This fandom is so expensive but totally worth it lol. I set a budget for Furlandia but I still maxed out my credit lol. But it's now nearly paid off. I'm down to owing $23 bucks on it now lol. And I loved meeting you at WFS!!!
Great explanations! Banks will tell you otherwise. I remember getting the ‘advice’ to not pay the full amount each month and thinking to myself: “I know how math works. That is a terrible idea.” Always pay it off. As you said, use credit like cash/debit. If you don’t have the funds, don’t spend the money.
Credit cards are super simple if you’re financially responsible. My first was also the Discover card when I was 18 two years ago and it helped build my good credit
Finn this video is absolutely amazing!! As someone who just recently got a second credit card, this video was amazing and is the perfect watch for someone without any credit history!
I’m so bad at money since my impulsive nature…I’ll have to educate myself more on this. Very helpful since was talking to someone at FWA about that too coincidentally. Thanks for sharing!
Bank worker here. I'll never understand bankers that tell people to not pay off a credit card on time. They're scamming people and often the banker that told someone this doesn't even get anything from it. When you pay it back as expected you don't pay anything extra, only how much you've spent. I always tell people to pay it back on time, because that's kind of the point of a credit card
Hi Finn thanks for this useful information about credit card and debit cards I didn’t know they were so different from each other so thanks for helping me out with this
I was skeptical about getting a credit card but my husband helped me understand it . Today I mostly use it to fill gas in my car and every 1st of the month I make sure to pay off the credit card. As for budgeting at cons… I do a envelope method for the dealers/ artist ally I divided up my set budget by 3 and each con day is my set budget for the dealers. What I have left over I add to the next Envelope .
Awesome. I have a couple of them cards. A card from a company called Comenity and one from Capital. Nor sure what you think of these banks. Anyways, great video on this subject.
*My family listening in the background that I'm watching a video about "credit cards" and saying "oh wow, you're looking to learn good things! let me see" *Me seeing a huge fluffy panther on a couch talking about economics: -NO THIS IS IT IMPORTANT I MUST SEE IT JUST TO BE CONCENTRATED! 💢💢💢
Wait I have a question? I know you mentioned about credit cards being the best feature for purchases but what about like debit cards? Can debit cards be ok to use for purchasing something at a furry convention like for example let’s say I buy a commission art with a debit card or something like that would that be ok? I had this question after I watched this video
Debit cards work perfectly fine for any purchase that takes cards! The only place where credit cards are preferred over debit is when paying for hotel rooms at conventions but other than that they are interchangeable
But what about tax evasion? I thought that was the furrys' main technique of getting extra money, will it appear in some other video? Will it be part of a new mini video series? c:
You do realize that rewards don't come out of thin air, but they come from all the interest and fees that other credit card users are paying? Your rewards come from other people's misery. Not to mention the sellers/dealers also have to pay a hefty fee for the priviledge of accepting your cards.
For flights I either use my three Chase cards, the Freedom Unlimited, Freedom Flex, and Sapphire Preferred, or my three American Express cards to pool all of the points together to transfer over. I fly Delta a lot of AMEX helps with that but I also fly Southwest a decent amount I use my Chase points for them
I use a American Airlines AAvantage Platinum Select Citi card as I tend to fly on American for US domestic flights, though I am shifting towards Southwest Airlines. That card gets me 1 free checked bag and boarding group 5 status on American flights. I also earn miles from credit card purchases and I on can use them on flights on American or their One World partners. I recently used my miles to fly to the UK for Confuzzled on British Airways, though BA and the British government charge a lot in fees. I had to pay $800 on top of 80K reward miles for round-trip premium economy seats
i just got my card and after that information on the credit card i am not buying anything since i don't have a job or get my video monitized but won't happend cuz nobody watches my video so im stuck im doomed from the start. so i will not buy anything :|
I think they're quite common here in the US, too. Everyone I know has at least one credit card and the only folks I know who regularly use cash or checks are elderly (age 70+). Even small businesses have credit card readers and will offer those first when it's time for payment. I took this video to be aimed at younger (American) furries who might be less familiar with credit cards, but it may vary by region.
I couldn't disagree more. Part of managing finances is knowing how to use a credit card responsibly. But if that's not something you personally want to engage with, that's fine!
People are in *DEBT.* The fandom is much much more than fursuits and cons. It's sad to see new furs pushing the idea that the fandom is all about money.
"the Furry fandom is just a collection of humans" love it 😂❤
It's true!
@@FinnThePanther hahaha I know x3
@@FinnThePanther I don't use credit cards, but I'll try to save the money for the furry conventions that I'm planning on going to.
Oh this is massive, I love that you're making this style of content, financial literacy and related life lessons is super important for the fandom!
We need t shirts that say "let me explain"
I'll keep that in mind for future projects 👀
I never thought a furry would be teaching me about credit cards, yet here we are
Thank you Finn

Bying everything at dealer's den using cashback is such a genius move! I will definitely have to implement this once I will go to a con.
I was truly taken by surprise by how smart that idea was

this was actually a really solid explanation, furry or not! You should do one on high yield savings accounts next if you continue this series
It's on the list!

Ay new video. Nice and suprise to see you at bowling last Saturday.
Debit cards are different in that they take money right out of your bank account. So if that's working for you, then I'd stick with it!

Great video! You explained credit cards better than my parents lol :3
@FinnThePanther I was looking at flights for MFF out of seatac, delta has a great price right now for it. Just booked mine $97 return.
This is super useful, i wanna give a big thank you!
I’m actually considering getting an apple credit card when I’m finally moved to Texas.💳

The best credit card is the one that also gets you into Costco 😎
An essential for sure!
