  • CS:GO players might be used to stretching their view. To be honest, I used to do the same when i played siege competitively, so I was wondering, should I be stretching my view on Valorant too? Turns out it isnt that easy.

    if you're on an ultrawide (as i am), and you also happen to have a second monitor (doesn't matter what), when you're in valorant, choosing the second monitor's resolution but not applying it will make it stretch the entire game across the ultrawide but keep the UI centred & the same

      @@aliabi.5847 my UW monitor is 3440x1440, and my regular 2nd monitor is 1920x1080
      for me, i have valorant launch on my ultrawide, go into video, click resolution, and while on my UW, change the resolution from 3440x1440 to 1920x1080 (or from monitor 1's res to 2's res) and make sure you don't hit apply - just escape, and you should get the menu images & gun previews being shifted to the left but the UI now spans the entire monitor, and once you're in game, the actual game itself is stretched to 21:9. here's a clip of what it looks like on my setup ruclips.net/video/orUMwoM9wYY/видео.html

    you can use a different setting to stretch your intire game like in cs.
    you need a resolution with the pixel hight decreased. so instead of 1920:1080 and decreasing 1920 to 1440 you can change 1080 to 700 (my res)
    then you need to change scaling. most games you need full screen to stretch out ur game with the blackbars. but in val no scaling with acually stretch your game.

I found a work around, if you play in windowed mode and stretch your entire desktop valorant appears stretched. You may be thinking “windowed mode what about fps and input lag???” I have an average build and I dont notice any input lag or fps stutters and I have been playing on this for about a year and I barely even notice its in windowed mode.

    Stretching improves, not only FPS but input delay as well. Your crosshair becomes bigger which people like, and for people who have screen tearing (like me), stretched res can reduce or completely remove all screen glitching without V Sync. I personally use 1750x1080 (16:10) and it is great, It stretches my game enough and it doesn't make anything blurry or look trash. It also makes my game smoother than when I use 16:9.

      Lowering resolution in a game will not impact your monitors refresh rate. It will only impact how demanding the game is, therefore lowering resolutions will give you higher fps, which is something he mentions in the video as a possible upside to stretching. However keep in mind that this benefit is only because the resolution is lower, not because it's stretched. Playing any 16:9 resolution that is lower than your current resolution will grant fps improvements.

    • @zabrac1566
      @zabrac1566 Год назад

      @@coc3233 Your monitor supports multiple different resolutions and maybe support multiple refresh rates at certain resolutions. Changing your monitor to different resolution and refresh rate combination will work. Changing the resolution of a game however won't change the amount that your monitor refreshes at it's current setting.
      My comment mentioned "lowering resolution in a game" specifically for this reason. In games no matter the setting, besides ones specifically mentioning refresh rate, nothing should change the rate at which your monitor draws. Not all monitors support multiple different refresh rates. You mention specifically older / lower end monitors. By that I'll assume you mean 1080p 60hz ones as they are the most common today. Amongst these monitors some may offer a lower resolution at 75hz instead of 60hz which I assume you have. Changing your screens resolution and refresh rate in windows, or as you already mention, nVidia will of course change those settings. However that is not because of Valorant, it's because you changed it via Windows or such.

    I don't understand why you didn't talk more about how people "move faster on stretched," if they move faster, or atleast appear to, then there would be a difference, no? I am on the fence about stretched, but the main reason why I would do it is because of the speed that people move, if they move faster they might be easier to perceive quickly.

      "this video isnt about if you should stretch, its about if you could", but in general, stretching is good for entries and bad for angle holding!
