I came here as a healthcare professional working with patients in pain. I left as a patient with tears in my eyes thinking about my own pain, adding to my life and making myself "bigger." Thank you so much for this, I'll definitely be sharing it with my fellow persistent pain warriors.
I have chronic eczema that is severe. Some days it’s better so sometimes it’s hard to accept when im having a flare and down under for a long while finding it hard to recover. Thanks for articulating the struggle and teaching me to add to my life and not beat myself up for not managing the condition well and being so desperate to get back to normal that I add to my suffering
I'm a pain management doc. This is the the very, very best explanation of ACT I have ever encountered!! I intend to share this with my chronic pain patients. Thanks, Dr. Pincus, for your brilliant video!! 😊👍
Thank you for creating this. I have watched it several times and find it helpful in communicating when working with individuals struggling with persistent pain.
So beautiful! A fast way to say how the pain changes you and how you have to fight everyday to be you again! Or just a reminder to you that your excruciating pain is not gonna go anywhere and that sometimes even though the pain is bigger of yourself you still there, one is a part of the other. And in the process you learning that you are nothing like you were before, but still is...Is a different person, a resilient one, that fights everyday to be a bigger and brighter yourself!
Brilliant! This succint representation not only explains the struggles with initially trying to eliminate pain, but also provides hope, and a road map for a more comfortable life journey. Thank you
this has been so helpful to me in helping my loved ones understand how my RSD/CRPS pain truly affects me! I've shared it with my Pain Support Group too they all agree that it's so true! thank you so much for all of your hard work!
Well done that is an amazing analogy. I love this video even though I’m not someone in extreme pain but I suppose it applies to any difficulties that are fairly steadfast.
Perhpas because when we lose our selves or what/how we see ourselves change because of pain and how it affects us on all facets of our lives. I suppose we remember and grieve for the past us and how we have changed. Certainly I am still stuck on the grieving stage but one day I will accept and I k ow that is when I will be me, bigger better me.
Every person is different and our diagnosis can be different as well. In my case I have cerebral palsy(CP)which affects mobility coordination and balance,we can also have muscle tightness/spasms. I also have arthritis and for me my chronic pain really hit when I was 14(25 now)luckily I have a good pain management plan with a pain clinic and I’m also very grateful to be ambulatory.

I've shown this to several of my patients who are living with chronic/persistent pain and they can connect with it and relate to it. Thank you, Tamar.

Truly wonderful visual representation of how to dilute the pain and make it less of you overall . Thank you.
Oh my...this made me cry, because it is so true.
Superb video - beautiful, concise and says so much in just a few minutes - bravo! Will definitely use this with my patients - thank you
This made me cry.
What a wonderful video. Thanks a lot Tamar for allowing us to apply German subtitles and use it for patient education 😀

I’m working on it! It’s not easy!
Why does this have me crying.

WOW! Amazing and very well explained! 👏🏻
Will definitely use this one!
This works. I don't know how it works; I don't know why it works. I am not even sure what is working. But it works!
I would love to use this for our Persistent Pain Program. It's a lovely way to explain it.
Thank you very much. Very didactic. A beautiful way to spread knowledge !
This is me thank you I'm not alone 😔
תותחית! כבוד גדול.
I'd like to translate the subtitles in french, but for some reason this option is not available. Could you open this video to translations ? Thanks !
Thank you....

Do you know what is causing the pain ?

Look, I am bigger! Beautiful.

What rubbish, I've tried for years to distract myself from the pain, but guess what...the pain is still there..
It’s about not making pain the only thing in your life and to take the focus away from the pain so that you can still have a good life
