Ah, but it gets even better! Turn the Y700 where it's taller than wider, and you can play arcade games in Tate mode! This orientation is also perfect for Nintendo DS emulation. With the touch screen, playing darts and bowling on Clubhouse Games is a joy. I don't use an attachable controller, but prefer using 8bitdo controllers via Bluetooth.
I was about to buy Odin 2 max, but after I watched your video now, I reconsider to buy legion Y700 2023. It would be awesome to play ps 2 games and COD mobile with that screen and also, and it has micro sd card slot and supports up to 1tb that's a plus for me. Update: My y700 2023 has just arrived and if you guys want to buy this tablet please pay attention to what variant you want to buy, Because there are two variants CN ROM and Global rom.
You are correct and I think the easiest option to get is the CN version. In my opinion better option cause it will get more updates than the global version, I think.
You'll love it man. This is that one device that I constantly think might be one of my best purchases ever. When it arrives, DM me on Discord if you need help with installing the Play store :) (it might not come with it preinstalled, but it's a super quick process)

This tablet actually has an 8+ Gen 1, which is more powerful than an 8 Gen 1. I used to have this tablet and it was excellent. I got impatient when I couldn't find a good controller for it, but if I would have waited a few more months, it appears that some good controllers have been released recently.
heyya , just found your channel. I agree with many things you said. small compact ARM tablet like this one is absolute game changer in terms of portability and modularity. heck, this tablet performance already rival low to mid range laptop in general usage (tested it using kiwi browser, which is basically full fat desktop Chrome in Android )- that you can conceivably use them as your regular work device only if you don't mind slight hassle of setting it up. it also can emulate many old PC games, only in low resolution (still the fact you can do it, is truly big deal) highly recommended for someone who likes all purpose device as one single entity that absolutely capable doing everything you need at any given moment. seriously, it is the best 340 dollars I've ever spent.
Same, it's really one of the best investments ever! I used to love Kiwi back in the day, but the lack of cross-device sync was something that really bothered me. :(
I just got one! Setting up now but having an issue that youdont have the performance/balance/energy saver options when in emulation apps like citra or nethersx2. Is there a way to manually set this when the toggle doesn't show?
What do you think of odin 2 w/ SD8G2 vs this with SD8+G1? Seems like much better screen on y700 and better performance (probably better switch em) on odin 2? Also, your voice/accent is just delightful to listen to
I have the CN version and so far the experience has been excellent, just choose English as soon as you can and activate Google services in the settings. The tablet is great for really everything. The snapdragon 8+ gen1 handles android games, video editing, emulation and everything in between without a problem.
Nobody talks about it, because 2023 legion just released in GB, before that 2023 and 2022 version were available only from aliexpress. I got myself 2022 version, with 870 snapdragon and it is a beast.
btw, I'd personally still get it from Ali. They basically doubled the price for the "global version" (672$ vs 300ish$ on Ali for the same identical device, which is absolutely nuts, IMO.
I know this isn't even remotely affordable to most people, but I just got a GPD Win 4 and it's small like a real handheld console. If you can shell out that kind of money and you prefer handhelds, then I can't imagine anything being better at that price. Of course, that tablet is closer to what a regular person can afford. I can't honestly suggest anyone spend $700-1,000 on a handheld gaming PC, because that's a lot for a hobby. Most people could be happy with a good gaming laptop if you have nothing.
Awesome video! I understand that you are using Beacon Home launcher for Game catalog but can you mention invidual emulator platforms you are using for PSP, PS2, Switch or any others that you may have used?
How is the audio when sending it out through USBC-HDMI? The one thing holding me back from pulling the trigger on one of these is things I’ve heard about poor audio quality when connecting to an external monitor with speakers or a TV. I really want a device I can use portable but also as a dedicated home emu so I can play GameCube and PS2 on the big screen. Also does it support multiple Bluetooth controllers connected at once for couch co-op?
I was thinking about getting this but then saw the ALLDOCUBE iPlay60 Mini Turbo that just came out (130-160$). It runs on a snapdragon 6 gen1. I’m not trying to emulate anything over PS2 and GC and maybe some 3DS. Do you think it would be powerful enough? Thanks man! Love the content.
The tablet is on its way, I'll release a review vid on it as well in the future. Stay tuned. :) Judging by benchmarks alone, it's significally weaker than the Y700 2023, but I think it can do up to PS2 just fine and maybe even a bit of Switch. Best thing to do imo is either get the y700 2023 (which is considerably cheaper than the 2024 that's just released), or wait for my review on the Turbo. 😄
Thoughts on this vs. the upcoming 2024 version? Just ordered the 16gb version for switch emulation and streaming then found out there was an update on the way lol.
I'm super squimish with modding this controller for tablets, but here's what I found: - if you're not careful and you'll force the springs, they will become floppy - on 8 inch tablets, the springs aren't yet visible after the mod, but this tablet is 8.8 inches, so you might see some exposed springs proudly presenting themselves. - there's 3D plastic prints that can help elegantly hide this, but by this point, I'd totally just use something like the BSP D8 or D9 (shameless plug, but links in the description) In any case, you can't go wrong with this! Just don't force the springs more than you have to, my guy. ❤️
u need to compare with odin2 come with controller but 8 gen 2 vs this tablet 8 plus gen 1. another comparison is between odin 2 portal 7 inches. furthermore u still need to update the firmware as it is from china firmware and u need to buy additional controller. this processor is not really peak. u can mention it more on 8 gen 2.
You could, depending on your needs. Personally, I really wanted an 8.8 inch tablet that also packs a ton of performance (this one's basically the only choice in Android-land that isn't 10 inches of above)
I'm on the CN rom (the CN rom has battery bypass that helps prevent battery drain if I leave it plugged in something like a dock). It comes with some disadvantages though. Some apps might be in Chinese after the latest update (bone that I use though, thankfully)
Thanks again Vlad for the wonderful option on a different alternative on the “Portable” gaming handheld choices for performance hungry nerds looking for a bigger screen to enjoy the games. Looking forward to your next video 👍
can you recommend a usb-c telescopic conroller that stretches long enough too? that would be extra awesome! but also, how is the lag over BT (if not bad, then... lol)
If your tablet is 10 inch or under, check the D8 controller. If your tablet is larger than 9, than the D9 is totally a better fit (it stretches more and looks like a PS Portal). I have links to both in the description. I haven't noticed any lag through Bluetooth, tbh. :)
Off the bat, it does everything GameCube related without sweating. The upper limkt for this tablet would be hardcore Nintendo Switch games like the Witcher 3. :)
@@VladNerd Thanks! I have a tab s8 and had difficulties playing Rogue Squadron, so I was wondering how this will perform with the same chip but with active cooling and performance mode.
Disney's Hercules for PS1, there's also a PC version (which I think can be found on GOG). Saw this game back in the ancient times, when I was a kiddo, on a neighbours' pc. I'm still fascinated that we can basically play it on a potato these days. ❤️
I want the 1st version sd870 back then but the price was too high about 400$ so i bought ipad mini 6 at 550$. After 1 year the 2023 version release and it's so much better ... i want to trade my ipad mini 6 to 2023 version but my ipad only worth like 1/2 price after 1.5 year ... cant wasted that much money so i have to keep my ipad mini 6 untill it's broken ( maybe about 5-7 more years ) it's ok after all coz as a person who dont have much moneys, ipad is better choice for long term use, it's maybe expensive at 1st but it's gonna live much longer than lenovo ! But i still think y700 2023 much better than ipad mini 6.
The iPad Mini is good as well, don't worry + Apple is now letting emulation officially happen on the app Store, so there's definitely some new potential there to be unlocked. :)
@@VladNerddo apple allow u to sideload archive version of yuzu, sudachi for switch emulator. how about other emulators like wii U cemu. ipad mini only allow very retro emulator like ps1 and below. so better to sell of ipad mini and go buy this value tablet.
Mr. Vlad! Excellent video as always, sober level geaded practicality in an age of excess inferior unitaskers. I would love one of these but have never uad a good experience with AliExpress in Canada. Any idea if this is available at other retailers? Thanks again and keep up the good work!
There's a global version of the same model that got released, but the problem is that Lenovo priced it literally double for the global markets. 😄 (It's going at around 600-700$, as opposed to 300$~ on AliExpress). And it's the same device, but I think you might find it on Amazon soon too (but with the inflated price tag).
Vlad you are one the best or the best, because you are so funny, talented and sometimes a pinch of sarcastic that is very unique and we love it. multumesc!! Any better in 2024 than this tablet for the same purpose??
Thanks so much ❤️ They might release a China-only 2024 version, but I'm not sure about a global edition, considering that the 2023 edition (this one) was just launched globally a month or so ago. So your guess is as good as mine, my dear nerd. :)
@VladNerd im already starting to regret my purchase man. After reading reddit posts on this Y700 2023, it seems tou constantly get popups in Chinese, the UI is janky, to have a good experience you have to do some kind of ROM Flash to the global ROM and the file explorer on it doesnt allow any root access and you cant use any other ones? Also google play is difficult to get on it. Is this all true dude?
Google play is really easy to get on (there's basically a toggle that you have to check in the settings and then you just have to sideload google play). You can debloat it from almost all of the Chinese apps and have it feel like the global version. There's an update that came since I released this video which kind of sucked though. The update makes it harder to open the bootloader and forces some normal apps to have some Chinese elements to it (obvious bug, I'm expecting this to be fixed in the next update though). I still think that it's a beast of a tablet for the price and there really isn't any competition for it in the Android space. (And still a good choice, since Lenovo basically charges double for the identically-specd global version) I'm sorry that you're regretting your purchase, my guy. :(
@VladNerd so you didn't flash your ROM to global you just stuck with th3 Chinese one in Ebglish language? That will be a major provl3m. Tons of apps will still have chibese character.
@@-Airwalk1616- the Chinese-characters-in-apps issue only appeared after the latest update (which was after I made this vid), but I'm convinced that it's a bug which will be fixed in the next update. Lenovo wouldn't purposely mess up their own tablet, there's tons of consumers outside of China that bought it before the global model got released. Personally, I'm not stressing too much about it. The core apps that I use are still in English (RUclips, the browser apps, Reddit, Whatsapp, Gmail, Playstore, Discord, etc). Don't worry man, I'm pretty much convinced that you're gonna love it once it arrives. There's really no alternative to it in the Android space. :) Worst case, you can pretty much sell it for more than you bought it for, or outright return it for a full refund.
I've had this on the list since the last video you did with it. How does it compare to the Samsung Tab S 9? Was considering getting the Ultra. I know the Tab S9 has the Gen 2 processor but what about the GPU?
Imo, they're in different categories alltogether. The Tab S9 & Ultra are big, monstrous devices. They pack great performance, but they'll never be portable like an 8.8 inch tablet. Either of them will do great at gaming, but in my opinion, they're exceeding anything that I'd consider portable or casually using on the couch and enjoys. :) It depends on you though. They're different sizes and (way) different prices than this Lenovo Y700 2023. I'm convinced you'd be happy with either of these 3 options.
i'll prepare for the hate- but there seem to be so many lenovo options on ali express and giztop- I'm not sure I understand why some models cost 290 and others over 500? seems to have the same specs (12GB/256) ? can anyone help clarify?
Good question, I'll do my best to answer. There's two versions of the Y700, a 2022 and 2023 model. - the 2022 model comes with the (now old) Snapdragon 870. - the 2023 model comes with the Snapdragon 8 gen 1. Make sure to pick up the 2023 model if you do plan on getting it, it's totally worth the price difference. As for the other reason why there might be price fluctuations: AliExpress is sort of like Amazon, in the sense that there's a ton of sellers (and resellers) competing with each other over there. You'll see the same thing at different prices almost constantly. I've linked the official Lenovo AliExpress store in my description (it also has the smallest price that I could find), I'd advise you use that. I got the tablet that I showed off in the clip from that same store. Also, there's some vouchers that I left in a comment here on this video that drives the price down further, those should be used as well. Last but not least, there's no hate to be had here, my dear fellow nerd! Only friendship and mutual support, that's how we roll here. :) If you have any questions, let me know!
Unfortunately, the promo expired on the 19th... Still, even at its price, I'd still say it's worth it. It's my second most used device (outside my phone). Still, Ali has promotions all the time, I'm sure a new one will pop up. ❤️
@@VladNerd I'm interested in using this device to debug locally in termux as it have a big ram. I have tried it on a phone that supports floating window but it disappears everytime I open the settings to enable a certain option, and I specifically need to keep both open to enable the option I want. I reckon this wouldn't be a problem in lenovo y700 because it has desktop mode, but I don't wanna risk it so thanks a lot for the answer. Speaking of big ram, does the lenovo y700 tablet have expandable ram feature?
@@absolthebrainlet9089 it does, but I wouldn't use it. Any Android skin that allows you to "expand the ram" does nothing more than enable page file. You'd just tire out your storage imo.

Off the bat, it does everything GameCube related without sweating. The upper limkt for this tablet would be hardcore Nintendo Switch games like the Witcher 3. :)
But I'll try Rogue Squadron and come back to you!
@@VladNerd Thanks! I have a tab s8 and had difficulties playing Rogue Squadron, so I was wondering how this will perform with the same chip but with active cooling and performance mode.
8:33 what is the name of the game?
Disney's Hercules for PS1, there's also a PC version (which I think can be found on GOG).
Saw this game back in the ancient times, when I was a kiddo, on a neighbours' pc. I'm still fascinated that we can basically play it on a potato these days. ❤️
@@VladNerd thank you.
Soothing voice 😌
Mr.
@@VladNerd thank you so much for the clarification! I'll keep an eye out for it!
Vlad you are one the best or the best, because you are so funny, talented and sometimes a pinch of sarcastic that is very unique and we love it. multumesc!! Any better in 2024 than this tablet for the same purpose??
Thanks so much ❤️
They might release a China-only 2024 version, but I'm not sure about a global edition, considering that the 2023 edition (this one) was just launched globally a month or so ago.
(And still a good choice, since Lenovo basically charges double for the identically-specd global version)
I'm sorry that you're regretting your purchase, my guy. :(
@VladNerd so you didn't flash your ROM to global you just stuck with th3 Chinese one in Ebglish language?
Worst case, you can pretty much sell it for more than you bought it for, or outright return it for a full refund.
It depends on you though. They're different sizes and (way) different prices than this Lenovo Y700 2023. I'm convinced you'd be happy with either of these 3 options.
@@VladNerd The Legion Go has been calling me so that's what I'll go with 👍🏻
i'll prepare for the hate- but there seem to be so many lenovo options on ali express and giztop- I'm not sure I understand why some models cost 290 and others over 500? seems to have the same specs (12GB/256) ? can anyone help clarify?
If you have any questions, let me know!
I'm getting this on monday, just tell me the best controller option my nerd
Wait until 3 more days. The GameSir G8+++ will be announced on the 18th of June and it supports the Y700 out of the box. :)
@@VladNerd Thx !
The coins are working but the promo codes not working 😢
Unfortunately, the promo expired on the 19th...
Still, even at its price, I'd still say it's worth it. It's my second most used device (outside my phone).
Still, Ali has promotions all the time, I'm sure a new one will pop up. ❤️
@@VladNerd thanks i try my luck with the coins unitl the price is down ❤️
Preach!
is it possible to split screen or float window with the settings open in this device?
I think so, yeah.
My question is why would you need that? Not judging, just curious. 😁
@@VladNerd I really appreciate the quick reply! yea I guess it will eat up the tbw limit of the storage... it's using ufs 3.1 right? I wonder how much is the limit
i think my bro just discovered HUGE SCREEEN like tablet slash handheld haha i use these without controller just flip this out on table top stand and use bluetuth and play 4 player drink with friends anywhere
What soft for emulator?
You can emulate anything till the ps2 wii switch....
Молодец Влаdick😏 подтянул инглиш

you barely even show the tablet running different types of games and emulator
It was one of my first videos, honestly, I had no idea what I was doing over there. 😄
The tablet runs pretty much everything though, including most Switch games that I tried
its got the specs. but it aint got the look.

Sorry man, but please use English if you can.
I can only run your comments through automatic RUclips's automating translation feature while I'm on PC, but I can't do so on mobile. (I know a bit of chirillic, but definitely not enough).
So my responses will be delayed if they're in a different language. Thanks for your understanding. :)
I choose the odin2
"cough cough" 😜
I had to cough for legal reasons. 😄
Nobody talk of this because you can have an AYN Odin 2 for half the price and fuck this shit in every aspect...
Half the price where? This thing is 300ish $ on AliExpress. I think you just didn't watch the video before leaving the comment.
Watched an clicked the link, but you are right, im talking at least in Europe is close to 600€ and Odin is 300€ right now.
Same problem with for example Asus rog Z1 in USA you can get it for 300usd and here 500€ ...
@@seikkv4371 I'm from the EU as well, you can totally import from AliExpress at way lower prices than what we have here. Almost everything on Amazon has a huge markup compared to the Ali prices. :)
if it ain't oled i ain't interested
As a fellow oped fan, I totally understand this. Still, the price is good for what one gets. 😄
Bruh same top tier panel as legion go handheld, which is same level or better than oled except blackness

Ew. Just get a steam deck.
I literally mentioned the Steam Deck a bit later in the vid. It's definitely a choice, but there's pros and cons.
