Astounding by Rune. He had one of the most difficult draws probably in tennis history: Wawrinka, Hurkacz, Rublev, Alcaraz, Auger-Aliassime and finally Djokovic in the final. Not only FIVE top 10 players, but FOUR Master's 1000 winners, THREE GS champions, one of the all-time greats, and the hottest player on the planet in Auger-Aliassime who was on a 16 match unbeaten run with 3 back-to-back titles. I was quite sure he was going to choke at the end there, succumbing to the huge pressure trying to serve out the championship, and that we'd witness another Djokovic tiebreak win for the trophy but Rune somehow didn't fold. The kid is unreal.

Wouldnt quite put Rune as the favourite. Djokovic is the favourite, that being said hes not as heavy a favourite as he would be at other tournaments such as AO and Wimbledon. Will be interesting to see if FAA gets drawn into Djokovics RR group. If he does that makes things really interesting. Nadal wont be much of a contest sadly if he lands in Djokovics RR group. After going up a set and a break Nadals level dropped so badly. Really hope one day Nadal can capture Bercy and ATP finals but time is running out, and hes not always healthy enough to play those final 2 events of the season :(

Yup, didn't wanted to be rude to Nadal fans but it's actually better that he pulled out before start of the tournament as he might pull out after 1 or 2 matches anyways (and almost has 0% chance to win this title)..so that alternate player gets to play all 3 matches...and obviously rune in this form will be a much bigger threat to everyone then nadal and might win the tournament as well..
Time already ran out for Nadal to win these 2 tournaments I'm afraid ..

He is going to be 37 in french open next year and he is not fit fully , still struggling with injuries I think, Novak has a chance , but next year is his last year to try to win anything. That's my opinion. They don't have to prove anything anymore anyway. I wonder how many GS will Alcaraz win or other guys. I am pretty sure they won't break the records. And it will be nothing special if Rafa looses in french open being 37. If Alcaraz beats him let's say it won't be any achievement, he would never beat him in his prime so....

Similar to Federer forehand vs Nole in 2012 ATP Finals, althoug that one was more impressive i think

Can we all agree that Rune is the best of the new rising crop of stars! Better than, Alcatraz, Sinner. It's safe to say that the future of tennis is in good hands for the next generation.

Rune has earned my respect with his performances in the last two tournaments, he is playing some fantastical tennis right now!
Let's hope he leaves those other immature shenanigans behind...

At the net in the first round, Stan told Holger to 'quit acting like a baby on the court.' And it actually seems like Rune listened in a way, because they tweeted amicably after the match.

I love Novak with all my heart and soul....BUT that kid is demonstrating a mental,,physical and emotional prowess that is making Novak proud as evident when he claps for him at the awards ceremony......still though, he has to take on the other X factor kids...Alcaraz, Felix,,and the 2 outgoing legends, Nadal and Novak...wonderful few years of tennis ahead....excited !!!
