🍣 For David Chang, as an Asian American male with societal and cultural pressures, props to him for sharing his bout with depression and his share of his internal thoughts. I have eaten at his NYC restaurant in 2009 and ran into John Legend. I previously thought of him as a spoiled hipster restaurant 🍱 owner but now have a newfound respect. Great interview Mr. Mason. -- Asian Food Nerd 🥢
i worked at his noodle bar few years ago and it was full with nothing but excellence in every aspect of their business/team. All the team members strove for excellence in their job !
I love David Chang! I am so lucky that i was able to take my family to Momofuku in DC in Feb'20 before the Pandemic. The food was amazing and I will be looking to go to his restaurants again! Thank you David Chang for the absolutely wonderful food!
Haven't had the chance to try his food, but have followed him for awhile. Have always seen him as authentic and sincere, an industry voice which I appreciate and love hearing
I found the PBS' DVD set Mind of a Chef with David Chang @ a second-hand store, Goodwill, in Kaimuki, Hawaii. I thought that I wanted to buy it, I really love that series. I opened the box and I found one DVD missing. "Bummers!!!"
Wonderful opening up. Only thing: “bipolar”? Maybe in this case it’s really just depression / anxiety, which is more normal than one might think, IMHO. Sharing our vulnerability, like David Chang, is the answer.
I work in the restaurant industry and I agree with the difficulties that it’s about to and is facing. But like they said David Chang has 13 restaurants and two Netflix shows I’m sure he has the capital to stay afloat during and through these times. I feel like this is not a big deal
@@waltercunningham8126 Walter, what income David makes and how many restaurants he owns shouldn't concern you. The interview was about David's struggle to fight his inner-demon. I hope you are all right with your job situation.
one of the most personable chefs presented on RUclips. he's got a lot of great stories and I love how he visits his mom. Success will not ever ruin this guy. plus he's the double of my Malaysian brother in law, another nice guy
From what ive seen through his netflix shows and any spotlight he seems pretty arrogant, but id like to see him change my mind, don't think releasing a memoir during the pandemic is helping his cause haha

Netflix has it
@@inbetweenworlds Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I only play DVDs. I have a 140-plus PBS DVD collection.
Sometimes you can find stuff like that on eBay.

Read the book. He documents multiple instances of full-blown manic episodes.
Just ate at all his Vegas restaurants. Really amazing food and drinks!!
Bless for you 😷😷🇧🇷🙏🙏 todos vocês jornalista parabéns parabéns ok
Never heard of him...🤔🤔🤔🤔
Loved his memoir. It was written with such a raw and genuine and vulnerable voice.
Love Ugly Delicious !

It is a big deal! You forgot all the restaurant workers that lost their jobs!
Captain I’m one of them haha read the first line. David Chang on the other hand is still working and doing just fine

Captain you are absolutely correct
The interview was great but what’s with these inane comments by the show hosts? Ugh.
Chipotle anyone?
💕
I get a douch vibe from this guy
gimme an E!
He'd probably agree with you. Most celebrities don't get where they are by being meek. Society looks up to "douches."
That's what he admitted in the interview. Did you not watch the whole thing? At least he's confronting himself and trying to change.
Probably a product of his environment. Cooking and being a chef is competitive and you can't show weakness.

really? he doesnt seems arrogant at all...
It's a fantastic read. Just finished it. Enjoy it!
David Baby look, Just like Him.
What a valiant effort to stay relevant.
I ate at his DC resto Nothing special about his food , too salty...
Temper? This guy is downright disrespectful!
Didn't he go on television and cry for help for his employees when the pandemic hit? I don't recall him helping them out with his vast fortune.
hey chang - how's business?
TL;DR version: Rich and lucky people have insecurities too. Even non whites. Thanks David Chang!
this guy's food is super overrated and overpriced. idk why he needs to have a memoir
Korean is a Nationality, White is a social identity... I think he needs to dig a lil deeper
