- The Lenovo Legion Y700 2023 Edition is a very interesting 8-inch gaming tablet from Lenovo. It features a high-resolution 8-inch display that unlike the iPad Mini, supports 144 Hz, is very bright and also supports an active stylus. Inside runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor which means that you can play demanding games like Genshin Impact and PUBG Mobile with highest graphics settings.

Picked this up several weeks ago. As an owner of an iPad Pro, and Tab S9+, this device is a beast. Very, very happy with this device.

How about system update ? How long they can be
I'm trying to decide between this because of the smaller size or the new s9 because it's new and isn't made just for China. Still not sure which direction I will go
@toprocky81 it has had several updates already. Not sure if we will get Android 14 but time will tell. I love mine. Stylus works great!
@@aircreedS9 will be better supported for sure, and although stylus is great, SPen still is better and more options for 3rd party stylus. I have this tablet and the S9+.

I love 8 inch tablet it very easy to take it everywhere, it hard to find a good one..i had ipad mini6 but i cant stand with screens problems..hope they will make more in this size with hight spec
Just picked up the lenovo tab extreme, which i keep at home. This would be perfect on the go.
If Lenovo actually updated their products, I would buy this. Beastly android tablet without the galaxy tab price.

@@arunantony3207 Lenovo is an unstated policy. Better to build new products and force the consumer to buy them than support the ones they already made. If you read on the forums most of their ANDROID products are basically released and forgotten. I've been looking at Moto phones as a spare for my Z Fold and they are great out the gate but a year later they're still stuck on the same OS version with barely any security updates. This is easily the most powerful small form factor Android tablet and would sell like crazy if Lenovo had a reputation for support.

Watching and writing from the first gen Y700. Also imported from China. I love mine. Nice to see Lenovo continuing this path. I wonder what improvements they made to PC Mode. Especially when connected to large 4k displays.if you could test that and share 😃

I have the 2022 version as well and love it. I'm passing on this year's model, mainly because I don't want to give up the battery life.

I am about to get this tab when Lenovo announce there will be a global version, so excited for it to be released.
I have the 2020 version and it's great. So definitely this is way better. I just hope they release good accessories especially a keyboard.
I read a comment saying that the previous version felt better on the hand, also that the build quality got worst with the second Y700, go figure.

Planning to buy this one instead of the ipad mini 6. My ipad pro 11 isn't that space friendly when traveling around, this one is pretty handy with a sling bag.
Does this tablet have a magic keyboard compatible? If have, what’s the name of the keyboard?
Can you remove the navigation pill at the bottom? I can't stand that thing telling me what I already know. I love how the 2022 version hides it. Can it be disabled? Please cover this in your review. It would only take a few seconds, heck, it could be as easy as filming a few shots in your review with the pill disabled at the home screen.
Glad to see you covering this one. There is another 8" 120Hz tablet... The Lenovo Legion Y700 (2022) which is still on sale and quite discounted at importers now. I have the 2022 version, the iPad Mini 6, the Realme Pad Mini and 2x the ALLDOCUBE iPlay 50 mini Pro. IMO the Y700 2022 spanks the iPad Mini 6 in all aspects of user experience except updates and MacOS integrations. But even then, Apple couldn't be bothered to bring Stage Manager to the then less than a year old $500 iPad Mini 6. Stage Manager is bad, but it is better than the default iOS multitasking experience. Supposedly, the M1 was required, but then Apple brought it to the old A12z iPad Pros, so clearly the intention was just to pay wall it. The Y700 is great, but the ALLDOCUBE iPlay 50 mini Pro is actually the device I needed to exist when I first bought my iPad Mini 6 in 2021. It's very affordable, has a stock Android UI and has enough performance for general use and casual gaming. Ideally I just want to see an 8" Pixel tablet or even better would be an 8" ChromeOS tablet. I will probably still buy the Y700 2023 at some point, but it will be very delayed since I like my new cheap iPlay 50 mini Pros. Cheers! P.S. the Realme Pad Mini is by far the worst of the bunch. It's slow and with a 800P screen it struggles to even fill the role of a media consumption device.
Aldocube mini pro is nice but speakers weak and no active stylus support

I'm really curious, have you tried comparing the graphics of the Y700 and pubg mobile ingame graphics? I know ipad have a better ingame image quality even on lowest settings, I own an ipad pro 11 but it actually feels pretty heavy while gaming with gyroscope. Now I'm torn between the Y700 and ipad mini 6 but the Y700 2023 really catches my attention

I did benchmark lenovo y700 2023. If looking benchmarks on 3d mark, new lenovo tablet has higher scores and about 97% stability on 3DMark Wild Life Extreme stress (some how it doesnt throttle even reaches over 40C). Lenovo gpu scores ~2800, while ipad mini (2021) with A15 bionic around ~2750. On geekbench 6, around 1850 single and 4850 multi (idk why i did get scores so high). And its kinda close to 8 gen 2 cpu scores. While 8 gen 2 has kinda only better gpu than 8+. ( IF looking antutu 10, gpu scores 8+ ~480000 and 8 gen 2 ~580000 thats kinda only 8 gen 2 advantage). What did suprise me, that cpu 8+ on this lenovo tab has the best scores of all 8+ (phones) kinda.

In the device settings you can set it to English. Like with all other Android devices. If you can't find it, use Google Translator with the camera feature on your phone, that's how I did it^^

This is the tablet I've been looking for. The size is just perfect! Unfortunately it's not available in my country and I'm not sure if I want to buy from abroad, however there is no other option. No other company is making tablets this size with this much performance.

In my first battery test it got just over 6 hours. I'll have to run it again but don't expect more than 7.

Please review the pen 🙏 I have never seen anyone review the pen better in it, since it is a gaming tablet i wonder how it affects the pen and drawing performance in it.
I have this and compatible Precision Pen 2 (LP-151) and it works great close to samsung tab pens.
- Lines wobble a bit for super slow strokes (also depends on the app) but for sketches and general illustrations it gets the job done.
- Pressure and Tilt sensitivity are good
- Has this feature to show a small dot when you hover the pen on the screen like samsung pens
- Haven't failed to write/draw even after days of not using unlike other pens from other android tablets
- Does not need bluetooth connection
- And if you have Microsoft Surface devices you are in luck because this pen is compatible.

Precision Pen 2 (LP-151) is compatible. I have one and it's great. I think I replied to one of the comments here.
btw you need to update the tablet's firmware to ver.14 for the pen to work.
Probably the best sub 9 inch tablets from the Android space. Competing nicely with the iPad mini 6.
I guess the only downside is the lack of LTE but it's better compatibility with all the connectivity since it's just WiFi. Otherwise, great tablet.
Competing but not surpassing *_imo_* - in addition to being available directly in EU, USA and everywhere else with the subsequent official warranty and support advantages (which this Lenovo Legion Tab lacks completely being imported directly from China), the iPad Mini 6 has full 5G-compatible LTE and much better graphics….and it’s available in almost every language.
@@LucienSabre probably don't need LTE/5G since it's WiFi only. But yeah, unless you somehow know how to take care of your tablet, this is definitely on riskier purchase.
@@joelconolly5574 Absolutely. Unless someone wants to game outdoor or during a vacation, LTE/5G is not gonna be a major requirement. Plus, gamers usually do know that how to care for a tablet so this - although a tiny bit “inferior” (allow me the awful term) - is gonna be an objectively better choice than the iPad Mini. 👍

Only available for import from China, sadly. It's a pretty good 8 inch tablet in general - just a bit sad that it doesn't support 5G and no phone capabilities. It would be interesting to have on an 8 incher
It's good for everything. Media consumption like Netflix and other streaming services (also streams beautifully from network movies in 4K without transcoding), social networks, web browsing. I even use mine (the previous version of the Y700) to RDP into my Windows computers at home when on the go (teethering from my mobile phone). Even split screen is working fine (for example watch RUclips on one half and browse web on the other half of the screen). Also supports floating windows. It's basically a high spec tablet in a little body. It can do nothing less than big tablets, and fits in back pocket. 😂

great review. Can you compare against the Samsung A with s-pen 8 inch frm 2019? I have one based on your review and while it is great, it is now VERY slow, but is still my go to travel device for flight train bus journeys etc, s it plays youtibe and netflix and can do the basics ok.

As a gaming tablet is pointless to compare it to ipad or the likes if samsung galaxy tab s9 (that was a mouthful). But i am looking forward to the review of its bigger brother the Y900, or the so called Lenovo Tab Extreme. Cheers.
Why is it pointless? Numerous reviews I've watched say this is the best android tablet on the market right now with it's mix of power and portability. The 8gen1 is no slouch with power. Lenovo is shooting themselves in the foot with their weak software support and keeping this import only.
