Well said. There are so many different nuances to why exactly different songs and styles of music really do it for different people, but it can’t be denied that when you really feel something on that deep level, it becomes a core part of you. To me, that’s what’s the most powerful about your words here. The music you love becomes a part of your identity, and prejudice happens when we see others as just that - ‘other’, or ‘not my tribe’. Unity is only way out of division, and common ground - especially over something as profoundly lovable as a good song - is the remedy we need.

Brilliant speech D! I quite enjoy how I interpreted your talk as to just Experience music. I attend live music constantly because there is no other event like it. Sure genre/state of mind/band involvement/crowd acceptance can affect the experience, but nothing to me is as affecting as a live music gig.
Great speech once again! Hopefully you are asked back.🤞
    Cheers D!

I don't feel very empathetic since I started music appreciation, If anything I'm more angry and stressed out. It's not about the music its learning the history, styles, and characteristics of different genres of music. It alienates the music and creates a monotonous atmosphere found in your local high schools' ancient history class.

I think people who truly enjoy music, listen to it rather than think about it ... To truly listen and and appreciate music requires a tremendous amount of empathy and understanding. What you're taking about is something completely different ... history, characteristics -- "not the music" itself, like you say... Your statement is basically a contradiction. It's no wonder it makes you angry and stressed out.

I feel like I appreciate it, but I'm feeling more like a sociopath.
