You actually get a SMALLER FOV when you stretch, not LARGER. FOV is the vision cone that your monitor can see. Stretching the resolution decreases the cone.
I played cs a lot and got used to 1280x960. But this winrar true stretched thing made my mouse feel uncomfortable and I think playing in windowed mode increases delay and input lag. Therefore, I think it's better to just get used to the fact that the models do not stretch and play 1920 x 1080 or 1280x960
