I heard they developed a new fuel mixture/compound that boosts the power up by over 100hp and that they opted not to use it. I wish they did though, then they'd be scary quick.
Royal Stygian I tried to looking for the article I read where this was mentioned but I couldn't find it. I remember hearing that little to no modifications to the current engines would be needed to run the new fuel and gain that extra 100-130hp.
I'm noticing a lot of F1 design cues on these new 2018 Indy Cars... Especially on the shape of the Rear Wing and how low the car is... Looks really good... I think I'll follow both Indy and F1 this year
Wow, every time I see these cars I think how good looking they are and remind me a bit of that late 90s cars with Zanardi, Vasser, Tracy, etc. I know several people that no longer watch Indycar because they got so damn ugly, but I think the looks of these cars and the goal of having closer racing with more driver involvement is going to do the sport a lot of good. F1 needs to take notice on what the fans want because parade laps suck.
hawkinsrod The problem with F1is that there are so many fans wanting so many different things. There are those who think F1 should get simpler to get more teams involved and have better racing, those who think the regs should get more open(like the freedom LMP1s have in engine and drivetrain regs), of course those who think it's fine as it is etc. It's almost impossible to please a certain majority let alone everyone because like I said, the fanbase is just so divided.
Ahh Sebring what a fun track,I have always been a fan of Burke Lake Front,Ohio Indy car tracks, years of watching Indy on TV...the openness of the airport I love Sebring, and was told by some sport car vets that used to be an small airport,Burke was better for fast corners used could see almost the whole corner...Sebring is just a flat out super fun layout, bumps corners of all speed and designs a real work out for driver and car its no wonder they use it for testing, but more fun great track design to whom ever did it,probably the best next to Monaco,as the real drivers choice...
LOL.. @ 4:29, Can't show the Veach paint scheme, but it is already on another YT channel. @ 8:19, Looks like Zach Claman DeMelo is still in the running for that 2nd seat at Coyne
I'm guessing Marshall is joking about the clear livery? Unless he means clear coated carbon or something like that. That would be insane if you could see the drivers feet and pedals.
I'm huge F1 fan but this year's Indycar look so beautiful. Glad that they bring back the old gorgeous Indycar looks instead of open-wheeled LMP1 wannabe.
Veach’s car has already been leaked, greenlight has shared photos of the diecast and also there are fan videos from yesterday’s test showing his car, not too much of a secret, it’s out there lol
In my point of view, Indycar oficials should try to start the championship earlier. Like in the IRL era, why not to start the season with a couple of races in january and february? I think most of the fans would apreciate.
Looks like the car needs a revamped undertray, to get more chassis grip, a larger and higher rear wing and probably a shark fin. Dallara has not yet fixed the aerodynamic grip of their chassis. Indy can be quite faster, and way better than F1, but on a budget, if Dallara gets their shit together in the aerodynamic side. I cannot comment on the front wing, seems like it is working as it should. The mechanical grip of the Indy cars are already amazing, due to great suspension and really grippy and durable tyres. This will be one great season for Indy, no doubt. Dallara, can you guys please work on the Aero part? Indy needs it, to be the Top Dog for once!
finally very nice cars ! come on Indycar put more international races now !! Mexico Brazil Australia , Middle east .. Europe at least one anywhere in europe !!
The cars bodywork is pretty cool this year (at the expense of stability?), but they still need more variety in chassis and engine supplier. Ford and Toyota get in there! Also open the sound up a bit/exhaust like formula one has, the cars are too muffled from the turbo.
hawkinsrod They're not "extremely quiet" - Compared to a NA V8 they are obviously, but with the introduction of the wastegate they are a lot better than 2014. When was the last time you watched and/or went to a grand Prix? Having said that, this video isn't a good gauge of what the indycars sound like. They sound good too, I'm a Canadian open wheel fan and have experienced both.
Jraybay COTA 2018. They are too damn quiet. That’s one of the biggest complaints from all the fans, not just me. That’s why Liberty Media is addressing it.
its been an engineering championship more then a drivers championship since day 1. modern day f1 fans need to take off their rose tinted glasses. its always been about who builds the best car
I think the regs should be more open. The cars are technological marvels but the regulations just force them to be generic in my opinion. The engine regs in 2014 were actually an improvement I'd say because FIA had frozen the development of the NA V8s in the name of cost cutting(which I'm not sure as to whether or not it has ever worked in motorsports). Yeah, the sound got much worse maybe but at least it got exciting again from an engineering point of view. Aero though was the opposite. V8s had some really cool aero ideas such as the blown diffuser, the F-Duct(which to be fair sort of came back in the form of DRS), those spaceship chassis they had before 2009 but they all got banned for some reason and as a result the cars just became generic and unexciting in my opinion. 2017 regs tried to rectify that but again, they're now banning the shark fins for some reason(and I actually don't like how they look).
I have to disagree on the shark fins. I think they are hideous, but to each his or her own. Actually, I'm surprised they are taking them away because they were a great advertising platform. So, I'm happy the fins are gone, but sad to see the cockpit roll bars. Not that I'm not concerned for their safety. For the last few weeks I've been watching the CART championship on YT in chronological order from 1995 to 2000. Man, they were so much different back then. A quick shout out and thank you to the uploader -- asopher1!! A Tire war between Firestone and Goodyear, different chassis from Lola, Swift, Penske and Reynard, Ford, Mercedes, Toyota, Honda and Alfa Romeo engines... There were a lot more dynamics involved that made it very exciting. However, they were pushing the engines and chassis so far to the limit there was a ridiculous amount of attrition. It was still exciting, nonetheless. Anyway, I'm really looking forward for the 2018 racing season. I love all sorts of racing, but F1 is my racing delicacy even though most of the time Champ car races are much more exciting. I think it's that hunt for a really close race that keeps me coming back. I know, it doesn't make sense to many people, but that's how I feel. heh
Gubba Bump the attendance is growing which is good. We may never get back to 1995 levels of attendance outside of the Indy 500 but any gain is good. All motor sports are losing viewers while Indy is gaining. Also the ratings have been up which is good. If old fans knew what they were missing they would all be fans once again. This car reminds me of everything I loved about cart

Car looks great. Now it needs more RPM. Stay safe this year Sebastien.
I heard they developed a new fuel mixture/compound that boosts the power up by over 100hp and that they opted not to use it. I wish they did though, then they'd be scary quick.
Where did you hear this?
DCTib
You mean needs more JPM...
Why isn't he testing the new car for Penske???
Royal Stygian

Cool! Very excited for the season to start. The cars look fantastic
Lots of young American drivers in IndyCar this year, should be fun watching all of them.
Been waiting for this one, thanks for the upload.
I miss Nelson Piquet JR on the Carlin entry...Why the same combo of drivers as Ganassi?
I'm noticing a lot of F1 design cues on these new 2018 Indy Cars... Especially on the shape of the Rear Wing and how low the car is... Looks really good... I think I'll follow both Indy and F1 this year
Every car in this video looks awesome. :D
tommythetreat000 F1 has always been a very engineering focused series. That's why different teams have periods of massive success.
Are there any rumors on racing in Sebring in near future?
Go full screen and stop the video at about the two minute mark. That is a great view!

Hasan Özuğurlu and the fia doesn't give a damn what the fans think

Bourdais is great, more Bourdais
Car is beautiful.

DOSE THIS MEAN WE GET A RACE AT SEBRING SOMETIME SOON????!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!😎
I want Kubica in Indy!
I'm huge F1 fan but this year's Indycar look so beautiful. Glad that they bring back the old gorgeous Indycar looks instead of open-wheeled LMP1 wannabe.
Indy cars actually look nice this year
The cars are so beautyful.
the new INDYCAR car very stylish

mbas0507 Brazil is to dangerous and the Middle East we can do without. I like the Mexico, Europe and even Asia idea.

Alfa Romeo has been in talks with IndyCar. Think I'm kidding? Look it up. I can't wait for something like that to happen.
Beautiful, but bring back the V-8
Esse carro novo é lindo que asas.
Sad F1 has become an engineering race than a driver race... so looking forward to Indy care more than F1 this year....

Jediberri agree but something missing since 2014

Hasan Özuğurlu Good comment yes. I also liked the shark fins, they made the cars look mean

Indy car died in 1995.
To see this new car the will some how save Indy car. Or, I could just wait to watch them on MSN Sports 8, right after ping pong and celebrity bowling.
growing attendance? ok that might be true. But still less than 1/4 of what it was in '95.

1/4 was too generous
Zach Veach is by far the worst driver in INDYCAR
