Wouldnt quite put Rune as the favourite. Djokovic is the favourite, that being said hes not as heavy a favourite as he would be at other tournaments such as AO and Wimbledon. Will be interesting to see if FAA gets drawn into Djokovics RR group. If he does that makes things really interesting. Nadal wont be much of a contest sadly if he lands in Djokovics RR group. Impressive victory for Rune. But I remember when Djokovic lost his first matches against very young Zverev and Tsistipas. It was around 2018. The comments were very similar back then: he is finished, new era has arrived., etc.. Then in 2021 he was a match away from winning a calendar grand slam. So don't write Djokovic off too early...
This ppl are a joke. Some younger won a match and they start saying "new GOAT" and stuff like that. When in reality Novak played awful today and gifted all the crucial points.
The so long expected downfall of djoko & Nadal has started & will become more steep in the near future. Federer who is a more talented, gifted player , 6 years senior to these 2 , retired when he was 41 years old & it looks these 2 will retire within 2 years from now ( around 37 years of age) as the latest new generation will start kicking their butts more regularly
@@devasundarchatpublicityas9472 am a fan of them both since 10 years but that's true unfortunately. Federer at 38 still played toe to toe with 32 year old Novak in 2019 Wimbledon final. I hope he is the real deal and wins more important tournaments. As for Djokovic, what a great gesture at the end on the way he congratulated the winner. Great played from both.
Me animo a pronosticar qué este jovencito ( Runer) va a dominar la escena del tenis mundial por varios años junto con Alcaraz y Sinner, y algunos más, los nuevos clásicos entre ellos han llegado, bienvenido!!👌🎾🎾
He is different than the other next gen players. He has the mental ability and fighting spirit. And he is far from a complete player. Watch out for this guy
Smart play and coaching by team Rune. I noticed some slow-spinning-looping balls in the second set which helped Rune win points. Djokovic had difficulty returning it with power as it rendered off rythem shots. Same ball shots/strokes Rafa is hitting everytime playing against Novak. Mouratoglou is a tactician as well.
What fighting spirit from Rune to comeback like that against Djokovic in his first Masters final! When Edberg presented Rune with the trophy, they looked like they could be father and son.
So nice to see Edberg. He has been so low profile since his retirement. Was a class act as a player. Grand Slam winner, world champion and former world No.1 - in both singles and doubles. Junior Grand Slam in 1983. No player has matched those impressive credentials yet. They don't make players like Stefan anymore.

Djokovic is the most consistent, complete, all round player of all time but there is always scope for improvement in his game. 1. He has to throw out the drop shots when they are not working. 2. His volleys let him down so often. Especially positioning. 3. His smash - less said the better!
Can we all agree that Rune is the best of the new rising crop of stars! Better than, Alcatraz, Sinner. It's safe to say that the future of tennis is in good hands for the next generation.

Another unbelievable young talent comes at the right time. Djokovic played solid but Rune was incredible this day. C'mon Rune.
What a year for teenage tennis. Swiatek, Alcaraz, rune, sinner, draper, nakashima. All present/ future world no. 1!!
Nakashima and Draper are good, but a long way from the others you mentioned in my opinion.
Nakashima and draper ?? Jajaja. The real deal in the future are: Alcaraz, Rune, Sinner, Musetti and maybe FAA. The rest are just good players
@@ignaciolance4629 Musetti is great but not at the same level as Alcaraz, Rune, Sinner and FAA
draper and nakashima i don't think are that caliber yet. swiatek alcaraz rune sinner and faa are at a diff level of success rn
@@monstermagnet3150 musetti has all the potencial and talent, but he has to make that "clic" in his head like alcaraz and rune did this year. It could happen any time, it cames from anything like we saw from rune or alcaraz, It is just a matter of time. Like any other talented players we saw in the past, it could happen or not but i think musetti will eventualy join that group and fight for big titles.
Heck of a tournament run, terrific match and exceptional win by Rune.
As I said in quarter-finals Rune look like Fearless. In this game he played like fearless. Insane game.
Insane dane
Rune's mental and physical strength edge says it all.
This one will go down as one of those classic generational matches like Agassi vs Federer. Feel very happy and lucky to watch it live!
Rune's journey definitely proofs that he won this tournament by his strength instead of luck
Dude ain't no luck beating 5 top 10ers back to back to back!
Wow wow...this gives me same feeling when alcaraz defeated djokovic in Madrid this year...we all knew a star was born...
Tough to say but this is even better from Rune...the character & fight he showed is incredible not only today but whole week...right from saving match points against stan till today..he played awesome tennis..
Hope Rune can play ATP Finals as well (if rafa pulls out) ...and if he does, he will be the favorite..
After going up a set and a break Nadals level dropped so badly. Really hope one day Nadal can capture Bercy and ATP finals but time is running out, and hes not always healthy enough to play those final 2 events of the season :(
@@james-vx7nv
Yup, didn't wanted to be rude to Nadal fans but it's actually better that he pulled out before start of the tournament as he might pull out after 1 or 2 matches anyways (and almost has 0% chance to win this title)..so that alternate player gets to play all 3 matches...and obviously rune in this form will be a much bigger threat to everyone then nadal and might win the tournament as well..
Time already ran out for Nadal to win these 2 tournaments I'm afraid ..
He wasn't even able to play all 3 matches in lot of occasions (ATP Finals) and I think it's 2013 when the last time he made it to the final...
@@hirenpatel3699 Nadal might not even win French Open next year, forget about hc- whether fast or slow surface.
@@pauljohnson6019
Yup, end is near..2023 could well be his last year as well..
@@hirenpatel3699 He had near 0% chance of winning AO this year. Even before the tournament he had near 0% chance. Then he was down 2 sets in the final. Then serving at 2-3 0-40 in the third. We all know what happened about three hours later :) Anything is possible but indoor hard is much tougher for him, and Djokovic is there, whereas he was not at AO this year.
Nadal said if he is healthy he would give it a shot. Lets see if he can pull off another miracle.
First time I've seen Novak choke against a teenager in a finals game. That kid has got some super mental strength in him🔥🔥🥳
Novak choked and kid has super mental strength doesn't go side be side 😆. Kid is so good that he made novak choke sounds better!!
Djokovic choking is unexpected really
He looked a little tired ..
Novak is now living what Federer had in thé last 2 years of his career…losing against younger and stronger players. Rafael Nadal is also in this period of time. They still can win but it won’t be in the majority of total titles next year

Hope to see my man Novak more often on the tour and hope this new gen keep up this level of tennis !!
@Rafa undisputed Goat It depends on the Australian government
Thanks tennis tv for all the resume and highlight ♥️ on you
Impressive victory for Rune.
Haha they forget gs djokovic is a totally different animal
This ppl are a joke. Some younger won a match and they start saying "new GOAT" and stuff like that. When in reality Novak played awful today and gifted all the crucial points.
@@a.hthejoker You guys were spot on
Lol 2023 and again just one match from winning calendar grand slam 😂
Nice to see Novak in the background at the end smiling, happy for Rune apparently...
What a match... Rune made 4 finals in a row and won 3 of them since mouratoglou joined his staff..
He went 2/4 in back to back finals. Still amazing, especially this win in Paris!
Yeah his coach is he also working still with Romaninan WTA player too?
Has nothing to do with Patrick lol
Bravo Rune 🇩🇰 Super impressive, and huge respect to Novak
The so long expected downfall of djoko & Nadal has started & will become more steep in the near future. Federer who is a more talented, gifted player , 6 years senior to these 2 , retired when he was 41 years old & it looks these 2 will retire within 2 years from now ( around 37 years of age) as the latest new generation will start kicking their butts more regularly
@@devasundarchatpublicityas9472 am a fan of them both since 10 years but that's true unfortunately. Federer at 38 still played toe to toe with 32 year old Novak in 2019 Wimbledon final.
In my opinion Rafa is done. He will not win another french open. He is going to be 37 in french open next year and he is not fit fully , still struggling with injuries I think, Novak has a chance , but next year is his last year to try to win anything. That's my opinion. They don't have to prove anything anymore anyway. I wonder how many GS will Alcaraz win or other guys. I am pretty sure they won't break the records. And it will be nothing special if Rafa looses in french open being 37. If Alcaraz beats him let's say it won't be any achievement, he would never beat him in his prime so....
Same applies to Nole.
Federer knew when to get off the court.
I hope they will know when the moment comes. Cause it's really close.
@@piotrwolski4526 I think Novak has 2-3 great years in him left. He is going to win 4-5 GS titles more in my opinion.
@@piotrwolski4526 It is close for Nadal, but I am sure that Novak will keep on winning GSs, the only reason that he lost from Rune now is that he wasnt play enaugh matches so far, we all know why..and it is not fair to count GSs without mentioning that Novak wasnt allowed to play on two GS tourns so far..we will see what will happen with AO in 2023..hopefully he will play and that is going to be a real competiotion, all other options are simply not fair competition and I personaly can not count last AO nadal won as a fair earned trophy..so, let them all play, and that is going to be a real measuring of power and keep in mind that is is playing on 3 sets won! :)
He beats 5 top 10 players in a week.....just amazing....future #1.
Ab Fab. What a fantastic performance. I think there is something quite special about Rune’s generation of players.

The first time Rune impressed me was against Ruud in that french open match.Rune was playing some tennis in RG until he lost in quarters I think.
He was playing super tennis then and now having beaten Felix who came off the back of 3 tournament wins says a lot about Rune.
He plays a bit like Novak himself and a touch of Sinner like backhands, this boy can play......
Felix looked very tired yesterday. It was not a good match at all. The match today was a hundred times better

What a match. I am so falling in love with Helgar Rune and his style of tennis. He's one of the up and coming new players. I think he'll go far.
Don't fall toon far! Unless u like badboys!
The next gen Rafa ?
What a player Rune ! Well deserved
So nice to see Edberg. He has been so low profile since his retirement.
Was a class act as a player.

He defeated two grand slam champions and 5 top ten players!!!
Congrats to Holger and Mouratoglou
Djokovic is the most consistent, complete, all round player of all time but there is always scope for improvement in his game.
1. He has to throw out the drop shots when they are not working.
2. His volleys let him down so often. Especially positioning.
3. His smash - less said the better!
Djokovic is a baseline machine... his netplay is good but not excellent.
I think Federer is a more complete player but less consistent than Djokovic.
