Great tips man, have my first MMI in 20 days and I have to say I'm pretty nervous about it. I've been to 3 med school interviews thus far and haven't really been nervous for any of them but the whole range of questions that could be thrown at you by MMI scenarios seems daunting.

Why are all MMI’s 8mins long? I feel sometimes it might just be too long and what if you run out of the basic rapport sentences? Certainly, we can’t compensate the rapport conversation with diagnosis as we are not experienced in that particular field. Any suggestions?

It's not always 8 minutes of just talking. For some schools, it could be 5 or 6 minutes. But regardless, it will certainly feel like a long time if you're not prepared.

I would also add that at most MMI's (I would imagine the vast majority, but I don't have survey data on that), someone will be holding a clipboard and ask you follow-up questions to keep the conversation rolling. So you probably won't be solely responsible for moving the conversation along.

I had BSMS last month. It was 54 minutes long, 5 stations and each of them was 10 minutes long

hello, i would like to ask whether it is necessary for us to show the interviewer our understanding to the scenario appeared in the question during the beginning of the interview?

Hi Kin Wu, the strategy of reviewing the scenario with the interviewer works really well in other MMI stations (ethics questions, "what would you do if" kinds of questions), but not really here. Usually, the actor won't let you talk directly to the person grading the scenario, and if you talk to the actor, that person will respond in character. As a result, you will need to show your understanding of the scenario through your interactions with the actor.
