Meet the Heavy was originally a tech demo to showcase the improved facial expressions of the Source engine. That’s why it’s it’s just him sitting in a room talking and has that random cut to him laughing in the middle of his monologue. The bobble head the sniper has on his dash is the Civilian from Team Fortress Classic. One of the game modes had 3 teams, one made of snipers, one made of other classes, and the lone civilian. The objective was for the Civilian to reach the goal, with the snipers trying to kill him, and everyone else trying to escort him.
I remember Kyle watching this the first time, now he already knows more about TF2 and him seeing it all again is just so fun For example when Heavy says "It cost 400,000$ ..." you can see on his face the same grin most TF2'ers would have.
Well that quote is actually what started all of this! I was live streaming a game called vigor with my cousin and someone referenced that line and I said it out loud and my cousin understood it. I had no idea and they told me about meet the team. I needed an extra video to record so I reacted to meet the team and I ALMOST DIDNT UPLOAD IT! I didn’t think it would’ve been enjoyable for people and people wouldn’t watch it. I said what the heck and uploaded it anyway and it’s my most popular video and tf2 has forever changed my life.
hearing him teach another person who's out of the loop the mechanics and culture of TF2 on camera just gives me a proudful tear through the eye. At the end of the video we can see Medic performing the operation on the seven other Mercs as well - and judging by the fact that he too gets it ingame it is safe to assume that he performed it on himself too.

I believe that TF2 actually was the first multiplayer game I ever played that had voice chat. I earned my clantag on Steam from repeatedly joining a 2Fort server run by a single clan. That was over a decade ago, and I still use the clantag on Steam.
Facts about TF2: Scout - From Brooklyn, competed a lot due to having many brothers. Believed a celebrity singer was his dad (I forgot which one). Confirmed that his face was modeled after a streamer (Jerma) Heavy - Protects his family and sends money to them. They're in hiding (His dad was a political dissident in Russia) and helped his family escape from the Gulags. Actually smart, I think he has a degree in Russian Literature. Sniper - From Australia but is not buff or bearded, actually from New Zealand. His origin is superman-esque. Engineer - His dad was the engineer from the original team fortress. The machines were originally his dad's designs. Pyro - If without purpose, is actually capable of running a multi-million dollar company. Clinically insane... Demoman - Lives with his grandma, his eye is cursed so that while his body can be fixed with medic's beam the eye cannot, and has drank so much alcohol it has become an actual necessity to keep him alive. Has had his memory erased several times as requested to the medic. Soldier - Insane... Just...Insane... Guy signed up for WW2 but was rejected so he went to Europe on his own to fight the Germans, in 1950-60s... While he does praise American stuff, he fell in love with Heavy's sister, and ironically uses a Russian Styled RPG Spy - Served french intelligence, canon dad of scout, is actually afraid of coming back because he doesn't know what to do. All his teeth are fake, one is filled with a tiny french dinner, and another is laced with cyanide. Medic - Has made a deal with the devil to claim his soul but has seven hearts... All of this is taking place in the 1960'S but is so advanced because of a unique metal called Australium (From australia) that makes people stronger, younger and beardier. Australia had this and was advanced, but because the depletion of Australium you got normal australia instead. Mann.Co is the only one left who has Australium, and that's why the mercs have such advanced gear.

I also battle-medic, but only when my patient got caught out and I need to get back to my team. Backpeddle and spam syringes. With the blütsauger, you also heal as you do so.
I just want to say, thanks for using the version (mostly) based on release order, instead of based on class order. The jump in quality between the first 6 and the last 3 is massive, and putting Pyro third really messes with a lot of people's expectations when they do Meet Them All reactions.

You know, outside of Expiration date, i think the only other *really good* TF2 video that could be watched together would be Team Neighborhood, mainly because of how batshit insane that series was. Engineer is very much the genesis of not just Torbjorn, but all turret heroes in OW. He has teleporters like Symmetra, he can repair his creations by pounding on them, and at level 3 his turret is as powerful if not more so than Bastion. He even has creations and abilities OW heroes cannot replicate, such as his healing and ammo replenishing dispenser and the ability to pickup and carry his creations to a new location.

Yes, his mom. Joking aside, the Meet the Team vids are great for teaching new players about basic principles of playing certain classes. Heavy : Be on the front line, be loud, shoot gun. Sniper : Have the high ground, get headshots, be efficient. Engineer : that's the exception. Don't just build sentries. Give the other buildings some love too. Scout : You're fast, use that. Be a deadly annoyance. Demoman : Destroy Engineer buildings, make people go boom, set up sticky traps to make people go boom. Soldier : Switch weapons. Rockets for long range, shotgun for mid range, and shovel for melee. Also rocket jumping is a thing. Spy : Backstab peeps, which is possible even if you've been found out, sap Engineer buildings, and disguise to blend in, but most importantly, *ACTING.* Disguises don't fool anyone if you don't act like the class you're disguised as. Medic : heal people, and use the Über early to *prevent* damage. Pyro : Burn everything.

But given that according to the Lore revealed in the _Two Cities_ update for Mann vs Machine (the PvE mdoe of TF2, the war against Gray Mann's robotic armies), Medic is the descendant of a long line of "Mad Doctors, Crazed Scientist, and Warlocks" from the quaint German town of Rottenburg (which actually exists IRL, just 12 km away from Tübingen and 60km from Frankfurt a.M.), that's understandable and he's really well-adapted by comparison. His ancestors are basically Dr. Frankenstein and evil wizards, all turned crazed geniuses by the town's deposits of the quasi-magical metal of Australium -- the metal that also turned all of TF2 universes Australians into bearded muscled beer-driving crazed morons who fight all the time, and New Zealanders into insane scientists who put a dome over NZ and plunged the islands to the bottom of the ocean, basically Atlantis mixed with Krypton because the head scientist send baby Sniper out in a rocket, it broke the dome and most of them drowned. And it's also the most coveted metal on TF2 Earth. It also turned the BLU Engineer Dell Connagher's grandfather, Radigan Connagher, from a smart engineer into a genius inventor (with a magnificent beard, but Radigan seems to have stayed sane, oddly enough... maybe his obsession was something else that got "enhanced") who worked for the evil Administrator (She Who Is Scheming Behind the Scenes... for well over 120 years now!) and build life-extender machines for both Blutarch & Redmond Mann, the two twin brothers who own BLU and RED team and Mann Corp. So that the "Gravel War" the TF2 mercs are fighting will be an endless eternal stalemate, while the Admin siphons away Mann Co's money and also collects blood and the bodies of the fallen mercenaries for her purposes... yes, she is probably a witch, too. Don'r worry, Dell Connagher built the Respawn, so the TF2 mercs actually respawn in new bodies, sorta-kinda immortal... until the Gravel War ended quite unexpectedly after all, and the Robot War began and the Admin had to flee with all the Australium in Mann Co's vault. Other, older mercenary team who worked for her were not so lucky... although the Team Fortress Classic mercs (the original BLU team) were still around by the time of the TF2 timeline (1967-73), crusty evil old buggers.... and one crusty evil old woman (TFC Pyro). Unfortunately they made the mistake of taking the TF2 Medic into their ranks to replace their own dead Medic. That didnt go well for them...
Ever since the Meet The Spy vid came out, if you recall the scene where the Spy cuts the Sniper's face, the Sniper's model in the game still has the scar on his cheek from that.

Heavy - Protects his family and sends money to them. They're in hiding (His dad was a political dissident in Russia) and helped his family escape from the Gulags. Actually smart, I think he has a degree in Russian Literature.
Sniper - From Australia but is not buff or bearded, actually from New Zealand. His origin is superman-esque.
Engineer - His dad was the engineer from the original team fortress. The machines were originally his dad's designs.
Pyro - If without purpose, is actually capable of running a multi-million dollar company. Clinically insane...
Demoman - Lives with his grandma, his eye is cursed so that while his body can be fixed with medic's beam the eye cannot, and has drank so much alcohol it has become an actual necessity to keep him alive. Has had his memory erased several times as requested to the medic.
Soldier - Insane... Just...Insane... Guy signed up for WW2 but was rejected so he went to Europe on his own to fight the Germans, in 1950-60s... While he does praise American stuff, he fell in love with Heavy's sister, and ironically uses a Russian Styled RPG
Spy - Served french intelligence, canon dad of scout, is actually afraid of coming back because he doesn't know what to do. All his teeth are fake, one is filled with a tiny french dinner, and another is laced with cyanide.
Medic - Has made a deal with the devil to claim his soul but has seven hearts...
All of this is taking place in the 1960'S but is so advanced because of a unique metal called Australium (From australia) that makes people stronger, younger and beardier. Australia had this and was advanced, but because the depletion of Australium you got normal australia instead. Mann.Co is the only one left who has Australium, and that's why the mercs have such advanced gear.

Fun fact I don't know if you know this already if you watch me the spy you notice that the scout pretend that he cut his finger with the blunt side of the knife which implies that he knows more about butterfly knives than what is displayed so if you knew this you would have noticed that and known the reveal before it happened
One curious data I learnt watching this videos. Because of the last scene of the medic, when the scout dies by explosions there's a small chance that the medic's pidgeon gets out of the remains.

I just want to say, thanks for using the version (mostly) based on release order, instead of based on class order. The jump in quality between the first 6 and the last 3 is massive, and putting Pyro third really messes with a lot of people's expectations when they do Meet Them All reactions.

Engineer is very much the genesis of not just Torbjorn, but all turret heroes in OW. He has teleporters like Symmetra, he can repair his creations by pounding on them, and at level 3 his turret is as powerful if not more so than Bastion.
He even has creations and abilities OW heroes cannot replicate, such as his healing and ammo replenishing dispenser and the ability to pickup and carry his creations to a new location.

Joking aside, the Meet the Team vids are great for teaching new players about basic principles of playing certain classes.
Heavy : Be on the front line, be loud, shoot gun.
Sniper : Have the high ground, get headshots, be efficient.
Engineer : that's the exception. Don't just build sentries. Give the other buildings some love too.
Scout : You're fast, use that. Be a deadly annoyance.
Demoman : Destroy Engineer buildings, make people go boom, set up sticky traps to make people go boom.
Soldier : Switch weapons. Rockets for long range, shotgun for mid range, and shovel for melee. Also rocket jumping is a thing.
Spy : Backstab peeps, which is possible even if you've been found out, sap Engineer buildings, and disguise to blend in, but most importantly, *ACTING.* Disguises don't fool anyone if you don't act like the class you're disguised as.
Medic : heal people, and use the Über early to *prevent* damage.
Pyro : Burn everything.
The Engineer canonically has 11 PhDs, the Heavy was revealed to have a degree in Russian literature (in a crossover where he appeared in the _Poker Night at the Inventory_ games and you could unlock a special minigun in TF2 by beating him in Poker), and the Medic did once have a medical license but as he said he lost it (as in, it was taken away, probably with some force). Ah yes, and cnaonically Medic long ago sold his soul to the literal Devil (as seen in the TF2 comic when Medic _does_ get fatally shot by the Team Fortress Classic Heavy, the Devil wants to collect, but Medic tricks him into sending him back, alive, and with 50 more years of life on top). But given that according to the Lore revealed in the _Two Cities_ update for Mann vs Machine (the PvE mdoe of TF2, the war against Gray Mann's robotic armies), Medic is the descendant of a long line of "Mad Doctors, Crazed Scientist, and Warlocks" from the quaint German town of Rottenburg (which actually exists IRL, just 12 km away from Tübingen and 60km from Frankfurt a.M.), that's understandable and he's really well-adapted by comparison.
His ancestors are basically Dr. Frankenstein and evil wizards, all turned crazed geniuses by the town's deposits of the quasi-magical metal of Australium -- the metal that also turned all of TF2 universes Australians into bearded muscled beer-driving crazed morons who fight all the time, and New Zealanders into insane scientists who put a dome over NZ and plunged the islands to the bottom of the ocean, basically Atlantis mixed with Krypton because the head scientist send baby Sniper out in a rocket, it broke the dome and most of them drowned. And it's also the most coveted metal on TF2 Earth. It also turned the BLU Engineer Dell Connagher's grandfather, Radigan Connagher, from a smart engineer into a genius inventor (with a magnificent beard, but Radigan seems to have stayed sane, oddly enough... maybe his obsession was something else that got "enhanced") who worked for the evil Administrator (She Who Is Scheming Behind the Scenes... for well over 120 years now!) and build life-extender machines for both Blutarch & Redmond Mann, the two twin brothers who own BLU and RED team and Mann Corp. So that the "Gravel War" the TF2 mercs are fighting will be an endless eternal stalemate, while the Admin siphons away Mann Co's money and also collects blood and the bodies of the fallen mercenaries for her purposes... yes, she is probably a witch, too. Don'r worry, Dell Connagher built the Respawn, so the TF2 mercs actually respawn in new bodies, sorta-kinda immortal... until the Gravel War ended quite unexpectedly after all, and the Robot War began and the Admin had to flee with all the Australium in Mann Co's vault.
Other, older mercenary team who worked for her were not so lucky... although the Team Fortress Classic mercs (the original BLU team) were still around by the time of the TF2 timeline (1967-73), crusty evil old buggers.... and one crusty evil old woman (TFC Pyro). Unfortunately they made the mistake of taking the TF2 Medic into their ranks to replace their own dead Medic. That didnt go well for them...
