen in the video. Heavy's sister, Zhanna, is in an affair with the Soldier. Heavy used to be in a Siberian gulag before it burnt down and he, his three sisters, and his mother ran away from there. The Sniper's adoptive name is Mick Mundy, but his actual name from before he was adopted was, coincidently, Mun-Dee. The Engineer cut off his arm for the weapon Gunslinger. The Engineer has, like, 11 PhD's. Demoman (Demo) has around 26-27 different jobs and lives in a mansion. Demo is an extreme alcoholic, and, if fed REAL food, his body will think it is poison and make him sick. Demo can command his organs as he pleases (except for his liver) and can even turn them into alcohol distilleries. The Medic once made a deal with the devil, having taken the souls of the other mercs. The Medic likes placing baboon uterus in people. The soldier likes buckets and teleporting bread for three days straight. Scout has a crush on their assistant, Ms. Pauling. Scout even asked for advice from Spy to help him learn how to ask women out. Soldier was once the roommate of the franchise's wizard, Merasmus. Soldier also once turned Merasmus' castle into a racoon sanctuary. Saxton Hale, a big (almost litteraly) character from TF2 once lost a fight to a young girl because he didn't want to have to fight a young child.
Fun fact: some time ago, the medic sold his soul to the devil. Later in the comics he dies and goes to discuss the deal with him. He then points out a specific part of the contract that states he can only be sent to hell if the devil owns a majority of his soul. Obviously the devil is confused; the medic sold his soul to him, so he should own all of it, right? The medic revealed he surgically gave himself eight more souls so now he only owns 1/9 of his soul. He then makes a second deal with the devil which basically goes “revive me and maybe later you can trick me into giving you the rest of my souls. In fact, that’s a lovely looking pen!” He sells another soul for the pen, gets revived and then immediately threatens an enemy with baboon pregnancy.

Couple of fun facts: Soldier was never even in the army, though not for a lack of trying; during WW2, he was rejected by _every single branch_ of the US military, because he's a complete lunatic. So, he trained himself to fight, bought a plane ticket to Europe, and started slaughtering Nazis. He didn't stop until _1949,_ when someone finally got through to him, and told him the war was over. He's also a fully-capable lawyer, but only in Guam. When he's "off-duty," he stays in a tiny apartment, eating army surplus rations, doing push-ups, and reading countless "Guns & Haircuts" magazines. Although, it's implied Soldier can't read, so maybe he just likes to look at the cool pictures. Demoman actually has a number of pirate-themed weapons and cosmetics. There's the Loose Cannon, which is a ship's cannon turned into a makeshift grenade launcher, the Tide Turner, a ship's steering wheel which he uses as a shield (and it somehow _works),_ and many more. And in that censored line, he actually said, "They got more feckin' monsters in the great Loch Ness than they got the likes of me...". In the TF2 universe, the Loch Ness Monster is very much real; in fact, the Demoman lost his left eye in a botched attempt to kill the Loch Ness Monster (at least, until it was retconned to have gone missing due to a literal sentient spellbook). My favorite theory as to why the line was censored is that the British government didn't want people to know the truth of the Loch Ness Monster's existence, and used the word "feckin" as an excuse to censor it. Lastly, the one person the Demoman _doesn't_ want to blow up is his own mother; in fact, at one point he was working _three jobs_ to give her a comfortable life. She still roasts him every chance she gets, but he just smiles and continues pouring her tea. In the tie-in comics, it was revealed that these interviews were done to help the administrator (These guys' boss) gain incriminating info to use against them. Heavy was smart enough to realize there was an ulterior motive, so he didn't say anything more than absolutely necessary. Even when the director specifically asks him about his father's death and his stint in a Soviet Gulag, Heavy just says, "I like this gun, I like to shoot this gun; is _all you need to know",_ over and over again. Because despite his outward appearance, Heavy is one of the smartest characters in the lore (with Medic and Engineer being the only ones smarter). Heavy also apparently has a PhD in Russian Literature, if "Poker Night at the Inventory" is to be believed. Also, Heavy (similar to Demoman) works to provide for his family; in Heavy's case, not only his mother, but his sisters as well. The fact that he *LOVES* his job is just the icing on the cake. Engineer built and designed not only the sentry guns seen in the video, but also dispensers (which provide on-demand healing and ammunition) and teleporters (which do exactly what you'd think a teleporter would do). Both the RED and BLU teams are working for Redmond and Blutarch Mann, respectively, two brothers who are *BITTER* rivals. They talked their father, Zepheniah, into buying a bunch of land in the USA, but on the trip there from England, Zepheniah somehow caught _every disease known to man._ On top of that, he found that the land he'd squandered his fortune on was _utterly worthless._ So, on his deathbed, he gave both of his sons equal shares of the land, knowing full-well they'd waste the rest of their lives trying to steal each other's shares. Both brothers are actually over 200 years old, thanks to being hooked up to Life-Extender Machines. Those Machines were built by the Engineer's grandfather, Radigan. Radigan also invented the "Combat Mini-Sentry"; after finding its schematics, Engineer began building it himself. Medic was born and raised in West Germany; specifically, in Rottenburg, a small town outside Stuttgart. He lost his medical license after removing someone's skeleton, and was chased out of the country after he hijacked a catering van that was supposed to be used for the Prime Minister's wedding. The thing he heals people with is the Medigun, but it originally wasn't supposed to do that; the insanely powerful healing is merely an unintended side-effect of what it's _actually_ supposed to do. What is it supposed to do? We have _no idea._ Medic has an obsession with grafting seemingly random animal organs into his patients (as evidenced by the "Mega Baboon" heart he grafted into Heavy). In that same fridge, he also has a heart labeled "Loch Ness Hamster", giving credence to the above-mentioned Loch Ness Monster. Although he was raised in Australia, Sniper was actually born in New Zealand. I can't explain why he left without going into spoiler territory, but it's shown in the comics. And Snipers (in FPS games in general) are commonly regarded as campers; as a sly joke towards that stereotype, the TF2 Sniper drives and lives in a camper van. As for the pee jars? Those are a weapon in-game. Yeah, you can quite literally throw _jars of PISS_ at people. Thing is, at the time "Meet the Sniper" was released, the only weapons Sniper had were his rifle, an SMG, and a bowie knife (Or "Kukri", as the game calls it). The Jarate was later "revealed" in an April Fool's comic... and then _actually added to the game._ The "1-1-1... Uh, 1!" thing in Meet the Spy is a reference to how, for a large chunk of the Cold War, the launch codes for the US Army's nuclear weapons was, "0-0-0-0-0". Just a string of zeroes. So, in theory, all one would've had to do to sabotage America's _entire nuclear arsenal_ would've been to go up to one of the computers and just type in a bunch of zeroes. As for the video itself: Spy cut the Sniper's cheek in the video; after it was released, the Sniper's default character model in-game was updated to have a scar there. And Spy is currently canonically sleeping with Scout's mom; yet despite being something of a womanizer, Spy has genuinely fallen in love with her. The entire "Meet the Spy" video was actually leaked on RUclips a few days before it was supposed to go up; the story goes that Valve forgot to make sure the video was private, and by the time they realized what happened, it was too late. Valve took it fairly well actually, even giving themselves a mock achievement, "Failure to understand what "Private" means". And yeah, Spy (along with Sniper and Pyro) is one of the most popular classes amongst new players. The sight of around 3-5 Spies all perpetually waiting to respawn was such a common sight that the TF2 community came up with the word "Shpee" to describe new Spies (The word coming from an OG TF2 RUclipsr, Jerma985). It's died down somewhat, but it's still seen every now and again, and I always smile when I see it, despite myself. Fun fact: some time ago, the medic sold his soul to the devil. Later in the comics he dies and goes to discuss the deal with him. He then points out a specific part of the contract that states he can only be sent to hell if the devil owns a majority of his soul. Obviously the devil is confused; the medic sold his soul to him, so he should own all of it, right?
The medic revealed he surgically gave himself eight more souls so now he only owns 1/9 of his soul. He then makes a second deal with the devil which basically goes “revive me and maybe later you can trick me into giving you the rest of my souls. In fact, that’s a lovely looking pen!” He sells another soul for the pen, gets revived and then immediately threatens an enemy with baboon pregnancy.

Couple of fun facts: Soldier was never even in the army, though not for a lack of trying; during WW2, he was rejected by _every single branch_ of the US military, because he's a complete lunatic. So, he trained himself to fight, bought a plane ticket to Europe, and started slaughtering Nazis. He didn't stop until _1949,_ when someone finally got through to him, and told him the war was over. He's also a fully-capable lawyer, but only in Guam. When he's "off-duty," he stays in a tiny apartment, eating army surplus rations, doing push-ups, and reading countless "Guns & Haircuts" magazines. Although, it's implied Soldier can't read, so maybe he just likes to look at the cool pictures.
Demoman actually has a number of pirate-themed weapons and cosmetics. There's the Loose Cannon, which is a ship's cannon turned into a makeshift grenade launcher, the Tide Turner, a ship's steering wheel which he uses as a shield (and it somehow _works),_ and many more. And in that censored line, he actually said, "They got more feckin' monsters in the great Loch Ness than they got the likes of me...". In the TF2 universe, the Loch Ness Monster is very much real; in fact, the Demoman lost his left eye in a botched attempt to kill the Loch Ness Monster (at least, until it was retconned to have gone missing due to a literal sentient spellbook). My favorite theory as to why the line was censored is that the British government didn't want people to know the truth of the Loch Ness Monster's existence, and used the word "feckin" as an excuse to censor it. Lastly, the one person the Demoman _doesn't_ want to blow up is his own mother; in fact, at one point he was working _three jobs_ to give her a comfortable life. She still roasts him every chance she gets, but he just smiles and continues pouring her tea.
In the tie-in comics, it was revealed that these interviews were done to help the administrator (These guys' boss) gain incriminating info to use against them. Heavy was smart enough to realize there was an ulterior motive, so he didn't say anything more than absolutely necessary. Even when the director specifically asks him about his father's death and his stint in a Soviet Gulag, Heavy just says, "I like this gun, I like to shoot this gun; is _all you need to know",_ over and over again. Because despite his outward appearance, Heavy is one of the smartest characters in the lore (with Medic and Engineer being the only ones smarter). Heavy also apparently has a PhD in Russian Literature, if "Poker Night at the Inventory" is to be believed. Also, Heavy (similar to Demoman) works to provide for his family; in Heavy's case, not only his mother, but his sisters as well. The fact that he *LOVES* his job is just the icing on the cake.
Engineer built and designed not only the sentry guns seen in the video, but also dispensers (which provide on-demand healing and ammunition) and teleporters (which do exactly what you'd think a teleporter would do). Both the RED and BLU teams are working for Redmond and Blutarch Mann, respectively, two brothers who are *BITTER* rivals. They talked their father, Zepheniah, into buying a bunch of land in the USA, but on the trip there from England, Zepheniah somehow caught _every disease known to man._ On top of that, he found that the land he'd squandered his fortune on was _utterly worthless._ So, on his deathbed, he gave both of his sons equal shares of the land, knowing full-well they'd waste the rest of their lives trying to steal each other's shares. Both brothers are actually over 200 years old, thanks to being hooked up to Life-Extender Machines. Those Machines were built by the Engineer's grandfather, Radigan. Radigan also invented the "Combat Mini-Sentry"; after finding its schematics, Engineer began building it himself.
Medic was born and raised in West Germany; specifically, in Rottenburg, a small town outside Stuttgart. He lost his medical license after removing someone's skeleton, and was chased out of the country after he hijacked a catering van that was supposed to be used for the Prime Minister's wedding. The thing he heals people with is the Medigun, but it originally wasn't supposed to do that; the insanely powerful healing is merely an unintended side-effect of what it's _actually_ supposed to do. What is it supposed to do? We have _no idea._ Medic has an obsession with grafting seemingly random animal organs into his patients (as evidenced by the "Mega Baboon" heart he grafted into Heavy). In that same fridge, he also has a heart labeled "Loch Ness Hamster", giving credence to the above-mentioned Loch Ness Monster.
Although he was raised in Australia, Sniper was actually born in New Zealand. I can't explain why he left without going into spoiler territory, but it's shown in the comics. And Snipers (in FPS games in general) are commonly regarded as campers; as a sly joke towards that stereotype, the TF2 Sniper drives and lives in a camper van. As for the pee jars? Those are a weapon in-game. Yeah, you can quite literally throw _jars of PISS_ at people. Thing is, at the time "Meet the Sniper" was released, the only weapons Sniper had were his rifle, an SMG, and a bowie knife (Or "Kukri", as the game calls it). The Jarate was later "revealed" in an April Fool's comic... and then _actually added to the game._
The "1-1-1... Uh, 1!" thing in Meet the Spy is a reference to how, for a large chunk of the Cold War, the launch codes for the US Army's nuclear weapons was, "0-0-0-0-0". Just a string of zeroes. So, in theory, all one would've had to do to sabotage America's _entire nuclear arsenal_ would've been to go up to one of the computers and just type in a bunch of zeroes. As for the video itself: Spy cut the Sniper's cheek in the video; after it was released, the Sniper's default character model in-game was updated to have a scar there. And Spy is currently canonically sleeping with Scout's mom; yet despite being something of a womanizer, Spy has genuinely fallen in love with her. The entire "Meet the Spy" video was actually leaked on RUclips a few days before it was supposed to go up; the story goes that Valve forgot to make sure the video was private, and by the time they realized what happened, it was too late. Valve took it fairly well actually, even giving themselves a mock achievement, "Failure to understand what "Private" means". And yeah, Spy (along with Sniper and Pyro) is one of the most popular classes amongst new players. The sight of around 3-5 Spies all perpetually waiting to respawn was such a common sight that the TF2 community came up with the word "Shpee" to describe new Spies (The word coming from an OG TF2 RUclipsr, Jerma985). It's died down somewhat, but it's still seen every now and again, and I always smile when I see it, despite myself.
