I know nothing about expensive pens.
I do know when buying expensive guitars a good tip is to get it second hand and pre-dinged so you're not afraid to use it. Not sure how that translates to pens.
But "not gonna stress out about it" sounds like you got that in check. It's beautiful! Congratz.

I, too went to school late, 29yo I think. I went for Dynamic Media (think: photoshop that moves) and then 9/11happened just before I graduated. Then Age-ism (they want young people that they can mold -cheap) then they shipped most of the industry off to India and China.
I got a bad break, but I didn't have about 1m followers either. (That technology came much later)

I have a couple of questions I have been watching your videos for about 2 years now and love your work. Do have a plan or idea of what you are going to draw when you start or do you shoot from the hip and just go with it, and about how long dose it take in real time to finish one of you drawing. Keep doing what you do it makes a difference

Had almost the exact same experience with going to college after graduating high school. I knew I wanted to do marching band show design and instruction, but there's not really a degree for that, so I was just going for music education degree. After like 2 years, I was like... "why am I still doing this and paying for this when I don't actually need a degree?".
So, after taking classes to learn the things I knew would be useful for my actual career (shocking concept, I know), I dropped out and have been doing my marching thing ever since.
Although, the last few years I've kind of had the urge to go back to school to learn more about other things I'm interested in, like electronics, programming, sciences, etc. It's so frustrating to me that college has just become something you do... just because... for most jobs the degree doesn't even matter, they just want to make sure you've blown 4 years and a ton of money on school before they'll consider hiring you. Very weird to me.
There's some really good technical schools around me that have a lot of really interesting looking classes. I'll probably give that a go when I have extra time and money. The sugar art class has been on my wish list for years. :)
