@SFGIANTS18 DONTPANIC12 Dude it's their opinion. Chill. I loved this movie too. I acknowledge it's issues but still really liked it. It's fine though if you don't. Just don't try to hate on our opinion because of it.
I agree with you 100%. Thought "Halloween" 2018 was a fun enough slasher, but pretty pedestrian in the grand scheme of things. Jamie Lee's return was the only legitimate highlight. I had low expectations so I wasn't terribly disappointed though. "Suspiria" is my most-anticipated film this year and my instincts tell me it's the better film by miles. I am seeing it on Halloween night and can't wait.
I had a similar reaction once the end credits started to role and I really wanted to like this film. I’m a fan of the original and John Carpenter is one of my favorite directors but this missed the mark for me though I’m glad I saw it. I did like the little kid who was being babysat. His relationship with the sitter seemed organic to me and yes... the iconic mask was well done. Thanks for another well done review.
Was going to check it out this weekend but have seen quite a few reviews calling it bland. Nothing to get excited about. Favorite slasher film killer is the maniac in the 1974 Black Christmas film.
So far most reviewers and fans hate the new Halloween. And from what I hear about it I am not surprised. This franchise just keeps getting worse and worse and worse with h20, robs films and now this new one. And jamie lee Curtis looks old as hell and must be supernatural like Myers as she keeps getting killed and coming back lol
@@robertpreston2220 I actually went and saw the film this weekend. Not very good, it's not terrible but it's not good. Plot is a bit of a mess and the Jamie Lee Curtis as rugged survivalist was ridiculous and unnecessary. They actually should have never brought her back and let the movie stand on its own. There were good moments but some really stupid things happen in the film.
Man I agree with you on everything you said that stuck out as sucking. I just see it about 4 hours ago. I was not impressed at all. From 1-10 I’d give it a 6. Halloween II (1981) was better. I didn’t like the psychiatrist. He was completely unneeded, his character was weak and poorly executed. I didn’t like that the little kids kept using the F bomb. Very unclassy. Then Laurie called Michael “The Shape” when he was never referred to as that in the movies. At least the original two. The cops taking about the Vietnamese sandwiches was stupid and threw me off. There was some forced humor that I didn’t see as funny (neither did the packed theater that I saw it at). When people got up to leave, most everyone was like “WTF? That’s it??” Sorry Blumhouse, But the movie was not very good IMHO.

Roberto Hernandez There’s just no need to make any Halloween sequels. 99.8% of movies anymore are made up of callbacks, nods, winks, and Easter eggs. All cheap stunts and gags instead of coming up with something new or interesting.
@@robertpreston2220 But how? That honestly makes no sense. It has a fresh on Rotten Tomatoes from both Audiences and Critics as well as a 7.4 on IMDB and a 67 Metacritic Score. I don't think you know what hate means because based on those things audiences and critics don't hate it.
This movie was alright. I agree if this movie wasn't called Halloween, I would not have liked it as much. I watched the original before the 2018 version and was instantly gripped by the cinematography and excellent score.
I'm 49 so I was 8 when I saw Halloween...changed my life. And I have to diss agree..this movie completely lived up to the original in every way..so I disagree with all your negatives. A movie doesn't have to have a cultural impact to be good or even great...Some say this was a decent but standard horror movie that hits all the common tropes..Well people forget those work for this sequel because the original Halloween is the one that started most if those tropes. Also..I personally enjoyed most of the previous sequels...
Yes the doctor "twist" also kinda took me out of the movie for a minute, but the Pros outweighed the Cons for me. Michael Myers himself overall was better than past movies. The score was DEFINITELY better as well.
Maybe we shouldn’t remake or sequelize classics & instead just make original content or at the worst remake bad movies with interesting concepts. I fear the day they remake movies like The Godfather, Goodfellas, or Casablanca
I recently saw the original in the cinema. I was impressed. It's very well made and I noticed lots of new things (in the corners of the screen). During the final act the audience was laughing constantly (and so was I). Apparently the things that used to be scary have become a bit silly (the glasses, the revelation of the dead friends, the knitting needle, the dropping of the knive, the neighbours ignoring Laurie, etc.). It was a fun experience. Everybody had a great time. On Halloween I will be watching The Exorcist in the cinema. Let's see if that MF still holds up... ;) P.S. The Thing is John Carpenter's masterpiece & Halloween is his greatest success. We can argue about the rest.
+Janfrans Zuidema Well, Hi there howdie! I saw that Exorcist. I kinda felt emotional and pumped up. It wasn't a horror. It was a tragedy. It was brilliant.
Great points. I loved Halloween. I love Freddy Kruger and Jason. But it is done. A great horror movie was "It Follows." They could make 100 sequels to it. But I like that they haven't. One rule of being an entertainer is to leave the audience wanting more. This is why Breaking Bad was so good. They diminish Halloween, with every regurgitation. Be a pal and check out my tiny channel.
I personally liked the movie it was worth the wait. The references to all the movies in this movie is awesome. The ending leaves you with the chance of "Is he alive or is he not".
I really hope you are gonna do a review on the haunting of hill house, excellent series on Netflix I beleive this is what Castle Rock wanted and should have did the storytelling was phenomenal I highly recommend everyone watches it.
This movie is definitely for Michael Myers fans...It's ok but I expected more from it...Jamie Lee Curtis and soundtrack are great...the beginning is good...the ending is flat...4/6...
Agreed! A very weak and disappointing movie. I had high hopes, but they were dashed in that scene that you mentioned with Michael's psychiatrist. Utterly ridiculous.
Can you tell me what F13 is better than this new Halloween? Jason in Manhattan, Jason in space, Horshack bringing Jason back, body jumping Jason, Jason living at the bottom of a lake until he is “brought back from the dead” again! F13 originally ripped off Halloween but it didn’t stop there, cuz these “creators have never had an original thought, it goes on to rip off Psycho, Carrie, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Star Wars! Again this new film is light years better than all 332 F13 films combined!!
The Halloween sequels didn’t break any new ground but F13 did? I’m a huge horror fan but consider all F13 movies unwatchable. The people making those definitely think people who like horror are brain dead, that’s why Jason coming back from the dead in so many laughable ways. The new Halloween has more good actors in it then all of the 67 F13 movies combined! This new film is the 2nd best in the series, Michael is brutal and scary again something Jason, Freddy, Chucky and Pinhead will NEVER be again cuz nobody with any talent has anything to do with those garbage series.
My third favorite movie this year after Mandy and Hereditary. I'll be seeing it again.
Ive seen it twice and I'll see it again. I guess I have serious issues.
I must be crazy then because I can’t wait to own this movie!

What about Overlord? Any word on that?
(agree with this review)
Excellent review!! My sentiments exactly
What would you like to have seen instead. What would you have done differently? Just curious.
7/10 for me. The ending was horrible. Halloween II remains the true sequel imo.

The movie is solid, well worth going to see it, I never worry about “reviews” it’s just somebody else’s opinion, see it and make your own
